The Daily Buzz For March 30

YES…BLACK GIRLS DO ROCK!
Over the weekend, the 2015 Black Girls Rock event was held at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark. And it brought out many of your favorite ladies serving up their hottest looks and extra glam to celebrate women of color.
Singer/songwriter Jill Scott, who recently released visuals to her new track “You Don’t Know,” slayed the white carpet in a black-and-white jumpsuit accented with a bold color and colorful sandals.
The With This Ring star brought her amazing fro to top off her perfectly put together look. Yes Jilly from Philly! We’re loving it.
“black•ish” star Tracee Ellis Ross (aka T Murda) worked the carpet in a high slit one-shoulder Bibhu Mohapatra Spring’15 gown topped off with a head full of curls. Gorge. Tracee returned to co-host the night of girl power alongside Regina King.
“Electric Lady” Janelle Monae sure has this black-and-white uniform look mastered. She kept it chic in a RVNNYC pre-Fall 2015 crop top and skirt, which she paired with Dsquared2 sandals and clutch. Slay Janelle!
New mom Ciara took a break from her motherly duties and filming for her new NBC show “I Can Do That!" to shut down the white carpet in sexy silk black gown. The new celebrity competition show, which also stars Marlon Wayans, premieres May 26th.
Returning co-host and star of "American Crime" Regina King turned heads in a shiny silver suit before hitting the stage for her hosting duties.
Will and Jada Pinkett Smith posed up for the cameras on the white carpet. Will has a new action-drama film in theaters now titled FOCUS.
Oscar nominated directress Ava DuVernay got red hot on the white carpet. She was one of the honorees of the night being recognized for all of her hard work and dedication in the film industry.
Black Girls Rock founder Beverly Bond and her husband Bazaar Royale hit the carpet before saluting some awesome black women in the industry.
Tatyana Ali was tapped to conduct interviews for the post show. We're feeling her black lace jumpsuit.
British singer Estelle, who has a new album titled True Romance out now, hit the carpet in an interesting look.
Songstress Bridget Kelly worked a strapless printed Cedric Charlier dress paired with strappy Pierre Hardy heels.
First Lady Michelle Obama took the stage, looking stunning in a white off-the-shoulder dress, to deliver a powerful speech before an audience of amazing black women and young girls about the power, beauty and perseverance of black women. She passionately said,
"No matter who you are, no matter where you come from, you are beautiful. I am so proud of you. My husband, your president, is so proud of you," she added. "We have so much hope and dreams for you."
She continued, “I know there are voices that you are not good enough. Each of those doubts was like a test that I either shrink away from or rise to meet. And I decided to rise."
She also spoke on the importance of education and how knowledge can take you to places you'd never imagine. She said,
"There is nothing more important than being serious about your education and why I am able to stand here tonight. ... I want every one of our black girls do to the same, and our black boys."
Say it First Lady!

Iconic actress Cicely Tyson dressed in all white took the stage to accept her honor.
"Gotham" actress Jada Pinkett Smith was joined on her stage by her husband Will Smith who saluted his wife with a kiss after accepting her award.
Jill Scott rocked the stage with a musical selection, changing into beautiful teal gown.
Songstress Erykah Badu was one of the night's honorees and she also hit the stage to perform.
R&B singer Fantasia brought down the house with a powerful performance.
The Smiths were all smiles backstage after Jada received her award.
Fun times….."Black Girls Rock!" will air Sunday, April 5th at 7/6c on BET.

Tiny MOVES OUT from living with T.I?
Last year, in the midst of their highly publicized marital problems, rapper T.I. moved out of the mansion he shared with his wife Tiny and their blended family.
Looks like Tiny has pulled up stakes, too…

According to Straight from the A Tiny bought a $1.4 million house in Henry County GA last October with only HER name on the deed.

T.I. and Tiny have been spotted together on numerous occasions since their allege break-up most recently on the red carpet for T.I.'s movie premier for Get Hard starring Kevin Hart.

Moviegoers Go 'Home’, Rather than 'Get Hard' Rihanna #1 Kevin Hart #2
DreamWorks Animation's Home (2015) was a huge hit with family moviegoers this weekend, taking first place with an excellent $54 million.
Will Ferrell/Kevin Hart comedy Get Hard also put up strong numbers in second place, while indie horror movie It Follows did decent business in its nationwide expansion.

Among recent family-friendly movies, Home's $54 million debut is in the same ballpark as Big Hero 6 ($56.2 million) and The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water ($55.4 million). It also ranks as one of the top non-sequel movies ever for DreamWorks, behind Kung Fu Panda ($60.2 million) and Monsters Vs. Aliens ($59.3 million).
In fact, it's the biggest debut for a DreamWorks movie since its distribution deal began with 20th Century Fox in early 2013; that includes How to Train Your Dragon 2, which opened to $49.5 million last June.

If Home follows the same pattern as Monsters vs. Aliens and Mr. Peabody & Sherman, it will finish with around $180 million. With an "A" CinemaScore and virtually no competition on the way, there's a chance it holds up better than that.
So far, 2015 has proved to be a fantastic year for family-friendly movies. All of last year, only four family movies earned over $150 million at the domestic box office; The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water and Cinderella have already made it there, and Home will eventually join them. Looking ahead, there's a realistic chance that Inside Out, Minions, The Peanuts Movie and The Good Dinosaur all reach this level as well.
While Home easily took first place, Get Hard was no slouch either: playing at 3,175 locations, the R-rated comedy opened to an estimated $34.6 million this weekend. That ranks third all-time among live-action Ferrell movies, and ranks second among Hart's recent slew of leading roles (behind Ride Along).
The movie's audience was 54 percent male and 61 percent were 25 years of age or older. Word-of-mouth is mixed ("B" CinemaScore), and reviews are terrible; add in the fact that this faces direct competition from Furious 7 next weekend, and there's a chance that this falls off quickly. Still, a final total over $100 million isn't out of the question.

Kandi Burruss & Husband Todd Tucker Get Another Spin-Off Show, Tentatively Titled “Meet The Tuckers”
Looks like “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kandi Burruss and her husband Todd Tucker will be bringing their marital drama on a new show. The Tuckers have landed yet another spin-off show, following their wedding special docu-series “Kandi’s Wedding.” And the two will be starring on the BRAVO mini-series tentatively titled, “Meet The Tuckers.”

A source close to production tells sources their new spin-off will be much like their wedding special with about 4 episodes or so. It will be centered around the Tuckers working to revitalize their marriage.

Like most marriages, the honeymoon stage wears off and issues arise that need to be worked out to save the marriage. We’ve seen some of their issues play out on “RHOA” where Kandi has suggested they start marriage counseling. So, we will likely see what goes down once they really get into it and do "the work."

We've also been told Mama Joyce is on board for the mini-series. She and Kandi were all smiles at her daughter Riley's track meet recently:
A rep for Kandi tells us they can’t confirm anything on the record. But, our production sources say we’ll have a trailer very soon. Stay tuned....

UMMMMMMM, Mariah Carey is NOT Dating Brett Ratner
Mariah Carey and longtime friend Bret Ratner are NOT dating, contrary to popular rumors.
The two have been friends for years, and have worked together on numerous projects — and that is the completely extent of their ‘relationship’.

Yes, it’s true that they’re in St. Barts together celebrating their birthdays (Mariah’s was March 27th, Brett’s the 28th), but Brent is already involved with a ravishing young lady (pictured on Bret’s arm above).
We heart TMZ, but they definitely got this one way wrong.

Roger Moore Takes Back Racist Idris Elba James Bond Jab
Roger Moore, an actor who played the iconic James Bond character in film made what some felt was a racist jab towards English actor, Idris Elba. Moore seemingly balked at Elba playing Bond but has since backtracked on comments he made in a magazine.
Moore, who played Bond in seven films, was quoted in an interview in Paris Match magazine where he not only took a dig at Elba but also threw Cuba Gooding Jr. under the bus as well.
“A few years ago, I said that Cuba Gooding Jr. would make an excellent Bond, but it was a joke,” said Moore “Although James may have been played by a Scot, a Welshman and an Irishman, I think he should be ‘English-English’. Nevertheless, it’s an interesting idea, but unrealistic.”

The last portion of his comment was apparently aimed at the speculation that Elba would play the super spy after the Sony Pictures email hack revealed talks of that role switch occuring. The Grio reported on the backlash that Moore received over his viewpoints, and the actor took to Twitter and essentially took back his comments.
“An interview I gave to Paris Match implies I said something racist about Idris Elba. That is simply untrue. #Lost in translation,” tweeted More on Saturday.
Thus far, it doesn’t seem like Elba or his reps have issued any comments regarding Moore.
Do you think Idris Elba should play the iconic and traditionally white James Bond character? Sound off in the comments.
