Lupita Nyong'o Graces The Cover Of VOGUE's July 2014 Issue
If it wasn't official before, it's official now: Lupita Nyong'o has had the best 2013-2014 EVER. The breath taking Oscar winner is giving life to the new July '14 cover of VOGUE magazine. And even though this is her first VOGUE cover, chick slays effortlessly.
Her sumptuous photoshoot was done in May in Marrakech, shot by Mikael Jansson. She may have been a serious film student just over a year ago, but now, Ms. Nyong'o could teach more than a few lessons on model behavior.
With pics shot in places like a luxe spa that imitates a castle-like fort in the middle of the Palmeraie at El Fenn hotel (above she's wearing a Janis by Janis Savitt silver cuff with Prada red satin heels), chick still outshines the gorgeous scenery.
The new face of Lancôme did over 60 promotional events this past Award season, and pretty much shut down every single one becoming an IT girl of fashion. So it's only right the fashion bible--who's still catching shade for that Kanye & Kim cover--gives her the shine she deserves.
Here's a few of the highlights from one of Miu Miu's newest faces--
On her seemingly sudden stardom trajectory
“It just feels like the entertainment industry exploded into my life. People who seemed so distant all of a sudden were right in front of me and recognizing me—before I recognized them!”
On her first paparazzi experience
“For a split second I looked behind me to see who they were flashing at—and it was me! That was, I think, the beginning of the end of my anonymity.”
On her prom dress before graduating from an all-boys high school in Nairobi (that girls were only allowed to enter via placement tests)
“It was a velvet miniskirt with a matching little top and an iridescent silver translucent fabric that flowed to the ground,” she remembers. “It was kind of ridiculous, but it was fabulous at the time.”
On her Pinterest board she brought to her first meeting with stylist Micaela Erlanger
Bold color, interesting print, interesting silhouette—simple but architectural and feminine,” Erlanger remembers. “Elegance, but with a sense of humor.”
On their epic six-hour fittings
“It’s a job; it’s work, you know! We’d just try, try, try, try, try, try, try. At first it was very daunting, but I ended up really having fun with it.”
Their choices have run the gamut from Christopher Kane and Sacai to custom Prada and Chanel Haute Couture. Most times, she adds, “especially for the bigger awards, the dress let me know it was going to be worn. It’s quite scary when you fall in love with a dress, because it’s nothing to do with your brain. It’s like a gut reaction.”
On that epic Golden Globes dress
“We got goose bumps,” remembers [herstylist] of that fitting. “I told her, ‘This is going to be a game-changer.’ And it was.”
On her red carpet life
Before she embarked on her fashion marathon, “everyone said, ‘Brace yourself, Lupita! Keep a granola bar in that clutch of yours!’ ” she confides. “I didn’t really understand what they meant, and it was only once it was past that I realized that my body had been holding on by a thread to get through this very intense experience. Nothing can prepare you for awards season,” she continues. “The red carpet feels like a war zone, except you cannot fly or fight; you just have to stand there and take it.” She considers for a moment. “I hope they don’t make that the big quote!” she says, laughing. “Because that would be sad! Tell them not to do that!”
“My family is very close-knit,” she explains. “My aunt, who was an actor herself, would get all us children together to write and perform plays. I loved manipulating my parents’ emotions.”
On her journey to the Oscar
“I had already gotten the nomination, which was truly, truly astounding, and enough,” she remembers. “Even in my dreams of being an actor, my dream was not in the celebrity. My dream was in the work that I wanted to do.”
When her name was read out, the experience was, as she recalls, “very confusing, very numbing. I was just repeating my name in my head, so I didn’t know whether I had said my name or they had said my name! And then my little brother screamed, and time was suspended and it was just noise in my head.”

“True Blood” Musical in the Works
HBO’s vampire drama is coming to an end, but the legacy of “True Blood” will live on through the magic of the stage.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the hit series is getting its own musical.
“This was something that I pitched to HBO and Alan Ball [show creator],” Nathan Barr, the composer, said. Nathan wrote the instrumental scores for all seven seasons of the “True Blood.”
The musical will revolve around protagonist Sookie Stackhouse, portrayed by Anna Paquin. But after the twists and turns in the series, it is a true challenge to trim down the plot and make it into a two to three hour production.
"I think we're really going to try to return to the roots of the show," the composer commented.
Barr wants to hold a workshop version in a year and stated that he doesn’t want to say that the show is “Broadway bound.”
“There are no guarantees. But I think the direction we’re heading in is really exciting.”
Pitbull receives an honorary degree from Doral College
Pitbull is the first person ever to receives an honorary degree from Doral College earlier this month. Mr. 305 took to social media and posted a message and a picture today June 18, 2014 for his haters. “To everyone who tells you you can’t do something…” In the picture Pitbull is holding his middle finger up wearing a cap and gown and holding his honorary degree from Doral College, yes that’s right Dr. 305, Dr. Pitbuull!!! But not so fast, it appears that Doral College is a non-accredited institution. Congratulations Armando Christian Perez, aka Pitbull, has received an non accredited honorary degree from Doral College.

My girl over at theJasmineBRAND.com has learned exclusively that Chad Johnson is having financial issues. The 36-year-old, who came to fame in the NFL and became a reality star after dating and marrying former Basketball Wives star, Evelyn Lozada, is having some trouble with his bills, having recently been slapped with a lien over his Florida mansion.
Chad Johnson was hit with a lien by the Long Lake Ranches West Homeowners Association on June 12th in Broward County, FL. The doc states that Johnson failed to pay a total of $7,931 in fees to the Homeowners Association from October 1st 2012 to June 30th 2014, which he was supposed to be paying $1,133 per quarter.

The ladies of Destiny’s Child reunite on screen, for Michelle Williams‘ new single, “Say Yes.” Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland join their fellow bandmate in the fun and festive visuals.
“I’m so excited that I have my sisters here with me,” said Michelle, “spreading a positive message for the world.”
“This song is sooo inspiring, and it’s not enough music out there like this.. and I’m proud to be a part of it, Beyoncé shared while talking the uplifting song. Kelly added, “It’s so infectious, and I think the world needs to hear it.”

Washington Redskins Lose Trademark, Patent Office Says It's "Disparaging of Native Americans"
There has been ongoing drama behind the Washington Redskins use of the term "redskin" and whether or not it was racially/culturally insensitive to Native Americans. It looks like the US Patent and Trademark Office has made the decision for us by cancelling the Washington Redskins' trademarks to the Redskins name saying that it is 'disparaging of Native Americans.'
What does this mean for Washington? Simply put, the NFL team can still use and go by the name Washington Redskins but it would lose a significant portion of its ability to protect its financial interests related to the name. So, if you've been wanting to start that "Redskins Hot Dog Cart" now is your time. Like the Indian logo and want to put it on a few t-shirts? You probably can and will likely face no penalty what so ever.
The Washington Redskins plan to appeal the decision but experts say that, regardless, it is unlikely that the team will suffer business-wise from the trademark loss.
R&B Diva Monifah Secretly Marries Girlfrind Terez!
Monifah and longtime girlfriend Terez secretly got married back in February. The two love birds sat down to chat about their secret nuptials that took place in Honolulu.

A big congrats to R&B Diva Monifah on secretly jumping the broom. The lovely Diva sat down with Essence Magazine and shared their intimate wedding day details. The tow love birds got married back in February at an intimate ceremony at The Modern Hotel in Honolulu. Celebrity guests included cast mates Syleena Johnson, Meelah Williams, Angie Stone, LaTavia Roberson and KeKe Wyatt. Monifah tells Essence,
“It’s something I’ve never done before. It’s all new and wonderful. My life is merged and my spirit has merged with somebody else.”

“I was excited. I didn’t really have too many nerves. I made up my mind that I wasn’t going to be frazzled and crazy about stuff that was insignificant. Of course I wanted to be beautiful, but before we started planning I had already had in my mind that it’s going to be what it’s going to be and I’m not going to fret over things that were not in my control. I just cared about my wedding dress, good food, hair and makeup. With everything else, I was fine. It could have rained…whatever, as long as I was marrying my best friend. Acceptance is key.Seeing Terez’s face as I walked towards her. That’s all I saw. I focused on her. I didn’t want to cry, but she was crying so she almost made me cry. When she saw me, I could tell she was crying too.
We planned it in a couple of months, and really more like a month and a half. I’m too old for that!”

San Antonio Spurs CELEBRATE Their FIFTH NBA Championship Win With River Parade & Ceremony
The San Antonio spurs defeated the Miami Heat (104-87) during Game 5 on Sunday in their hometown and now it’s time to celebrate!
The city of San Antonio invited the community out to honor the Spurs with a river parade on the River Walk. Following the championship parade, the celebration will move to the Alamodome for a special ceremony.
San Antonio mayor Julian Castro released a statement on the team’s fifth win saying,
“The City is proud of our Spurs. This fifth championship cements the Spurs’ legacy as one of the greatest sports franchises in history.”
Tim Duncan, Finals MVP winner Kawhi Leonard (who landed on the newest cover of Sports Illustrated), Tony Parker, Minau Ginobli, Danny Green, the rest of the Spurs players, head coach Greg Popovich, assistant coaches and the entire organization came out to show off their latest NBA championship trophy.
Tim Duncan spotted holding the championship trophy and his daughter Sydney alongside teammates Patrick “Patty” Mills and Aron Baynes on the mic.
Tim Duncan has won a total of five NBA championships in 17 seasons, all with San Antonio. He is the 2nd player in NBA history to win an NBA championship in three different decades. He is also the first and only player to achieve this accomplishment as a starting player on each of the championship teams. Work!
22-year-old Kawhi Leonard (above) became the youngest NBA Finals MVP since Magic Johnson in 1980.
