Naomie Harris Talks Winnie Mandela In Red February 2014
Continuing to enjoy the success of her bio-pic “Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom,” Naomie Harris graced the cover of Red magazine’s February 2014 issue.
During her Q&A session with the publication, the 37-year-old actress opened up about playing Winnie Mandela in the film and her standing ovation at the Toronto Film Festival following the film’s presentation.

On becoming the peace leader’s wife:
“It was only when I did my research that I thought, ‘Oh my gosh, what the hell have I signed up to?’ She is the most complex woman I have ever played. To many, she is a saint, she’s Mother Africa, you know? To others, she is completely vilified. The pressure of all those expectation, especially filming in South Africa, was a lot. I definitely understand why she became the woman she did. In the same situation, I don’t know how I would react.”
On developing Winnie’s passion and anger:
“It meant inhabiting places I try never to go, like revenge, hatred and rage. I don’t hate anyone, and I’m really not a vengeful person, but I found it difficult to switch off. Even after I stopped filming, it took me awhile to shake her.”
On working with Idris:
“The first thing Idris said to me was, ‘Woah, what have we done? It’s terrifying, isn’t it? It really put me at ease. We held each other’s hand through the whole process.”
On her standing ovation:
“It was so overwhelming that I was embarrassed. I sat down, but Harvey Weinstein was in the seat behind me and he was like, ‘Stand up, Naomie!’”
Karrueche Tran Visits Chris Brown In Rehab
After finding out how stupid her Aaliyah joke was on New Year’s Eve Karrueche Tran decided to take a visit to the rehab to visit her man, Chris Brown. While visiting, the two locked tongues and decided to take a pic to share with the world…
Despite being in rehab, Chris Brown spent New Year’s Day with his lady love Karrueche Tran, who paid a visit to the controversial hip-hop crooner. The 25-year-old aspiring model tweeted out a photo of the couple as they frolicked in the grass outside of the clinic. Both she and the 24-year-old singer are wearing traditional New Year’s crowns as Tran sucks on Brown’s tongue.
Brown began living at the rehab center after the singer was arrested on October 27 in Washington, DC on a misdemeanor assault charge. Following the arrest, the singer faced jail time for violating his parole stemming from his 2009 assault on ex-girlfriend Rihanna.

Alicia Keys Out As Global Creative Director Of BlackBerry
BlackBerry just took another L, sort of. After naming singer Alicia Keys its Global Creative Director on January 30, 2013, she will be leaving the position a year to the day.
The CBC News service broke the news with a tweet, which reads: "Singer Alicia Keys will no longer be #BlackBerry global creative director as of Jan. 30, according to company."
Reports CTV News:
BlackBerry has insisted that Keys had a more direct involvement in its operations, highlighting her work on a four-year scholarship program that encouraged young women to enter specific science and technology fields.
The company brought Keys onto the team last January at the splashy New York launch of its BlackBerry 10 smartphone line, which was supposed to mark a new beginning for the well-known brand.
She appeared at numerous corporate events throughout the year and in some promotional material.
"We have enjoyed the opportunity to work with such an incredibly talented and passionate individual," the company said in an emailed statement.
Of course the next question asked is did Keys quit or was she fired? The spin will probably be that her contract was up. But take that as you will.
Also, besides appearing in a commercial or two, what exactly did she do during her tenure?
Considering the "Girl On Fire" singer and her hubby Swizz Beatz's thriving musical careers, she'll be alright.

Chelsea Handler Posts Photos Of Her Holding Black Baby Dolls; “I Finally Had Twins”
We all know that late night talk show host Chelsea Handler is two things… Controversial and a lover of black men specifically, 50 Cent. Chelsea recently had an accident while skiing and she posted a pic of it on Twitter. The comedian is smiling while comfortably lying across a bed, and she appears to have pulled up her white terry cloth robe to her waist in order to intentionally reveal the side of her bare bottom. Handler, 38, has never been one to shy away from a funny moment, so her tweet Sunday was no different. What’s even more hilarious about the photograph is that there’s an unidentified man who appears to be wearing some sort of service jacket kneeling beside the bed.
The snapshot shows Handler’s cast covering from foot to knee, but that may not be the main attraction of the photo.
“Another day of skiing and whoopsie,” she tweeted to her more than 5 million followers. “I come home now.”

Reed Between the Lines is Never Coming Back
After Tracee Ellis Ross quit BET's Reed Between the Lines to film a pilot [that didn't get picked up] she was replaced by Tony Rock for the popular show's second season.
Too bad the season is never going to air...
In an interview with Access Atlanta Tracce's co-star Malcolm Jamal Warner explains what happened,
"There's really not much to say about Reed Between The Lines. BET decided not the air the second season, even though it was shot. As a result, there's really nothing to say about the show."
"None of us were happy to hear [the cancellation.] They had their reasons, a lot of which I don't understand.... I thought it was a great execution of dealing with a guy who thought he had a perfect family and marriage only to find out there were issues along the way."

After nearly 20 years, Prada is finally incorporating a little color into the Italian fashion house
Last fall, Malaika Firth shocked us as the first black face to represent Prada in their fall 2013 campaign.
Now, Prada follows up for Spring 2014 with an ad that features yet another woman of color, Cindy Bruna.
While we appreciate Prada taking strides to become more culturally conscious, they sure did pick the lightest black women they could find to represent their campaigns. To the progress they are making socially, we salute.
Marvel & Disney Unveil First Look At Guardians Of The Galaxy [PHOTOS]
Marvel and Disney biggest film of 2014 may be Guardians Of The Galaxy. A photos of the cast in character has been unveiled and although it's only one pic,things are already looking promising.
For those who may not be familar, the Guardians are Star Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora aka "the most dangerous woman in the universe" (Zoe Saldana), Rocket Racoon, (Bradley Cooper), Groot (Vin Diesel) and Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista). Most interesting is that this team consists of three humanoids, a talking raccoon that packs big time artillery and a tree like creature. Trust, in the comic books it just works.

Oh WOW: Cost Of Postage Stamps Will Increase
My oh my, what’s happening with our tax dollars?? It’s been confirmed by the USPS that the price of a postage stamp is set to increase to 49 cents. The recent news has caused a public uproar.
We’re hearing that The US Postal Service has been facing various fiscal pressures due to which it was forced to increase its postage price to 49 cents.
The cost price of a first class stamp has risen over the times to reach the astronomical rate of 49 cents. This will go into effect from January 26th. However, it is not a permanent decision which comes as somewhat of a relief. Postcards and packages will naturally cost more to send over long distances in future times.
The USPS was hit hard by the recession of 2008 and 2009. Then there is the fact that it is largely obsolete in the current times of Internet and Email. Its retirement plan is going to take some time though. Those who use the USPS’s snail mail service will be grouchier than before due to this landmark decision.
