All eyes are on tennis champion Serena Williams right now. And rightfully so!
While we’ve been praising the 33-year-old tennis superstar for her accomplishments, mainstream media is finally catching up, giving her well-deserved props. She IS one of the best athletes of our generation. And that’s not up for debate.
Sixteen years after appearing on Sports Illustrated for the first time, the 21-time Grand Slam champion is back on the national cover of Sports Illustrated this week. And, of course, she’s serving all types of tennis greatness.
For the first time in her career, Serena is in the running for a chance to win a calendar Grand Slam, which would make her the first player to accomplish the feat since Steffi Graf in 1988. YASS!
If Serena takes home the U.S. Open title, it would mark her FIFTH straight Grand Slam title and her FOURTH consecutive U.S. Open title. Talk about amazing.
She took home her fifth WTA title after winning the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati (where we learned she was getting cozy again with rapper Drake) ealier this week. She also reigned supreme at Wimbledon, the Australian Open, the French Open, and the Miami Open this year. Work!
Serena will battle it out on the court in the U.S. Open, starting August 31st in NYC, to clench her SEVENTH U.S. Open title. Good luck!

Alicia Keys shared an adorable pic of her sons, four-year-old Egypt and eight-month old Genesis, on Instagram. The black-and-white snap shows the two boys lying down on their stomachs, while Egypt has his hand on his baby brother’s back.

Alicia and her husband Swizz Beatz welcomed baby Genesis in December 2014, and shared a family portrait, introducing him earlier this year.

SAD NEWS: Christina Milian's Sister Danielle Loses Her Baby Just Hours After Birth
Christina Milian's younger sister Danielle lost her newborn son on Wednesday just hours after welcoming him into the world.
On Tuesday, the 29-year-old, who is already a mother to 12-month-old Naomi and 8-year-old Daniel, Instagrammed about the newest edition to her family, writing, "Baby Richie has arrived! #prayersup for my #babyboy. He is already a fighter!"
The following day, Danielle returned to Instagram with the somber message that Richie was no longer with us.
"Yesterday I was blessed with the birth of my Richie Bear," Danielle wrote as the caption for a black and white photo of herself bearing what appears to be the baby's handprint. "Unfortunately, last night he took his place with the Lord and we said goodbye. I so appreciate the prayers and support from everyone. He touched my heart and was perfect in so many ways."
Danielle's sister, Christina, also wrote a loving tribute to her nephew on Instagram late Wednesday.
"The last 24 hours have been an emotional roller coaster but i'd like to thank everyone for being so supportive throughout my sister Danielle & Richards pregnancy," she wrote. "The both of them have shown the true measure of courage and faith for the last 9 months and I can’t praise them more."
"Our family was blessed to have met our little Angel Baby Richie. We were fighting for him and with him the whole way and are now coping with the direction in which fate took," the 33-year-old Christina Milian Turned Up star continued.

Derrick Rose Refutes Rape Claims Via Lawyer, "This Is A Shakedown!"
Chicago native Derrick Rose is in some majorly hot water that won't be so easy to climb out of it seems. The Bulls' star point guard, along with two of his friends, have been accused in a lawsuit of allegedly drugging and gang-raping an unnamed woman.
Now that the internet has been completely taken aback by the details, Derrick is defending himself via a rep for his legal team.
In a statement released in the wee hours of the morning, a few hours after the lawsuit hit the net, Lisa Cohen said the allegations are completely false. It's also revealed this isn't the first time the plaintiff has made the accusations, and Derrick's team feels this is a shakedown for money.
Here's the statement in full:
"The plaintiff's allegations are completely false and without any factual basis. This is nothing more than a desperate attempt to shake down a highly respected and successful athlete.
Mr. Rose was in a non-exclusive, consensual sexual relationship with the plaintiff for over two years. The plaintiff expressed no complaints about Mr. Rose until various lawyers began to surface and demand that the plaintiff be paid millions of dollars.
This is the third lawyer the plaintiff has retained in this matter. Two years have passed since Mr. Rose ended the consensual relationship with the plaintiff and her claims are as meritless now as they were two years ago.
We have complete confidence that the case will be dismissed and that Mr. Rose will be vindicated. This lawsuit is outrageous.”
MANY people commenting on the story have questioned why the plaintiff waited to years to file this lawsuit, and it seems as though it's possible she started the process with two previous lawyers before this most recent lawsuit. It's also important to note that statistically, it's not completely out of the ordinary for an alleged rape victim to wait a significant amount of time before coming forward due to psychological and emotional issues at hand.
And then there's this: According to the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network (RAINN), only 2 percent of rapes in the U.S. end in a felony conviction. This may also give some insight into why many rapes go unreported or are delayed in being reported.
With all that said, it will be almost impossible, without hard proof or an admission, to determine with 100% confidence which party is telling the truth. We'll keep you updated on any developments.
NBA Legend Darryl Dawkins Dead At 58
NBA legend Darryl Dawkins has died at the age of 58.
According to reports, a family member called 911 after Dawkins suffered an unknown medical emergency. The former 76ers player was apparently rushed to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest in Allentown, PA where he later died. A cause of death has not been confirmed.
Dawkins, who was given the nickname “Chocolate Thunder” by Stevie Wonder, is most known for his time with the Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Nets. Following his 15 year NBA career, the athlete played overseas before settling down in Lehigh Valley where he served as the head coach of the Lehigh Carbon Community College’s men’s basketball team.
“LCCC community is saddened by the passing of Philadelphia 76er legend and former LCCC basketball coach Darryl Dawkins,” the college wrote on Facebook on Thursday. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the Dawkins family.”

Now this is what we call a glowing pregnant star. Kandi Burruss shared an adorable photo on Instagram of she and her husband, Todd Tucker, admiring her growing baby bump. In the image, Tucker can be seen rubbing Burruss’ belly while the reality star looks down with joy.
The couple confirmed that they were having their first child together back in July. And although the lovebirds have not revealed the sex of the baby, we can report exclusively that Burruss and Tucker want a boy. “We would love to have a baby this year. Hopefully it will happen in the next few months … clocking those periods … we are really working towards it,” The Real Housewives of Atlanta star told us back in January.

Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz held a special screening of "Belief" last night at the Fox Theatre in Redwood City, California with more than 1,000 attendees, including Nas. In the photo below, he posed with Erik Logan, President of OWN and Harpo Studios, Ben Horowitz and got photobombed by Oprah.
The screening of the premiere episode was followed by a conversation with Oprah and Andreessen Horowitz co-founder and partner Ben Horowitz.

Here’s news to the few of you who still watch Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta and K. Michelle’s reality TV show.
Variety magazine confirms VH1 ordered eight half-hour episodes of a LHHATL spin-off featuring part-time music producer Stevie J and Joseline Hernandez.
The spin-off, created by Mona Scott-Young’s Monami Entertainment, will follow Stevie and Joseline doing whatever it is that they do.
If you recall, Joseline testified under oath that Love & Hip Hop was fake and scripted. That might explain why Mona is hanging them out to dry, so to speak.
“In a summer where the film ‘Straight Outta Compton’ went straight to #1, Taylor Swift’s collaboration with Kendrick Lamar topped the Billboard charts and our own “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” ranked as the #1 reality show on cable, hip hop’s dominance of pop culture was confirmed yet again,” said Susan Levison, VH1’s EVP of original programming and production. “We’re excited to fuel our audience’s continued fascination with all things hip hop by extending the storylines of some of their favorite ‘Love & Hip Hop’ cast members.”
