Queen Latifah poses as cover star for ESSENCE magazine’s November 2014 issue. Serving as guest editor for the issue, the singer, actress, CEO and daytime TV talk show host dishes on how she juggles her busy career and still finds happiness:
“I’m one of those people who has to stretch or I get bored—and I’m easily bored,” she admits.
Latifah is currently in partnership with BET to produce original programming at the Centric channel through her entertainment company, Flavor Unit. While there will be reprisals of the hit series Living Single and The Queen Latifah Show, Latifah’s most excited about creating and developing new programming for Black women.
She’s set to play Bessie Smith, in an upcoming HBO biopic. In talking about the 1920’s Blues singer she says:
She influenced rock and roll, with an effect on everybody from Mick Jagger to Janis Joplin. She was the first Black performer to appear before an integrated audience. She chased away Ku Klux Klansmen when they tried to to set fire to a tent where she was performing.

Phaedra Ordered to Answer Questions About Apollo
Earlier this year Phaedra Parks was accused of hindering the legal process after she refused to answer any questions about her husband Apollo Nida or his criminal activity while being deposed for a counter defamation of character lawsuit filed against her by Angela Stanton.
Phaedra has been ordered to talk… Two years ago Angela Stanton published her memoir 'Lies of a Real Housewife' accusing Phaedra of using her as the fall guy for a criminal operation amazingly similar to the scheme that got Apollo convicted of bank fraud and identity theft.
Since Apollo's conviction Phaedra has not been cooperating with the lawsuit and according to TMZ a judge just ordered Phaedra to sit for a second deposition and to answer any questions pertaining to Apollo fully and truthfully....Uh Oh!
Magic Johnson HONORED At The 2014 Carousel of Hope Ball
NBA Hall of Famer Earvin “Magic” Johnson was the man of the hour. He was honored at the 2014 Carousel of Hope Ball at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, benefitting Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes.
His wife Cookie, son EJ and daughter Elisa were all there to support their dad’s philanthropic efforts as they snapped a few pics with Sony Entertainment chief creative officer Clive Davis and Carousel of Hope Chairman Barbara Davis.
Magic and his loving wife of 23-years were all smiles during the ball.
Magic posed it up on the carpet with his son/"#RichKidsOfBeverlyHills" star EJ Johnson.
EJ showed off his new trim bod after getting gastric sleeve surgery this past August. Before going under the knife, EJ sought advice from Star Jones (who also had weight-loss surgery) and she told him, "A lot of people think it's the easy way out, but it's not. It's a step in the right direction, just a big push." Well alright.
EJ and sister Elisa made their rounds throughout the night.
Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds and music producer Jimmy Jam was there to support their friend.
Motown legend Berry Gordy and Grammy-Award winning singer Natalie Cole were all smiles during the ball.
And Natalie got kissy with legendary singer Johnny Mathis.
Looking dapper in all black, Magic took the podium to speak after receiving the Brass Ring Award for his humanitarian efforts.
And Los Angeles Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar also said a few words, congratulating Magic for his efforts.

She's been enjoying an extended family holiday in Paris.
So as she swaps the French capital for the British one, it appears Beyonce has also opted for a change in hairstyle.
The 32-year-old was spotted with a new much shorter fringe while at the Gare du Nord Station with Jay Z and daughter Blue Ivy as they took the Eurostar to London's St Pancras station on Tuesday.

The adorable girl wore a graphic jumper, a skirt, and black stockings with slip on shoes for the day of travel.
Earlier in their Parisian stay, Blue took her cuteness to new heights as she pranced around The Louvre in Paris wearing a pink spotted party dress and holding a camera.
The famous two-year-old pretended to snap photos of her parents - Beyoncé and Jay Z - as they enjoyed their cultural family outing in France.
Philadelphia International Records Sign Removed Ahead Of Demolition
The iconic Philadelphia International Records sign outside of the Sound Of Philadelphia building will be removed on Wednesday (Oct. 15), marking the end of an era. The label’s building, owned by legendary songwriters Kenny Gamble, Leon Huff and Thom Bell, was sold this week and will make way for a hotel and condominium project.
Gamble, Huff and Bell bought the property in 1970, leading to some prosperous years for the label. The recording studios within the building have been used by a variety of R&B legends over the years, including the late Michael Jackson, Patti LaBelle and Chubby Checker among others.
The building was the corporate offices for both Philadelphia International Records and Gamble-Huff Music. In 2010, an arson fire severely damaged the building and the group was never able to revive the structure.
Chuck Gamble, executive vice president for Philadelphia International Records and Gamble-Huff Music, says that artifacts within the building will be kept in storage for later consideration to be placed in museums.
The sign lowering event will take place Wednesday between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. The removal of the sign is open to the public, and the building is located at 309 S. Broad St. / Gamble Huff Walk, Philadelphia, PA 19107.

K. Michelle recognizes that it has come time to end the feud and in the interview, she gave some background on where it all began:
When I was going through the situation on Love & Hip Hop with the Toya thing and all of that type thing, she hopped in it like everyone else did. She hopped in it and basically tweeted I was lying. And I said, ‘I like Toni better anyway.’ That’s just me. And it continued. But from now on, it’s so funny how I’m the ‘bully,’ but if you, Necole, look at every fight, I never started it with her. I finished it. That I did.
She goes on to express how she truly does not “want to fight with her” and she just wants the both of them to sing.
We sincerely hope these ladies can put down their verbal weapons to coexist peacefully and focus on making music sooner than later!
FSU Investigates Jameis Winston Autographs, Fans Revolt With #BlameJameis Memes
Florida State University is currently probing to see if a considerable amount of Jameis Winston autographs were sold for money.
Via ESPN:
Even as Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher says he believes quarterback Jameis Winston didn’t sign autographs for money, a source tells ESPN that the university’s athletic compliance department has begun to look into how so many Winston autographs were authenticated by a single company.
Fisher then told reporters he wasn’t concerned that an autograph authentication business, which recently was linked to suspended Georgia running back Todd Gurley, also was linked to Winston.
James Spence Authentication certified more than 500 autographs of Gurley, who is being investigated for allegedly taking money for signings.
Yet even with the notorious reputation of the Heisman Trophy winner, fans are blaming ESPN and others who have reported the story for trying to keep him in boiling hot crab legs water, and protested with fallacious memes.

More Bad News For The Fallen Gladiator Columbus Short!
It seems like actor Columbus Short cannot seem to catch a break! First, his legal problems and getting the boot from Shonda Rhimes, now, he is being evicted!
With so much bad news for Columbus Short in these past few months more comes for the “Stomp The Yard” actor.
According to TMZ, Short was renting a place outside of L.A and once he fell about a month behind on the rent the landlord gave him the boot. With Short’s recent track record the landlord only gave him five days to get out of the home.
With all the reports, prayers do go out to Short and any of his recent endeavors because we never want to see another brother down spiral in the media’s eye!
Kesha: Dr. Luke Sexually Assaulted And Physically & Emotionally Abused Me
Dropping a bombshell on the music industry, Kesha has accused Dr. Luke of a variety of crimes including sexual assault and physical abuse.
In a new lawsuit, the “TiK ToK” singer says the multi-platinum producer has been harming her for years, with prolonged periods of physical, verbal and emotional abuse.
Furthermore, Kesha states that Dr. Luke previously drugged her and forced himself on her sexually.
On different occasions, he claims, he forced her to snort substances and take “sober pills” that caused her to wake up naked in his bed with no memory of the previous evening.
Kesha’s attorney told TMZ that she’s seeking to “regain control of her music career and her personal freedom after suffering for ten years as a victim of mental manipulation, emotional abuse and an instance of sexual assault.”

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle Arrested For Stealing Underwear & Cologne
Dallas Cowboys reserve running back Joseph Randle has yet to score a touchdown in the 2014 NFL season on just 16 carries, and apparently that struggle has affected his common sense.
The 22-year-old second year player was just popped for shoplifting underwear and cologne from Dillard’s in Stonebriar Centre Mall in Frisco, Texas.
The struggle report via ESPN:
Randle was charged with a misdemeanor Class B theft of $50 to $500, according to Frisco, Texas, police. He was released on writ bond at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday.
The arrest report states that store security officers, watching via the closed-circuit surveillance system, observed Randle purchase an item at the perfume counter before walking to the underwear section and concealing merchandise in his Dillard’s bag. He then exited the store before being stopped by security in the parking lot.
The store security officers recovered from Randle a two-pack of black Polo underwear valued at $39.50 and an almost full “tester” bottle of Gucci Guilty Black cologne valued at $84.
After being placed in the back of a police car, Randle told Frisco police officer Jason Kimbrough that he would have just kept walking to his car when confronted by security officer Raymond Wymer — the “old guy,” Randle called him — if he had known he would be arrested, according to the arrest report.
For the record, the former fifth-round draft pick makes $495,000 a year. Subtract the $123.50 and that is still $494,876.50. Yeah, the math isn’t adding up.

After a night out on the town, newly-single Amber Rose was spotted leaving Chinawhite nightclub with footballer Samuel Eto'o in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A source tells MailOnline that Amber, who recently announced her split from rapper husband Wiz Khalifa, departed the West End hot-spot moments after the Everton FC footballer at 3:30 am.
The source adds that the sportsman's car was then spotted outside her London hotel before 4 am, prior to the statuesque skinhead's arrival.

Kenya Moore DONATES $20,000 Check To Detroit Public Schools After SECOND Cancelled Appearance
“RHOA” on-screen vilian Kenya Moore was scheduled to appear at a Detroit High School last week, with the promise of a $20,000 check. But she was a no show. No Kenya. No money nada. In fact, this was the seond time she went M.I.A. on the high school and had to reschedule.
Kenya (a 1989 Cass Tech grad) was suppose to attend an assembly on Friday at Cass Technical High School, but ended up being a no-show after an alleged scheduling conflict involving her family. Her PR team confirmed she had still planned on donating the funds, so she took to Instagram to prove she wrote a check her a** could cash.
She posted to Instagram,
I'm proud to be able to give back and keep my promise to the Detroit public schools foundation to donate $20,000. Detroit is a resilient city and so am I. The Film 'Addicted' Does Well in Limited Release
The movie Addicted, based on the Zane erotic novel of the same name, does well at the box office in limited release…
Addicted managed to pull in $7.6 million in its opening weekend, landing at no.7 in box office rank, despite opening in just 846 theaters nationwide.
The No. 1 movie this week is 'Gone Girl' with $26.8 million in box office receipts, after showing in 3,284 theaters.
The fierceness is while Gone Girl averaged $8,161 per screen Addicted averaged $8,983 per screen.....WERK!
