The Daily Bus For April 11

Lupita Nyong’o Covers Marie Claire; Talks Style More
Lupita Nyong’o is pretty in pink on the cover of Marie Claire’s latest issue. The 12 Years a Slave star, and new Brand Ambassadress of Lancôme beams in a strapless, pink Christopher Kane dress.
Inside the issue, she talks how her style has evolved since meeting her stylist, Micaela Erlanger, the anxiety she felt as she waited for her category at awards shows, and meeting Sidney Poitier.

On her how style has evolved:
I wasn’t a follower of fashion. It was a world unknown. Then I met my stylist, Micaela Erlanger [introduced to her by friend and Non-Stop costar Michelle Dockery], and we came to interpret my style: clean lines, strong color. I don’t dress to impress; I don’t feel that pressure.

On the anxiety she felt while waiting on her category at awards shows:
I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. It’s an internally loud moment. It’s not even about the outcome; it’s about the agony of the unknown. It’s like waiting for test results in a hospital.
On meeting Sidney Poitier:
I met Sidney Poitier, who has been someone I’ve looked up to and a blessing from afar. It was an incredible thing and something that I hold very dear to my heart.

And on people admiring her beauty, she says; “BEING CALLED GORGEOUS is not a bad thing!”

"Single Ladies" REVIVED At Centric
Good news for all the “Single Ladies” fans out there! After it was reported VH1’s scripted series “Single Ladies” was getting the axed from the network after three seasons, the show has found a new home on BET Networks' Centric TV.

Queen Latifah's Flavor Unit Entertainment company has partnered up with Centric TV to bring an all-new fourth season of the romantic comedy series. No word on if the new season will bring back stars LisaRaye, Charity Shea and Denise Vasi, but here's to hoping they do. Flavor Unit will also be creating/producing new shows for the network as well.

Stephen Colbert to replace David Letterman on "Late Show"
CBS didn't waste too much time finding a new host for the "Late Show." Exactly a week after David Letterman announced his plans to retire, his successor has been named.
Stephen Colbert, the host, writer and executive producer of "The Colbert Report," will replace Letterman in 2015.
"Stephen Colbert is one of the most inventive and respected forces on television," CBS Chairman and CEO Les Moonves said in a statement Thursday. "David Letterman's legacy and accomplishments are an incredible source of pride for all of us here, and today's announcement speaks to our commitment of upholding what he established for CBS in late night."

The 49-year-old Colbert, who signed a five-year deal, said in a statement: "Simply being a guest on David Letterman's show has been a highlight of my career. I never dreamed that I would follow in his footsteps, though everyone in late night follows Dave's lead. I'm thrilled and grateful that CBS chose me. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go grind a gap in my front teeth."

Colbert's premiere date will be revealed after Letterman figures out a timetable for his final episodes. According to CBS, "Late Show" creative elements, as well as the producers and the location for the Colbert-hosted "Late Show" will be announced at a later date.
Moonves says Colbert will not portray his Comedy Central character when he hosts the late-night show. He wouldn't comment on the salary, but told CBS News Colbert will be very happy.

The news will leave a big gap in the lineup at Comedy Central, which has aired "The Colbert Report" since 2005. The network issued the following statement Thursday: "Comedy Central is proud that the incredibly talented Stephen Colbert has been part of our family for nearly two decades. We look forward to the next eight months of the ground-breaking 'Colbert Report' and wish Stephen the very best."
"The Colbert Report" has earned two Peabody Awards and 27 Emmy nominations. In 2013, it scored the Emmy for outstanding variety series. The series took home Emmy wins for outstanding writing for a variety, music or comedy program in 2008, 2010 and 2013.

Before hosting his own show, Colbert rose to fame as a correspondent on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show."
He's also appeared on "The Dana Carvey Show," "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," has written for "Saturday Night Live" and voiced characters in the films "Mr. Peabody and Sherman" and "Monsters vs. Aliens."

The Northwestern University graduate was a member of Chicago's acclaimed Second City improv troupe with Amy Sedaris and Paul Dinello.
Letterman, 66, announced last Thursday that he will step down in 2015, but didn't reveal a specific date.
"I just want to reiterate my thanks for the support from the network, all of the people who have worked here, all of the people in the theater, all the people on the staff, everybody at home, thank you very much," he said at the taping," he said at the New York taping.
Since then, speculation has grown over who should fill his shoes. On Wednesday night, Jon Stewart threw his support behind his Comedy Central pal, saying that Colbert had the perfect skills for the job.
Letterman himself also released a statement congratulating Colbert: "Stephen has always been a real friend to me. I'm very excited for him, and I'm flattered that CBS chose him. I also happen to know they wanted another guy with glasses."

The "Late Show" airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET.

First Photo & Details On Kandi Burruss’ Wedding Revealed
After tying the knot last Friday, the first photo from Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker‘s wedding has surfaced, via In Touch.

The ceremony took place at Atlanta’s Le Fais Do-Do with 300 guests in attendance. Kandi walked down the aisle in a $20,000 custom Reco Chapple gown with a 12-foot train.
“The whole thing was like a fairy tale!” Kandi told In Touch. “I didn’t know if I was going to be able to pull this  to do it and hope for the best.”

Her bridesmaids included matron of honor Tamera Wynn, maid of honor Carmon Cambrice, Tiny, Fantasia Barrino, Love & Hip Hop Atlanta’s Rasheeda Frost, and RHOA’s Phaedra Parks and Joyce Dallas – the entire wedding party wore white.

Despite calling Todd an opportunist in the past, In Touch says that Kandi’s mother Joyce was on her best behavior at the ceremony and reception. She told the publication; “Time will tell if Todd gets my blessing, but if Kandi’s happy, then I need to be happy for her.”

Colin Kapernick Now Being Investigated For Sexual Assault
San Francisco 49ers Colin Kapernick who was once linked to vintage vagina Sanaa Lathan is now being investigated for possibly sexually assaulting someone.
According to TMZ:

We’re told the alleged incident took place at the Viceroy Hotel in Miami earlier this month.
Our sources tell us … the investigation is in its “beginning stages” and no charges have been filed against anyone at this point.
We reached out to both Colin’s agent and the San Francisco 49ers — so far, no comment from either one.
Kaepernick doesn’t appear to be fazed by the allegations — he was out partying at a Miami nightclub early Sunday morning with a smile on his face.
Colin was at the Viceroy as recently as April 5th — when he hung out with a wedding party near the pool at the hotel. People in the wedding party tell us Colin couldn’t have been nicer and “made the bride’s weekend.”

Tia Mowry Hardrict Gets FIT & FAB For Women’s Running Magazine
Tia Mowry Hardrict looks fabulously fit on the latest issue for Women’s Running magazine. Check out Tia’s spread, plus cute pics of her and Tamera’s kiddies inside…
With a second season of her Nick At Nite television sitcom “Instant Mom” on the way and gracing the cover of EBONY magazine with her twin sister Tamera, Tia Mowry Hardrict…to say the least…has been quite busy.

Cree’s mommy graces the May issue of Women’s Running magazine where she talks about feeling like a kid again once she adopted her high-energy diet. After a health scare, Tia decided to ditch the fried foods and started incorporating healthier foods to become the fit, fab and vegan mother we love.
The fab mother-of-one recently shared an “us”ie of herself and her son Cree along with her twin Tamera and her son Aden all showing off their natural curls captioning, “This is what happens when 4 people try to fit in a selfie!! This pic is titled, "curly-cues"! #naturalhair”
Adorbs!
And then the working mom took us back with a little nostalgia, sharing a pic after she enjoyed lunch with Marques Houston (who played ‘Roger’ on “Sister Sister”):

Had a great lunch with this man today! @marqueshouston1!! Good times! Xx
Were we the only ones screaming “GO HOME ROGER” after seeing this pic? Ha!
In the EBONY interview (check out our updated post), Tia talked about how after their sitcom “Sister Sister” ended, no one was really checking for them.  So they decided to take control of their future. Seems Tia has it all figured out now!

Big Sean & Naya Rivera Are Back On The Market; Engagement Called Off…
Something must be in the water or better yet alcohol. There have been many reports of called off engagements as of late. Well, Big Sean and Naya Rivera are officially off.

Big Sean’s reps have confirmed:
“After careful thought and much consideration, Sean has made the difficult decision to call the wedding off,” his rep said in a statement. “The recent rumors and accusations reported by so called or fake sources are simply untrue. Sean wishes Naya nothing but the best and it is still his hope that they can continue to work through their issues privately. We will not be commenting again on this matter.”
Star Magazine reported that Sean cheated on Rivera, but his rep denied the allegations. “Sean did not cheat on Naya and the allegations are 100% false and untrue,” the rep said.

The night before announcing their split, Sean attended a Dodgers game with Rivera’s brother, while a solo Rivera stepped out to the Marie Claire Fresh Faces party in West Hollywood. Rivera has also unfollowed Sean on Twitter.
Either before or after she unfollowed Sean, Rivera tweeted he stole a Rolex from her house.
Sean allegedly gave Rivera the watch he bought himself ‘when he first made it big’ to wear. He simply took it back after the split.

The couple got engaged last October after six months of dating.

New York Art Directors Contrast Rappers With Pre 16th-Century Art
It's a growing trend for rappers to be recreated as cartoon characters but for Cecilia Azcarate and Ferdinando Verderi, the two New York art directors decided to take things a bit further.
Their Tumblr page B4XVI (as in before the 16th century) aligns the gaudy likenesses of well-known rappers of the day and mirrors their images with drawings from the earlier Renaissance periods and ancient sculptures.
Via Hypebeast:
Comparing contemporary hip-hop stars with historic art from centuries past, New York-based art directors Cecilia Azcarate and Ferdinando Verderi continue to flood their Tumblr page B4XVI with humorous compositions. Describing their ongoing efforts as “highlighting an invisible conversation between hip-hop and art before the 16th century,” Kanye West is positioned alongside Renaissance paintings while Young Thug sits next to Inca-like sculptures. The two started the project after a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and realized the resemblance in dress sense throughout the centuries –from primordial gods to royalties and rap stars.
It takes a real level of genius and historic expertise to pull this off so big kudos to Azcarte and Ferdinando.

Syleena Johnson To Porsha Williams -- You STOLE My Song...And You Sounded Like Crap!
Last weeks episode of "Real Housewives of Atlanta," we heard Porsha attempting to record a song called "Perfectly Worthless."  And if you weren't feeling that voice of hers, just know that the producer of the track, Pierre Medor, and Syleena Johnson wasn't either.

In fact, he's claiming he wrote and produced the song in its entirety for Porsha on a trial basis...but decided to pass it to someone else because she did it NO justice.   And he's alleging that Porsha STOLE the song for television.

Pierre's says: In the business more than one artist will record the same song hoping for the right outcome, as was the case with Perfectly Worthless. Porsha Stewart wanted a song, Pierre Medor wrote and produced this song in its entirety. Not having any previous point of reference for Porsha, we initially recorded the song for the purpose of determining her vocal abilities and how they would fit with this particular song; it was quickly determined that this song wasn’t the best match for her, so we chose not to sell her the song and notified her management of our decision.

We're told the recent airing of 'Perfectly Worthless' indeed "came as a complete surprise" to the producer.  And Pierre has already started the appropriate legal procedures.  The rep continued with the not so subtle shade:
"Perfectly Worthless" is a great song and she loves it…we get that. But just like every body doesn’t look good in spandex, every voice doesn’t fit every song. It’s just unfortunate that Porsha has chosen to create another delusional marriage with this song by airing it and claiming to have taken part in its creation.

Well...
As for who Pierre sold the song to....none other than "R&B Divas" star Syleena Johnson.  And to throw even more dirt on the pile of shade, Pierre's rep said about Syleena's version, "This is what the song Perfectly Worthless should sound like!"

Bloop.  Check out Syleena's version of "Perfectly Worthless" below, which is scheduled to appear on her forthcoming album...

*UPDATE* Producer Pierre admits to appearing n this past Sunday's episode while Porsha rehearsed the song in the studio.  But we're told he agreed to Bravo's filming before he told Porsha she could not have the song.  But the footage was edited and aired anyway.
