Jill Scott Defends Bill Cosby: ‘Society Is Trying To Ruin A Magnificent Legacy’
Bill Cosby may have been turning his supporters off left and right as women continue to come forward with rape allegations, however, he still has a huge supporter in Jill Scott.
Earlier this year, Jill had a chance to befriend Cosby when he presented her with her honorary doctorate degree from Temple University, and today she spoke out in defense of his character. After one of her followers expressed that they were disappointed that she’d publicly support Bill Cosby after at least 15 women came forward with similar stories of how they were raped or taken advantage of by the actor, Jill Scott sent off these series of tweets:

Feeling as if Jill was missing the point, people immediately got hyped and came for her mentions, saying that she was only seeing one side of things because of her personal relationship with Bill Cosby.

Not wanting people to think that she isn’t pro-women and anti-rape, she went on to say:
We will respectfully have to agree to disagree.[…]Rape is a despicable, cowardly crime. If you’ve been raped- plz do NOT shower, go to police IMMEDIATELY, have a [rape] kit done. GET EVIDENCE.
Meanwhile, the criticism is catching up with Cosby so tough that he’s resigned as a member of the Board of Trustees at Temple University where he attended school, ran track and played football back in the ’60s.
