Marvel Salutes Hip-Hop w/ 50 Variant Covers Paying Homage to Classic Albums Covers
Marvel is having fun with a new series of more than 50 variant covers that are all homages to classic hip-hop album covers.
“For years, Marvel Comics and hip-hop culture have been engaged in an ongoing dialogue,” Marvel EIC Axel Alonso said in a press release. “Beginning this October, we will shine a spotlight on the seamless relationship between those two unique forces.” Take an early peek at what's to come
The move is part of the comic book giant's plans to reissue some of its classic titles, which will happen this fall..

Chris Brown’s Aunt set him up to be ROBBED?

Chris Brown’s aunt is not happy with the Queen of Talk, Wendy Williams, who practically accused the young lady of helped a robbing crew burglarize her nephew’s Tarzana, CA. mansion last weekend.

“How much you want to bet the aunt was probably in the mix like one of them young aunts doing it big in the club,” said Wendy. She then showed the audience a Selfie photo of the young woman, who told police three armed men tied her up and locked her in a closet while they ransacked Brown’s mansion.
Wendy questioned why Breezy’s aunt opened the door after hearing a noise outside the house at 3 a.m. “Who does that?” said Wendy.
Police believe the robbers were familiar with the layout of Brown’s home, and where he hides his cash. Brown was recently paid a significant amount of cash to perform at a nightclub.
Brown’s aunt wrote an Instagram.com post defending herself.
“Look Miss Wendy, before reporting your stories get your facts straight!!!,” she wrote.
Bella added she never heard any noise outside the house. She said she was asleep when she was assaulted and she would never open the door in LA where she’s not familiar with her surroundings.

THIS AGAIN????? Raven-Symoné Explains Why She Doesn’t Label Herself African American
Raven-Symone set the internet abuzz after an interview with Oprah late last year in which she said she does not consider herself to be African American.
She recently chatted with PEOPLE, where she further elaborated on her desire to be called “American.”
“I don’t like labels, but everyone needs them to understand what is going on. So, okay, I get it. Give me ‘American.’ There is nothing wrong with being an American, purely,” the The View co-host tells PEOPLE in its latest issue. “I think that there are a lot of different races that fall under ‘American,’ so past that you really just are sub-categorizing me over and over again. I’m not disowning my history in any way. My family has been here for almost 400 years. We’re American.”
She goes on to say that while this is her personal view,she’s not expecting for everyone to feel the same: “This is me and what I feel about myself. But if you identify as African-American, then you’re African-American,” she insists. “What right do I have to tell you what you are and what you’re not?”

Shaquille O’Neal & Scottie Pippen Politely Slam Each Other On Instagram
Once an athlete, always an uberly competitive athlete. Case in point 43-year-old Shaquille O’Neal and 49-year-old Scottie Pippen. Both have long quit the game (Shaq in 2011 and Scottie in 2008), but that doesn’t prevent them from talking sh*t when it comes to the game.
We caught the two doing some polite Instagram feuding over whom the better play and team was during their days at the Lakers and Bulls.
From what we can tell, the situation was sparked when Shaq wrote (see above) on Instagram that the all-time Lakers squad (Shaq, Kobe Bryant, Elgin Baylor, Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar) would beat the best five in Bulls history (Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, Horace Grant and Derrick Rose)—by 50 points.
Apparently, Scottie caught wind of this and responded with the post below.

Tyrese Scores His First No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 Chart
Nearly 20 years after releasing his self-titled debut album, Tyrese has finally landed at number one on the Billboard 200 with his latest album Black Rose.
In its first week of release, Black Rose moved 86,000 equivalent album units (83,000 in pure album sales), narrowly beating the 76,000 first-week bow of 2011’s Open Invitation, which debuted at number nine on the Billboard 200.
His debut album Tyrese peaked at number 17 on the Billboard 200; 2000 Watts at number 10; I Wanna Go There at number 16; Alter Ego at number 23; and Open Invitation at number nine.
According to Tyrese, Black Rose is slated to be his final studio album, but he may now want to rethink that…

The famed transgender women posed together for a photo pop on Sunday night at a special screening of Caitlyn’s upcoming E! series, I Am Cait. Cox shared the photo on Instagram with the caption:

During Jenner’s ESPY’s speech last week, she mentioned Cox as being someone to have transitioned and take the journey before she did. During an interview with Vanity Fair, Caitlyn even called Cox a “pioneer.”

“Hip Hop Weekly” editor and former “Love and Hip Hop Atlanta” cast member, Benzino just dodged a year in prison for bringing his loaded gun to the airport. And since that has happened to a lot of people lately so lets not beat up on Zino because he picked up the wrong laptop. His mind must have been busy with wedding plans and restaurant openings. Instead of jail time for trying to bring a gun through the airport, the judge sentenced Benzino to one year of probation, a $500 fine, 700 hours community service, and a crash course in gun safety.
Benzino, who is from Boston, loves to cook seafood. He and his family were in the kitchen serving up some delicious seafood. His Hip Hop Weekly business partner Dave Mays worked the register and V-103 was on hand to promote as well.

Tamar Braxton stopped by the Angie Martinez Show on Power 105.1 to promote new single ‘If I Don’t Have You’. Indeed, beyond confirming that new album ‘Calling All Hearts’ has been been bumped from its July release to September 11th, the 38-year-old made an interesting observation about Rihanna.
The comment came when on the chat turned to the topic of Sam Smith winning ‘Best Newcomer’ at the recent BET Awards. Weighing in, Braxton congratulated him – but was quick to emphasize that his music is not R&B. She went on to add, in regard to RiRi…

That was QUICK! Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert's Divorce Is Finalized Just Hours After Split Announcement
Well that was quick! A mere hours after announcing their split, Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert have finalized their divorce, Us Weekly reports.
The country couple confirmed they'd split on Monday morning but the duo actually filed documents months ago in Oklahoma. Usually a couple announces their break up and then officially divorce months down the road. But not for these two! Today, the judge sign off on the divorce.
"This is not the future we envisioned. And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter," the estranged spouses said in a statement to the Associated Press.
There won't be any nasty spats about money, as the pair had a very specific prenup in place. The blonde songstress gets the family home in Nashville, while The Voice judge gets their ranch in Oklahoma.
No word on what went wrong, It is rumored that Blake was the one who moved to end their four year marriage. Either way, we have a feeling Blake's love of whiskey might have something to do with the beloved pair's untimely end ...

Bunny DeBarge Talks About Her Famous Family, New Book And Finally Being Free From Drugs
Etterlene “Bunny” DeBarge is one of two sisters in the DeBarge family, known best for their romantic ballads of the 80’s and the massive pop hit “Rhythm Of The Night.” Bunny’s gorgeous lead vocal on the classic DeBarge song “A Dream” and her writing skills showcased on the the hits “Time Will Reveal” and “Stay With Me,” made her among the most talented members of a family that includes El, Chico and the late Bobby DeBarge, who was in the group Switch.
As the oldest sibling in a biracial family of ten growing up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, as any Unsung viewer knows, Bunny inherited both musical talent but also a family decimated by mental and physical abuse and drug addiction.
Now 60, Bunny’s current single is “God is Good” she wrote a memoir called The Kept Ones, is developing a feature film, Rhythm Of the Night and is developing a TV talk show, Walking it Out with Bunny DeBarge.
“I am back in forth between Grand Rapids and Detroit,” Bunny says. She is working on inspirational music in a studio and is traveling back between the two cities. If her single is any indication, Bunny hasn’t lost a step in terms of her songwriting and vocals.
But Bunny and her family struggled with dysfunction and drug abuse among their successes. Bunny, El, James and Chico are among the more prominent members of the family that have battled addiction. But Bunny says that after years of abuse, she’s finally proud to say she’s been delivered from substance abuse. She, James and Randy Debarge all appeared on Dr. Drew’s Lifechangers in 2011, but was the only only who actually completed the program.
“Coming up from a very abusive childhood (Bunny says her father, who was White, was sexually and physically abusive to her and other members of the family) went to Motown, when it was time to do drugs back in the day, got off Motown and the group broke up, got more into drugs, got breast cancer and got more into drugs, I went to many rehabs and its been four years now, I’ve been off drugs,” says Bunny.
The mother of four is grandmother of 15 says she returned to her religious faith to help her sustain her sobriety. Raised Pentecostal, Bunny says she believes that changing the family’s musical orientation from religious to secular played a role in their downfall.
“Coming from the church back then, we didn’t wear makeup, we didn’t wear pants and we couldn’t listen to the radio. So at that time, secular music was a sin. We tried to do something in the gospel field but they didn’t know where to place our song. We started out singing in church.”
As far as her brothers and sisters, Bunny says that she’s had to distance herself for her own healing.
“I hope everyone is OK, but never dealing with what had happened to us and pretending we were OK [led to our dysfunction]. I’m the first one to really deal with the pain of my past and that was in writing my book.”
