"Wicked" And "Spring Awakening": Headed To The Big Screen
Two of Broadway's most successful musicals are reportedly headed for the big screen. According to multiple outlets, film versions of "Wicked" and "Spring Awakening" are in the works.
Stephen Schwartz, who composed "Wicked," told reporters things are "gearing up" for a film version of the hit, which is based on Gregory Maguire's 1995 novel surrounding the Wicked Witch of the West.
The stage version originally starred Broadway A-listers Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel.
As for "Spring Awakening," the coming of age story's original cast boasted big names including "Glee's" Lea Michele.

The stage show's composer Duncan Sheik told The San Diego Union-Tribune that they are hopeful a movie version would begin production this year.

Black Twitter Demolishes Marie Claire For Saying Kendall Jenner Invented Braids
Marie Claire's attempts in keeping up with a Kardashian has promptly bit them in the ass with the full sting of Black Twitter.
The long-thriving publication has a m.o. for promoting to youthful, white female audiences and they thought that championing of up-and-coming celebutante Kendall Jenner's new look would go over well across the globe. On their official Twitter, they made the mistake of blasting out, "Kendall Jenner takes bold braids to a new epic level," with a picture of the reality TV star sporting about six cornrolls in the side of her head.
With that, the walls of Jericho came tumbling down with meme references and puzzled reactions as to why Marie Claire just didn't praise a Black woman for the look they've sported for ages.
The magazine's handler quickly issued an apology after the slander became insurmountable stating, "We didn't mean to offend or imply that cornrows were new. Our tweet was poorly worded. We thought her hair looked great and recognize women have been styling their hair like this for ages."
The damage had been done and their reputation was tarnished for at least, the day.

Rapper C-Murder Seeks New Trial
The 43-year-old is serving his sentence at the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola, for second-degree murder in the Jan. 12, 2002, death of 16-year-old Steve Thomas, of Marrero.

Two state juries convicted him. His first conviction was overturned. He was convicted a second time in August 2009.
Miller, 43, maintains his innocence. His attorney, Rachel Conner, filed a post-conviction relief application in state court in Gretna last month. She raised 10 points to support her assertion that her client didn’t get a fair trial. Conner said she plans to raise more points later.
Primary among the assertions is what she described as irregularities during the jury’s deliberations. One juror cast a guilty vote not based on the evidence but because she wanted to end deliberations to protect another juror who refused to convict Miller but was targeted by other jurors to change her mind, Conner wrote.
Miller accuses the trial judge, Hans Liljeberg, of forcing the jury to reach a verdict, after jurors said they could not decide. “The clear message to this jury of laypeople who wrote seven notes (to the judge) and attempted multiple times in open court (to say) that they were unable to proceed, was that the only way to ‘get out of here’ and end the process was to reach a 10-person verdict,” Conner wrote.

One juror, Mary Jacobs, said she did not believe prosecutors proved their case. Nonetheless, she cast the 10th vote that led to Miller’s conviction.
Days after the trial ended, she contacted The Times-Picayune and in an interview told reporters that she changed her vote to guilty to spare the young woman from further grief. Conner uses that news story as evidence to support the argument that Miller did not get a fair trial.

“Mr. Miller’s constitutional rights were violated and there is a reasonable possibility that the jury would have hung, causing a mistrail, but for the belief by juror Jacob that the only way to end the deliberations and protect a younger juror who would not change her vote and was being ‘brutally abused’ by the majority to the point of ‘throwing her guts up’ was to change her own vote from not guilty to guilty,” Conner wrote. “Mr. Miller is entitled to relief on this basis.”

Should the civil case go to trial, the only question to be addressed is whether Miller should pay damages and, if so, the amount. Miller’s attorney in that case, Roy Maughan Jr., of Baton Rouge, has said the rapper is broke.

NY Teen Accepted Into All 8 Ivy League Schools; D.C. Teen Accepted to 5
It is so good to hear stories about young black kids and future leaders who are making education their priority! In news that is worth reading, two young men are headed to the Ivy League school of their choice.
This week, 17-year-old students, Kwasi Enin and Avery Coffey, found themselves making headlines after they were accepted into multiple prestigious colleges, all of which are some of the most difficult schools to get into. Washington D.C.’s Avery has his pick of five: Harvard, Princeton, Yale, the University of Pennsylvania, and Brown; while New York native Kwasi was accepted to all eight Ivy League schools: Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Princeton, University of Pennsylvania, and Yale.

According to CNN, although Kwasi placed high marks on his SATs, it was his extracurricular activities that helped him get acceptance letters from each school:

“I simply thought I would apply. I was hoping to get one or two. Then they all came, and I said, ‘There’s no way.’”

Enin scored a 2250 out of a possible 2400 on his SAT, placing him in the 98th percentile across the country, according to The College Board. He’s also ranked 11th in his class at William Floyd High School, a public school on Long Island, according to his principal, Barbara Butler.

Butler said Enin is not only a model academic student but also plays three instruments for the chamber orchestra, sings in an a cappella group, throws shot put and discus for the high school’s track and field team, participates in student government and has had a lead role in school plays since the ninth grade.
“Usually kids are good athletes or good musicians or good actors, but they don’t have all three and then on top add student government. It’s a balancing act. He somehow finds time to do it all and then volunteer at a local hospital,” Butler said.
Although he has a choice, Kwasi thinks he may end up at Yale:

I think my preference is Yale. They seem to embody all the kinds of things I want in a college: the family, the wonderful education, the amazing diverse students, and financial aid as well. So I think Yale has all that for me right now. I still have to compare all these schools—these wonderful schools.

Avery Coffey accepted to 5 Ivy League schools
Meanwhile, Avery Coffey, who grew up in a single-parent household in one of the poorest areas in D.C., believes he will either end up at University of Pennsylvania or Harvard depending on the financial aid he is able to receive. He plans to major in finance with hopes of being the CEO of an investment or finance management firm.

Kudos to both young men!

Nicki Gives BACK! Nicki Minaj Throws Her Little Brother A 16th Birthday Bash + Nicki DONATES A Pink Wig To Young Cancer Patient
Nicki Minaj threw a birthday party for her little brother Micaiah’s 16th birthday.  Surrounded by family, including her mother Carol, and friends, Nicki treated Micaiah to a New York Knicks’ cake made by “Cake Boss” Buddy Valastro and his very own thrown.

Nicki shared, “They can take it all. Just leave me with these two. Jelani, my big brother.... Love of my life. LOVE of my life. He's not flashy so him "casually" showing off a Rolex made me crack up. Nothing else matters if u don't have the ppl who hold your heart right by your side.”

And of course, her man Safaree “SB” Samuels was there. Nicki and SB were spotted over the weekend rocking matching rings on their ring fingers (again). In case you forgot, Nicki & SB were caught wearing matching rings in Cabo celebrating “10 years.” 10 years of what exactly? We're not too sure.

Also.....

Nicki is all about her young Barbs, Nicki granted a young cancer patient’s wish. Damiyah was diagnosed with cancer recently and her one wish was to meet the YMCMB first lady and to get one of Nicki’s pink wigs. SIDENOTE: Nicki looks gorgeous without all the wiggery and make-up.
Washington Wizards point guard John Wall got wind of Miyah’s wish and took to social media to make her dream come true. He tweeted, “Fans I need your help to get my buddy Miyah’s wish granted. She’s a 5 year old battling cancer and her wish is to meet @NickiMinaj and get one of her pink wigs! I need your help, comment on this photo. Let’s get Miyah’s one of Nicki’s pink wigs!”
In the “do gooder” spirit, Nicki hung out with the little girl on Sunday and presented her with her very own pink wing. In return, the young Barb gave Nicki a bracelet. Cute.

Nicki reminded the adorable 5-year-old that she’s beautiful without the pink wig and to stay in school:
Nice!

The BeeHive sues The Queen Bey?
Two members of the BeyHive are suing their Queen after getting trampled at her concert...

Chicago BeyHive members Raquel Castellanos and Gabriella Davidson are suing Beyonce for an undisclosed amount after they were pushed over by a "rushing mob" entering The United Center for the Mrs. Carter Show on December 13, 2013.

Raquel and Gabriella claim they were trampled, knocked unconscious and suffered broken bones after the crowd rushed the doors at the United Center.

Raquel and Gabriella blame Beyonce, The United Center and Live Nation for not organizing an orderly plan of entry for the huge crowd waiting to get inside for the show.

Jodeci’s DeVante Swing Spotted With The Jacksons
Who didn’t love them some DeVante Swing back when Jodeci wanted us to forever be their lady?
Since that time, the producer/songwriter has gone through some ish, including a reported 2013 drug-related arrest and another 2010 arrest for public drunkenness.

But now it looks like he’s on the road to wellness. This week, a fan uploaded a video of the producer backstage with Jackson 5 and Flavor Flav after a Jackson 5 show in Vegas on Monday night and he looks to be doing pretty good.

The fan posted:
DeVante Gave Us permission to post other exclusive footage!!! . .. . .. . .. Thank you DeVante!! DeVante always wanted to work with the Jackson’s Last night was Surreal
Timbaland, Devante Swing, Larry Jackson
This sighting comes four months after Interscope exec Larry Jackson posted a half-shot of DeVante in the studio with Timbaland, along with the caption:

Timbaland x LJ x Devante Swing. Mix session for first Jodeci album in 17 years! The reunion is on. Think I was a freshman in high school when these guys were last out. #Collaboration #WeWorkSundays #NoDaysOff
Who’s ready for some new Jodeci?! LOL!

Phaedra’s is the one dishing NeNe’s shady Past?
Last month, before it reached the mainstream media, NeNe Leakes was put on blast by sources who claimed NeNe's own family members were planning to write a tell-all book exposing her criminal past. But it wasn’t them it was PHAEDRA!

Backfence Chat, who broke the original story, claims Phaedra was the one who told NeNe's estranged family members about her arrests.

According to Backfence Chat
Some people have questioned the culprit behind Nene Leakes's criminal past being exposed. Accusing Kenya Moore, Marlo Hampton, and Star Jones.
A member of Nene Leakes's family spilled the tea to me. I was told by the family member, Phaedra Parks pulled up Nene Leakes's mugshots and criminal history in front of her, Kandi, and Sheree a while (years) back. Phaedra Parks outed Nene to the family member (allegedly).

VH1 Single Ladies Moving to Another Network?
It seems that the very canceled Single Ladies will be having a new home soon, since their contract wasn’t renewed for a fourth season could they get another shot at redeeming the show?

According to AlwaysAlist.com:
AlwaysAList.com has since learned exclusively that producers of the series have began putting out feelers with other networks to see if there could be interest in picking up the show.
We reached out to reps at BET about the possibility of them acquiring the show and they were coy on the matter.
“We can not comment at this time,” is all a network publicist would tell us. They did not deny they were interested when pressed further.

I actually liked the show, but I don’t want BET to pick it up. Anybody but BET… Try OWN…

Columbus Short's VICTIM Won't Press CHARGES
"Scandal" star Columbus Short scored a hail mary when the guy he pummeled at an LA bar decided against pressing charges!  Find out why inside and get the scoop on Wale's WWE smackdown!

Good news for Columbus Short.  Because the victim of his Huck-styled beat down has decided against pressing charges, Columbus may avoid jail time and will have more time to pursue his recording career ( "Gave Ya") and take family walks through the Grove..
If you're wondering how you can knock a guy unconscious, break his nose AND avoid jail time...it all comes down to "family ties."  According to TMZ, Columbus AND the victim are friendly with the same social circle and have struck some type of deal through Columbus' management and lawyers. Of course, Columbus will be paying the victim's medical bills and we imagine a nice little settlement check will arrive in the mail too.

Legally....the victim has made it clear he doesn't want the case pursued criminally.  LAPD could still "try" to pursue the case criminally without the victims' consent...but that USUALLY does not happen.  Hopefully, this will not affect his probation (you know he has a HISTORY of violence).

SMH......another Gladiator has been RESCUED from his past.

Yandy Smith Welcomes Her Baby's Father Mandeecees Home From Jail...On A $600K Bond
After Mandeecees was sent to Yates County Jail (right outside of Rochester) January 2013, Yandy is celebrating her April Fool's Day with a very real dream come true--her boo is home.

While the VH1 cameras (you already KNOW they were front and center) waiting outside of the Yates County Jail, USA Today reports that U.S. District Judge Frank Geraci Jr. agreed to release Mendeecees on a $600,000 bond, $200,000 of which Yandy agreed to put up.
In case you forgot why Mandeecees was hemmed up in the county jail:
Mandeecees was taken into federal custody last year after authorities seized millions of dollars in cash and jewelry from the 35-year-old reality star and his alleged cohorts Tyrus Harris (his brother) and Ronald “Kellz” Walker.
Walker, who was said to have arranged for the distribution of 40 kilos of cocaine and a single kilo of heroin through New York City, pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges and money laundering last August, and he was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Mandeecees’ brother Tyrus pleaded guilty before Judge Geraci on Monday, and he faces a prison sentence of about five to seven years.
And even though most figured Mandeecees would face the same fate as Kellz and Tyrus, he may not since he's actually being released.  Whether rumors of snitching will pop up...time will tell.  He will have to face the judge during future court dates.

But right now, Mandeecees is only concerned about his girl (who often went oout of her way to hold her man down and attempt to clear his name) and partying:
After getting scooped up by Yandy and co., Mandeecees took to IG and said, "I need a drink now!! Where we @2night?!!! Bro @mr_camron wassup @vado_mh I see u.."
Well isn't that...special.

Khloe Kardashian Considering Reconciliation with Lamar Odom?
Khloe Kardashian may give estranged husband Lamar Odom another chance.
Khloe Kardashian had a tough time last year – after allegations that husband Lamar Odom both cheated on her and was battling a serious drug addiction, she started divorce proceedings in December.
But heat has learned that Khloe is actually thinking of giving her marriage a second chance.
“She is going to call off the divorce and wants to take her time to see if they can make it as a couple again,” an insider tells heat.

In fact, in March this year Khloe admitted that she’s still not over her split from her basketball player hubby – she told a radio station in Australia, “It's definitely not anything I'm through. I'm going through it, but I'm not through it.”
But a reconciliation isn’t something that Khloe’s momager Kris Jenner and her sisters are happy about. “They’re trying to show her tough love by saying they won’t entertain Lamar bring back in life again,” the source explains. Sounds like 2014 could be just as tough for Khloe
