Many came out to Celebrate the Life of Maya Angelou at her Memorial
Maya Angelou liked to say that people will forget what you said or did in your life, but they will never forget how you made them feel. Former President Bill Clinton, First Lady Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey said Saturday they were among the millions touched by Angelou's wisdom when they needed help to rise.

Family and friends, both famous and anonymous, gathered Saturday to remember one of the 20th century's most famous black writers. Amid tears, laughter, and gospel singing, they met at Wake Forest University, where she taught for 32 years though she never graduated from college. Dr. Angelou, as she liked to be addressed out of respect for all the honorary degrees she received, died May 28 at age 86.
Hers was a remarkable life, linking worlds of civil rights, poetry, acting and teaching — those present recalled at the two-hour-long tribute.

"We could just all be up here talking about how Maya Angelou represented a big piece of American history. And triumphed over adversity. And proved how dumb racism is," Clinton said at the private memorial service. "But her great gift in her action-packed life was she was always paying attention. And from the time she starting writing her books and her poetry, what she was basically doing was calling our attention to the things she'd been paying attention to. And she did it with a clarity and power that will wash over people as long as there is a written and spoken language."

The words of the indomitable woman, who Clinton said seemed to pack five lifetimes into one, changed a little black girl on the south side of Chicago whose Malibu Barbie doll was the standard of female perfection.
"Her voice lifted me right out of my own little head," Obama told those gathered in the wooden pews of the main campus chapel. A large photo of her husband awarding Angelou the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2011 hung from the campus chapel's oak wall.

The first lady added, "She told us that our worth has nothing to do with what the world might say. Instead, she said, each of us comes from the Creator trailing wisps of glory. She reminded us that we must each find our own voice, decide our own value, and then announce it to the world with all the pride and joy that is our birthright as members of the human race."
Tall and majestic, Angelou added heft to her spoken words with a deep and sonorous voice. She once described herself as a poet in love with "the music of language." She recited the most popular presidential inaugural poem in history, "On the Pulse of Morning," when Clinton opened his first term in 1993.

Clinton remembered that voice, and how Angelou chose not to speak for five years after she was raped by her mother's boyfriend as a child.

"She was without a voice for five years and then she developed the greatest voice on the planet. God loaned her His voice," Clinton said. "She had the voice of God. And he decided he wanted it back."

Winfrey said the close and constant friend she met before becoming a talk show host could shake her out of bouts of self-doubt. Angelou taught her to look beyond trouble and spot the rainbow in the clouds, Winfrey said.

"Maya Angelou is the greatest woman I have ever known," Winfrey said, then almost sobbing: "She was my anchor. So it's hard to describe to you what it means when your anchor shifts."
Winfrey and Obama, seated next to each other in the chapel's front row, swayed in unison as Grammy-winning gospel singer Bobby Jones prompted hands to wave and clap. Actor and producer Tyler Perry assisted actress Cicely Tyson and former United Nations Ambassador Andrew Young to the podium before country singer Lee Ann Womack drew cheers with her hit "I Hope You Dance."

Angelou was born Marguerite Johnson in St. Louis and raised in Stamps, Arkansas, and San Francisco. Her life included writing poetry by age 9, giving birth as a single mother by 17, and becoming San Francisco's first black streetcar conductor. She also danced at a strip joint, sang on records, acted alongside James Earl Jones and earned a Tony nomination for her work on Broadway. She wrote music and plays, received an Emmy nomination for her acting in the 1970s TV miniseries "Roots" and danced with Alvin Ailey.

Angelou also worked as a coordinator for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and lived for years in Egypt and Ghana, where she met South African liberation pioneer Nelson Mandela. In 1968, she was helping the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. organize the Poor People's March in Memphis, Tennessee, where the civil rights leader was slain on Angelou's 40th birthday.

Her son, Guy Johnson, said Angelou's last decade was filled with pain — the toll of her career as a professional dancer and respiratory failure. She was bound to a wheelchair and oxygen tanks. Still, she was able to write four more books, had all of her mental faculties, and died quietly in her sleep.

"There is no mourning here," he said.

S.I.P Maya!

DWIGHT HOWARD?!: NBA Baller ALLEGEDLY Flies Out Young Chicks To Florida Hotel…Where Is His Girlfriend Christine Vest?
Hmm…what do we have here? Some pics popped up on these internet streets and it looks like Dwight Howard inside of a hotel room with two young girls. Come inside to see for yourself…
*squints* Is that you Dwight Howard?
Wait for it...
Hmm...surely looks (exactly) like him.

Houston Rockets baller Dwight Howard has plenty of extra time on his hands now after the Portland Trailblazers defeated his team in the Western Conference playoffs. And it seems he’s allegedly spending that extra time with some young tenderonis.

Twitter is buzzing over these alleged pics of Dwight Howard in a room with two young ladies…who look way to young to be in a hotel room with Dwight. But according to one or more of the ladies' Twitter account(s), he supposedly flew them out to Florida to come visit him:
The girl who posted these pictures, age unknown, is allegedly named Debbie and it appears she’s possibly still in HIGH SCHOOL. She’s pissed…for whatever reason so she decided to BLAST Dwight on Twitter with pics. She was on a mission:

And she also posted this alleged text message conversation between him and her (which we can't really make out what they're saying) but there is no confirmation if it's really him or not.
Sighs...

It appears "Debbie" has deleted her Twitter and of course, Dwight hasn't said anything. And we don't expect him to.

You’ll recall Dwight is currently in a relationship with “Christian singer” Christine Vest who birthed his child last year. Yep…she’s baby mama #...well we lost count (we think she’s circa #5). Wonder how she feels about her man allegedly partying it up in a hotel room with extra young-looking chicks...

Slowbucks Launches An Investigation Against 50 Cent Over Alleged Summer Jam Incident
All of the foolery that went down on stage during 50 Cent’s performance at Hot 97’s Summer Jam is turning into legal trouble and paperwork for 50, the alleged vicitim Slow of Slowbucks and others involved. Get the latest inside…

FOOLYWANG activities ensued during Hot 97’s Summer Jam at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey Sunday night.  And it all went down during 50 Cent’s performance.

You’ll recall, after 50 brought out Fabolous to debut their remix of "Cuffin' Season" along with the 100+ dudes on stage, all hell broke loose when a fight broke out towards the back of the stage.
Apparently, a rap duo that owns the clothing company “Slowbucks” (one guy is named Slow & the other Buck) were allegedly assaulted and one or both of them had their chain(s) snatched. 50 allegedly rocked the chain(s) for the remainder of his performance after the melee died down.

50 has gone on the record in an interview with Hot 97’s Angie Martinez to share his side of the story and he says he didn’t see ANYTHING. He revealed:

“I didn’t even see it. I was performing,” he said to Martinez and co-host DJ Enuff. “I look at Media Takeout and see the rumors and stuff like that, all these different things, but I’ve seen so many things about me that weren’t true…there were so many people. People didn’t’ leave the stage. The excitement of the show left everyone who was on the stage, and additional people were added on to it. So it was like a crowd. It felt like a park jam. “

“Do you think I want to be attached to that at this point? I don’t need that. It does nothing for me. People make mistakes all the time…”
Mmhmm…
Now Slowbucks is fighting back...the legal way.  He launched a civil investigation on 50 Cent and whomever else was involved over the alleged brawl that went down on stage at Summer Jam.

Bostany Law Firm says Slowbucks has teamed up with Civil Investigator John P. Bostany.  They believe his chain was snatched because 50 (and whoever was with him) allegedly sees the Slowbucks brand as competition,,,and they plan to file civil charges of brand dilution.

AllHipHop reports:
“They know he is the founder of Slowbucks, the #1 urban brand on the rise today. They want to hurt that brand and they are trying to hurt that brand we are going to put and end to that. We’re here, I’m a Trademark attorney, I’m a copyright attorney and I fight unfair competition,” said Civil Investgator John P Bostany.

According to Slowbucks’ civil investigator, he claims 50 is lying about not seeing anything because the video footage shows he watched the whole thing go down.
"I looked at the videos and I heard 50′s interview on [Hot] 97 by Angie, who did an excellent job. Questioning him and I heard his responses and his demeanor. If you look at him he says ‘oh I was looking at the crowd.’ I didn’t know what was going on behind me. I was happy that day.’ But if you look at him when he’s telling that story, he doesn’t look happy. He doesn’t look like he want to talk about it. If you look at the videos, every single one, whether he’s the one picking up the chain or not is irrelevant. His body is facing what’s going on and the he turns around, in the middle of it all, and faces the crowd."

He added,
"He had the courage and the strength to come here and remind everyone that no matter how rich or powerful some might become, how popular they may be, they still are not above the law."

And Slowbucks has taken to his/their Instagram to clear up that he isn't pressing criminal charges but rather civil charges, because, you know, these "street dudes" don't do cops.
And this:
Messy...

Usher Discusses Justin Bieber Drama in Nylon Guys July 2014
With a slew of platinum albums, multiple sold-out tours and a hit television talent show, Usher knows a thing or two about the blessings and curses that come with fame.
The “DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love” crooner chatted with Nylon Guys magazine about the past year of craziness with his mentee Justin Bieber.
"I gave every bit of advice and always told him it was up to him if he really wanted this. Now that he has it, as an adult, it's his to manage. Do I turn my head in shame based off of what I see, what I know? Nah, I don't because it's all part of life's process. Am I in it with him? Yeah."
Furthemore, Bieber’s blunders haven’t dampened Usher’s resolve to help newbie artists get a good start. "Artistic development made me who I am. Somebody took the time to help me find what it is that works for me as an entertainer and who I am as a music maker."
Still the laundry list of Justin’s offenses isn’t exactly comforting to the 35-year-old entertainer.
"It's unfortunate. I hate some of the things I hear. Is it all true? I don't know. But I will tell you this: Success comes with a price. Every person that has grown up, grows up with something. It ain't just perfect from the beginning."

Yaya DaCosta Cast As Whitney Houston In Angela Bassett's Lifetime Movie
Yaya DaCosta will play legendary singer Whitney Houston in Lifetime's biopic, due out in 2015, TVLine reported. DaCosta made her small-screen debut on "America's Next Top Model" Cycle 3, but has since appeared in "All My Children," Ugly Betty," House" and "Lee Daniels' The Butler." In the Lifetime movie, she'll play Houston as she deals with her volatile relationship with Bobby Brown and her early success in the music industry.

Angela Bassett will make her directorial debut with the film, which is tentatively titled "Whitney Houston." Shem Bitterman wrote the script and Larry Sanitsky will produce. (Both worked on "Betty & Coretta," the Lifetime movie in which Bassett starred last year.) At the time the film was announced Bassett, who starred in 1995's "Waiting To Exhale" with Houston, said in a statement, "I have such regard for both Whitney's and Bobby's amazing talents and accomplishments; and I feel a responsibility in the telling of their story. Their humanity and bond fascinates us all. I'm beyond excited to have this opportunity to go behind the camera and into their world."
