Vibe Unveils R&B’s Most Wanted Cover
Can you guess who Vibe chose as the new wave of “Soul Brothers” coming to take over the R&B game?
They’re all extremely different from one another.
You may be surprised by who’s behind these masks.
The reveal is only partly a shock. You could have easily guessed August Alsina would make the cut with all the noise he’s been making this year. And Mack Wilds is an old favorite who’s been transitioning from acting to singing more smoothly these days. But we were surprised to see Ed Sheeran make the cover of Vibe as a new soul brother to look out for. He’s the go-to guy if you are looking for some soulful acoustics.
Ed was just as surprised, saying:
“It’s definitely a surprise to be on the cover of Vibe, being British and ginger.”
The redhead made a lot of noise last year with his track ‘Give Me Love’, and its amazing video helped a lot too. In his profile, Ed talks about wanting to incorporate more hip-hop influence into his style of music.
“Just because I’m a man with an acoustic guitar doesn’t mean I have to play love songs. I want to straddle all worlds at once. I want to do my acoustic stuff, write for the biggest pop acts in the world, and also work with all the rappers I like, underground or not.”
Meanwhile, Mack Wilds reveals his struggle with people taking his transition into music seriously:
Where am I gonna survive in a world of 2 Chainz and Drake? Frank, Miguel and all of these guys. I remember coming across them and being like, ‘Yo, bro, I got some music coming up.’ And they’re like, ‘Okay, cool, how’s that movie going?
And August Alsina revealed why he turned to music versus selling drugs on the streets:
Crack f-cking ruined my family. So to be selling that shit and seeing what it do to people, you start to realize, ‘Damn, my heart might be a little too big for this sh-t.
Vibe will be releasing profiles written about each singer over the next few days, but all the fun happened during the photo shoot where Ed played an acoustic version of ‘Paranoid,’ while August enjoyed multiple mimosas and being fawned over by models on set.

Aaliyah Lifetime Biopic Will Reportedly Detail Relationship With R.Kelly
Now, we ALL want to know what REALLY went down between Aaliyah Haughton and R. Kelly. But since it doesn't seem the Haughton family is interested in working with Lifetime on the project (they're attempting to shut it down), where would the factual info come from? Surely not R. himself.
Page Six reports that the Aaliyah story on Lifetime will indeed explore and focus on their illegal marriage and relationship. And folks are pissed, despite the fact the movie will also span her life from 10 to 22.
The 1990s diva — who was tragically killed in a 2001 plane crash when she was just 22 — was alleged to have secretly, illegally married her mentor Kelly in 1994 when she was 15 and he was 27.
Though the couple denied the union, a marriage certificate was eventually revealed that falsely listed Aaliyah’s age as 18.
The marriage was reportedly annulled by her parents. The movie, starring Disney star Zendaya and based on a biography by Christopher John Farley, will cover Aaliyah’s life from 10 years old to her death at 22.
So will they also be exploring her relationships with Dame Dash and Jay Z as well? Hmmm.
Executive producer, Debra Martin Chase, told the publication, “Aaliyah’s personal and professional relationship with R. Kelly will be explored with care in the film as we set out to depict her life with the utmost respect. Above all else, it’s our hope to inspire an entirely new generation with her music and larger-than-life talent.”
The biopic, based on the bestseller “Aaliyah: More Than a Woman” by former Time Magazine music editor Christopher Farley, will film this summer and is slated to premiere this fall. Zendaya Coleman, slated to play Aaliyah, will record four of the late star's songs.

Starting off their week with a new film, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler got into character on the set of "Nest" in New York City
The former "SNL" besties rocked matching red tops as they carried gifts and chatted during a scene for their upcoming flick.
According to Variety, "Nest" is based on an original idea by Paula Pell, "who wrote her debut screenplay about two 30-something sisters who come home to find their parents’ house has been put up for sale and then spend a last wild weekend together."
The Jason Moore-directed comedy is set to hit theaters December 18, 2015, which happens to be the same date as "Star Wars: Episode VII."

Kardashian‘s daughter North West celebrated her 1st birthday with a party dubbed “Kidchella” – after the annual Coachella Music and Arts Festival.
Held in the backyard of Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick‘s Calabasas home on Saturday (June 21), the big bash was complete with teepees, a bouncy castle, food stands, and there was a big Ferris wheel for guests to ride on.
Kim’s sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner took to the mic along with Jaden Smith, to provide some entertainment, and their mom Kris Jenner posted clips from their performance to her Instagram. Tyga‘s girlfriend Blac Chyna brought their son King Cairo out for the fun, and according to E! News Ciara was there with baby Future, and La La Anthony with her son Kiyan.

DJ Drama Divorce Turns Nasty, Accuses Wife Of Using Their Business Cash To Fund Her Affairs
DJ Drama (real name Tyree Cinque Simmons) has fired shots at his estranged wife video vixen Summer Walker accusing her of taking their business money to fund affairs with other men while they were still together.
Reports theJasmineBRAND.com has just learned exclusively that Summer Walker filed an emergency motion in the divorce her estranged husband DJ Drama slapped her with.
Walker says that her and Drama were involved with several businesses prior to him filing for divorce. She claims they had a business bank account and they both took money out when needed. However, she says that Drama has now shut her out of the business and stopped depositing money into the account, along with denying her access to business property.
Walker says that the only income she has is made from those businesses. She filed docs for an emergency hearing in hopes the court would order Drama to pay her support to survive. She claims she is broke and cannot pay her bills at this time.
Drama then fired back on May 30th, stating that she didn’t provide the court with any proof of her allegations. He says that he has paid her $2,500 a month and plans on continuing to do so while the divorce is pending. Drama says Summer told his lawyers her expenses total 23k a month but he claims that the figure is incorrect. Reportedly, they have no kids and they lived with her for 2 years. In short, Drama alleges they never spent that kind of money per month, while they were together.
Drama explains to the court that he did cut her off their accounts because he says she withdrew cash to conduct her extramarital affairs.
On June 3rd, Walker filed docs in which she called Drama a liar, stating she wasn’t the one using the business money to cheat but rather he was using their money for adulterous relationships. She also explains the 23k a month in expenses is due to the couple having to pay out 21k a month to creditors they owe. The court has yet to make a ruling on whether Drama will pay his ex support.

He looks as though he’s been through it in the new video for his apology track to Paula Patton. In the clip, Robin stares the camera down as “I’m sorry”s and “Baby, please”s flash before the screen text-message style, while a pissed off Paula Patton look-alike stays distant and displeased throughout the video. He also cries on cute, and has a mysterious nose bleed which has us wondering, what does Paula think of all of this?

Christina Milian & Jas Prince Call It Quits…
Dang… I thought they were just the cutest couple. I know on Father’s Day Jas posted a pic of Christina’s daughter Violet saying “she was the love of his life, even though he wasn’t her biological dad.” So, this is a surprise to me. But, we’re hearing that the two have decided to call off their engagement. According to Us Weekly, Milian moved her belongings out of the couple’s home in Los Angeles on Thursday. Milian and Prince began dating in 2010, which was just months after she divorced The Dream. The couple had been engaged for about a year.
Hours before their breakup became public, Milian tweeted:
“I need a cocktail right now…” Prince, meanwhile, posted an inspirational quote via Instagram. “Keep Calm, Pray and Leave It All in God’s Hands,” the text in the picture reads. Prince also commented on the picture, writing, “All one can do!”
A week before Milian moved out, she hinted the relationship was in trouble.
“There comes a time in life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it,” Milian wrote on Instagram June 12. “Surround yourself with people who make you laugh, forget the bad, and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don’t. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is part of life, getting back up is living.” In the caption, the single mom added, “Morning inspiration. Turn your life around and do all the things that make you happy. It’s your life to live.”

Tens of thousands of ladies have fallen under the spell of a reputed California gangster’s steely-blue eyes, but there is at least one woman who isn't impressed by the online frenzy - the suspect's own wife.
Jeremy Meeks’ star-quality mugshot taken after his arrest this week on felony weapons charges has become an Internment sensation, with more than 89,000 'likes' on Facebook as of Saturday evening.
The 30-year-old career criminal has become an object of lust for women the world over who took to Facebook and Twitter lavishing praise on his high cheekbones, full lips and piercing blue eyes.
But Meeks’ spouse and the mother of his 3-year-old son is not amused by the collective swooning over her photogenic husband.
‘She's furious,’ Meeks' friend Simone Johnson told CBS 13 at his arraignment Friday. ‘Her man is in there and people are taking it as a joke, thinking it’s funny talking about his looks, saying all kinds of crazy things.’
Johnson added that she would not be surprised if Meeks' wife never shows her face in court because she is upset over the presence of media.
Another friend, Rajanique Davis, said Meeks' loved ones are angry because strangers are making light of a serious situation.
The good-looking arrestee's younger brother, Bryan Varela, told the station over the phone that his sibling had learned from his past mistakes and he is now a changed man.
Meek's public defender San Behar said he was shocked by the brouhaha surrounding his client.
'It's better than the attention my clients usually get,' he told CBS 13.
Officer Joseph Silva, a spokesman for the Stockton Police Department, which sparked the mugshot craze Wednesday after sharing Meeks' booking photo on its Facebook page, was equally surprise by the worldwide attention.
‘I have not seen that many likes for a photo before,’ he said.
Silva called Meeks ‘one of the most violent criminals in the Stockton area,’ though he would not elaborate on the crimes that Meeks is believed to have committed.
Chuck D Unveils Letter Tupac Sent To Him While Imprisoned
One can only imagine what it’s like to have a heart to heart conversation with the legendary Chuck D, let alone receive some encouraging words during hard times. That said, the Public Enemy frontman unveiled a letter that the late, great Tupac Shakur wrote to him during his 1995 stint in prison.
Captioned, “Letter from PAC but you should’ve seen mine,” the then Death Row rapper’s words were in correspondence to a letter Chuck D wrote previously. Shakur’s words were laden with admiration for the Hip-Hop pioneer. But there’s also an interesting tidbits about an album titled Euthanasia that clearly never surfaced. It was the West Coast MC’s hope that Chuck D would appear on a record called “Da Struggle Continuez,” a version which would later surface.
Shakur also mentioned a program that he wanted Chuck D, a noted activist in the Black community, to join. Earlier this month, audio from a phone call Shakur made to reformed gang member Sanyika Shakur, aka Kody “Monster” Scott, while imprisoned contained details of what said program would entail.
Big Boi & Sherlita Patton DROP The Divorce & Reconcile
Back in April, we noticed Big Boi and wife Sherlita were spending plenty of quality time together again, and getting all mushy with each other on Instagram. Sherlita was right by his side (above) as he and Andre 3000 made their big comeback and performed at Coachella. And weeks later, he posted a sweet Mother's Day message to her. Sherlita also rocked one of his branded hats in a pic she posted, letting everybody know she was back with her man.
Now it was revealed that the twosome officially tore up the papers and dropped the divorce since they've now reconciled. TMZ says they filed papers earlier this month to 86 the divorce. And we love it.
The couple, who has been married for 11 years, share 2 children together.
