Steve & Marjorie Harvey Cover ESSENCE Mag's February 2014 Issue, Dishes "Long Lasting Love" Advice (Of Course)
Just in time for Valentine's Day, Steve and Marjorie Harvey opened up to ESSENCE about their marriage and creating a love that lasts.  More inside.....

The February 2014 cover of ESSENCE Magazine features successful host (The Steve Harvey Morning Show; Family Feud; The Steve Harvey Show) and author Steve Harvey and his wife of seven years Marjorie Harvey.

While we've followed Steve and his romantic journey (which includes two ex-wives and a prolonged court battle with ex-Mary Harvey), it seems like THIS  time...it's going to last.   Because the twosome seem to have all kinds of knowledge on how they'll make it happen.
Inside the issue, the couple dish on creating a love that lasts and Steve opens up about changing his life since meeting Marjorie.  He said,  "Everything I have...is because of this girl right here."

Inside, they share highlights from their love story:
On meeting at a Memphis comedy club:
Steve said he stood on stage and said, "I don't know who you are but I'm going to marry you." Marjorie's said, "I knew he was The One shortly after I started dated him...but then he just left. Disappeared."

Steve on working on himself BEFORE committing to Marjorie:
"Before a man can be of use to a woman...he's got to know who he is, what he does and how much he's going to make."

Steve on how EVERY great man has a woman:
"Every great man has a woman... I didn't say successful man, I said great man. Yeah, maybe you're successful if you sign a $16 million NBA contract. But greatness is when you're the husband and father you're supposed to be. When everyone surrounding you looks up to you, depends on you, and you come through for them. That's greatness.

Do you think Dr. Martin Luther King was anything without Coretta? You take Michelle out of Barack Obama's equation, and he is a whole other dude out there."

The February 2014 issue of ESSENCE is on newsstands now.

Sarah Jessica Parker thinks ‘there is one last chapter to tell’ for ‘Sex & the City’
Sarah Jessica Parker covers the February issue of InStyle Mag. Isn’t this a horrible cover? I was watching some old episodes of Sex & the City over the holidays, remembering how SJP really was one of the “It Girls” of the late 90s and early aughts. She was very striking and sexy in the SATC TV show. In the movies, something had changed. It seemed like SJP was still being styled as a girlish 30-something, when I wanted to see her switch it up and show some personal growth. Which brings me to a larger point: does SATC still speak to you? Or did it belong to a certain time and place and there’s no going back (or for that matter, forward)? Do Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha only exist in a certain SATC dimension from a decade ago?
These are the questions I asked myself when I chanced upon some quotes from SJP’s InStyle interview. She was asked about the possibility of a THIRD Sex and the City movie, which happens every time SJP is interviewed. We’re not the only ones who can’t move on, and to her credit, SJP almost always takes the question and properly reflects on it. She’s even said (in a general way) that she would be open to a third film if everyone else is too. But in this InStyle interview, she makes it sound like the third film is probably going to happen. NOOOOOOO.

On a third SATC film: “A part of me thinks there is one last chapter to tell. But timing is a peculiar thing. It isn’t a decision that can wait forever. I don’t want to have to wear muumuus!”

On age appropriate fashion: “People should dress the way they want. Any rules for age or shape are silly. If you walk out the door feeling good about yourself, that’s what counts.”

On her words to live by: “The Golden Rule – do unto others as you would have them do unto you – that’s my religion, my dogma. As soon as my son could recite it back, I’d repeat it to him.”

On her success: “The real success happened after I was grown, and that saved me. I was appreciative of all of it, and continue to be – my gosh. I don’t think my success has ever defined me; it’s just this thing that I carry around and then shepherd in a hopefully graceful way, you know?”

[From InStyle via JustJared]
Apparently, Kristin Davis is up for a third film too – she recently told Haute Living that “there is discussion” amongst the “players” of SATC. But! Cynthia Nixon recently said that “it’s fine to let it go” regarding the SATC franchise. And I suspect Kim Cattrall has moved well past it, don’t you? At this point, I would say that Nixon and Cattrall will flat-out refuse, but Kim might come on if there’s a huge paycheck. Cynthia won’t though. She doesn’t give a s—t. Good for her.

Daddy Blogger Attacked By Racists After Posting Photo Of Daughters
A Black father of interracial daughters came under attack by online racists after a photo of him doting on his children went viral. Doyin Richards, a Daddy Blogger at Daddy Doin' Work, has since responded to the faceless critics in a far more classy fashion that the barrage of insults he and his family faced.
Richards, a 39-year-old father who took off a month to bond with his newborn daughter, posted a photo of him doing his 3-year-old daughter's hair to his blog with his new born in tow.
In what should have remained a precious moment between a father and his children turned ugly when the photo exploded on social media with folks questioning Richards' integrity, his devotion to his children, and even if the girls were his own. Just to note, Richards' wife, Mariko, is half-white, half-Japanese. And according to Richards, other Black men had negative comments to add as well.

A report from NewsOne repeated some of the worst responses that Richards upped himself.
From NewsOne:
“He probably rented those kids. They don't even look like him.”
“I would bet anything that you're a deadbeat.”
“OK buddy, cute picture. Now why don't you hand the children back to their mom so you can go back to selling drugs or your bootleg rap CDs?”
“So do you do this for all of your illegitimate kids?”
Instead of blacking out on the detractors, Richards took the high road and responded with grace despite the venom he faced.
“Memo to the small pocket of male haters I have: Why don't you put big boy shorts on and get in on the revolution of good fathers? It's not a good look to tear down dads for doing the work your wives wished you were man enough to do on your own,” wrote Richards on his blog.
Richards continued, “If you don't believe me, just ask your spouses. They'll tell you. But don't worry. I'll still be here whenever you're ready to step your game up and join #TeamGrownAssMan.”
Doyin Richards pretty much won the Internets with that response, didn't he?
Hit the jump to see the photo in question that sparked all of this attention.

Is This The New Cast Of "Love & Hip Hop: LA"? We Hear It's NOT True....
The cast of "LAHH LA" is gearing up to start filming.  And even though a list of "confirmed" stars is now circulating, we're told it's NOT true....

Back in October, we broke the news that Mona Scott Young was expanding the "LAHH" brand into other cities and Los Angeles was the next destination.  Now, after months of specualtion, we have a hint at who some of the new castmembers COULD be.
Producers supposedly told TMZ that the cast will include singer Brooke Valentine, radio DJ Yesi Ortiz, rapper Hazel-E, and video vixen Bria Myles. Of course, there needs to be a huge hip hop star.....because they haven't found one yet.  Sadly....Ray J was unavailable.
We reached out to Mona Scott Yong to confirm the cast and she (naturally) told us that it's all wrong.  And no final decisions have been made.  She said told TheYBF.com:

"I am looking at LA, but as usual, they've got it all wrong. No final decisions on cast. And most definitely haven't started shooting a thing.
Thanks!"

So there you have it.  And just in case you're still wondering who these folks are anyway:
Brooke Valentine

Bria Myles

Yesi Ortiz

Hazel-E
Only time will tell...

Beyonce refuses to be Kim Kardashian’s bridesmaid, Bey ‘doesn’t take her calls’
Do you believe the theory that Beyonce hates Kim Kardashian and thinks Kim is “beneath” her? Or do you believe the theory that Beyonce likes Kim just fine, and that Bey is happy that her friend Kanye has found someone who makes him happy? I think the answer is probably somewhere in-between. Beyonce knows that she’s at the top of the celebrity heap and that she merely deigns to acknowledge Kim, but I’d also bet that Beyonce doesn’t mind spending time with Kim here and there, especially in Kanye’s company. As for how Kim sees her relationship with Beyonce… well, Kim is her mother’s favorite. That should tell you a lot about how Kim operates: always hustling, always pimping, always looking to uptrade her way into more elite company. Kim wants to be BFFs with Bey. And Kim barely enters Beyonce’s mind.

So, with those dynamics at play, would you believe this Star story? Allegedly, Kim wants Beyonce to be one of her bridesmaids for her summer wedding to Kanye! Hahahaha.

Beyonce is saying “I don’t” to Kim Kardashian’s invite to be a bridesmaid, leaving Kim humiliated. “Kim has been boasting to pals that Bey wants to be a bridesmaid, but Beyonce turned her down flat,” snipes a source, revealing that while Beyonce plays nice with Kim, she finds her family unbearable.

“Beyonce doesn’t want anything to do with the Kardashian clan. From sex tapes to crack addicts, they’re too controversial.”
And just because their men, Jay-Z and Kanye West, are best buddies, that doesn’t mean Beyonce will ever be BFFs with Kim.
“Beyonce doesn’t even take Kim’s calls, so she was shocked when she got a voicemail begging her to be a bridesmaid. This is a woman who doesn’t care how close a friend you are, all she cares about are big names.”
[From Star Magazine, print edition]

This is less about how Beyonce feels about Kim and more about how Beyonce feels about herself. Beyonce is nobody’s bridesmaid! Beyonce is a QUEEN. She is the bride, never the bridesmaid. Maybe the maid of honor, but only for, like, Kelly Rowland or Solange. NEVER A BRIDESMAID. Which, when you think about it, is a pretty good rule for any woman. So, yes, I think Beyonce and Jay-Z will probably attend Kanye and Kim’s wedding (if it actually happens and Kanye doesn’t run off with Riccardo!), but only as guests. They won’t be tacky wedding party people.

Barclays Center Adds A $40 Haircut Barbershop To Its Fold [PHOTOS]
Like Carmelo Anthony's boys in orange and blue, the Brooklyn Nets are reshaping the game of basketball to new heights of struggle in the New York state.
The former New Jersey ball club took their talents to the $4.9 billion arena and it hasn't exactly paid off for them solely, as they sit at dismal 14-21 record.
However, the glitzy spectacle in downtown Brooklyn knew it would take more than an above-average NBA team to bring in the revenue. Their New York Islanders are set to represent the NHL under its roof in 2015 and any artist worth their measure in platinum has to perform there.
They also have little side additions to make the visit that much more enticing. Their latest?
A high-end barbershop.
NYDailyNews is reporting that GQ magazine has partnered up with Fellow Barber to allow men get suave for whatever the event may be. It's a small but stylish two-chair additon to the Barclays Center.
Today, January 10 marks its opening day and before facing off against the defending champions Miami Heat, Nets star guard Deron Williams will sit in the chair for a cut as will boxer Victor Ortiz, who faces off in the arena on January 30 against Luis Collazo.
The prices range from $40 (haircut) $25 (fade) and $75 (shave and cut) so if your saving your greenbacks for the Barclays bar, you may want to hit your regular spot before arrival.
Still looks like a cool place to visit.

Terrell Owens Is Getting MARRIED!
Finally, T.O is getting hitched. But, wait a minute, now… it’s NOT with any of his kids mothers. It’s a chick he’s been dating named Rachel Snider. Whom, we’re hearing is a postal worker from Texas. We’re also hearing from her very own Instagram and Twitter that she doesn’t like the spotlight, She loves Terrell Owens, she into fitness, she wants to ‘switch it up’ and take care of her man, she loves TO (lol)–, she is a kind and loving person, AND she loves TO!!! Hehehehe — TMZ has learned that Terrell has gotten a marriage license that expires on April 8, 2014. So, this means that a wedding is super close.
Well, I also got a glimpse of a ring that Rachel was rocking on her Twitter page and it was blinging!Peep the pics…
Thoughts?

JUST MARRIED! Bobbi Kristina & Nick Gordon...
Well...she went and did it.  Bobbi Kristina Brown is now officially married to her non-brother Nick Gordon.  For over a year now, we've seen 20-year-old Bobbi Kristina and Nick Gordon slowly but surely professing their love for each other.  They seemed to find solace in each other once Whitney Houston--Bobbi Kris' mother and Nick's guardian--passed away.  And the Houston family didn't seem to be a fan of their newfound relationship.
During the Lifetime reality show "The Houstons, we saw BK's Aunt Pat and the rest of the family expressing their issues with the relationship.  And grandma Cissy told friends and even wrote Bobbi K. an open letter about not being pleased with the twosome's behavior.

But y'all know you can't stop young love.   And tonight, B.K. announced she and Nick are happily married.  And she even posted pics of their new wedding bands, and her new name--Bobbi Kristina Houston Gordon:

She said:
It also looks like they have some projects of their own on deck.   She said right afterwards:
#ClassicHollywood #RoyalByBirth This. Is. Me BAM! @nickdgordon iloveubaby bouts change the world,#GETREADY!
Hmmm.
We have a feeling most in the Houston family won't be feeling any of this.  But hopefully, for Bobbi Kris' sake, this all works out like the fairytale she wants it to be.

AND FINALLY FROM “THE CRAZY PEOPLE SHOPPING AT WALMART” FILES
‘FAILED FASHION’
Fashion, like art, is subjective. At least that is the bullshit excuse I hear. So subjectively, which do you prefer, the huntsmen or the walking memorial?

HAVE A GREAT DAY!
