Afeni Shakur Sues for $1.1 Million in Tupac’s Rap Royalties and Masters
These days Momma Dee is not the only mother protecting her son. The late/great Tupac Shakur’s mother Afeni Shakur has filed suit for royalties that she feel are deserving of his estate. Calculations erupted from Tupac’s 2007 released album “Beginnings:The Lost Tape”. Referencing this claim, a company titled Entertainment One (E1) bought the rights to Tupac’s music that were previously owned by Death Row records. Now here is where we insert Oprah’s ‘Ah Ha’ moment.

Death Row went bankrupted in 2006. Afeni is now DEMANDING E1 to cough up $1.1 million and to immediately release the mastered recordings of ALL Tupac’s unreleased goods. Tupac is not the first celebrity whose work post death is still making money for others. Old Dirty Bastard’s family is currently seeking the masters and rights to his music from Damon Dash. As you can see death don’t stop revenue. Families have to advocate for their rights or they won’t get that money.
As it relates to Afeni Shakur’s lawsuit we see that death don’t stop a mother from loving and protecting her child. Afeni Shakur is advocating for her deceased son and plans on getting his masters back in the proper hands of their family. Wishing Afeni Shakur much success on recovering that money and her son’s masters.
What do you think?

Ralph Lauren Brings Back The Polo Bear Sweater [PHOTOS]
The iconic Polo Bear sweater is back. We first heard that Polo Ralph Lauren would be dropping new versions of their cherished knit sweaters back in November 2012. Closer to a year later than most would have hoped for, you will be able to cop a new "Bring It Back" Polo Bear sweater

Reports GQ:
When Ralph Lauren announced its "Bring It Back" program as part of its Ralph Lauren Vintage launch last year, the label allowed fans to vote on which Polo Bear mascots would adorn a limited-edition sweater. The Polo Bear was a collectible Steiff teddy bear decked out in a Ralph Lauren rig, given to the designer as a birthday present during the company's early years.
Lauren thought the bear was so cool that he made them available to customers. Eventually, he got the idea to put it on sweaters, and in 1991 the Polo Bear sweater debuted in the line. Since then, they've become one of the company's most popular (albeit unofficial) mascots.
Longtime 'Lo heads may feel a ways since this could ruin the costs of their pieces from the 80's & 90's. But hey, what's wrong with cats getting access to gear that might fall apart if they turn around too fast?
Word is pieces that snuck on racks early have already been snatched up. That said, good hunting. Oh yeah, each sweater is $295 at RLVintage.com.

Nicki Minaj Is Working On Her Third Album
E! News recently caught up with the Young Money star for a chat. During the interview, she revealed that her third album is currently in the works; “That’s the most important thing in my life right now,” she said — and she also dished on her role in the upcoming Nick Cassavetes-directed comedy The Other Woman.

When asked if she misses American Idol, she stated that her music is her main focus right now:
Nooo! It was such a great experience. I would not trade it for the world. But my heart is in my music and I had to step back and go have different experiences so that I could write my third album…That’s the most important thing in my life right now.
On if she’d recorded any music with Miley Cyrus after being spotted in the studio together:
I didn’t make any music with Miley. There was a song that was a possibility but it didn’t work out.
On working with Cameron Diaz in her big-screen acting debut:
When I got on set the first day, I was so nervous… Cameron Diaz walks in the room and I’m like, ‘Kill me. Is this really happening?’ She lights up the room and all I could think of is what if I do something and she things that I suck, what is going to say? Is she going to demand that I be kicked off the movie? I was just thinking crazy stuff.
She came up me in the middle of the day and was like, ‘You’re doing such a great job,’ That melted me…And that pushed me. She was like, ‘You’re making really great choices.’

Drake Talks Nothing Was The Same Album: “I’m Emotional”
He’s riding high on the early success of his just-released record Nothing Was The Same, and Drake feels confident it’s his best opus yet.

The “Pop That” rapper describes the new project as “an album that you have to listen to front to back and then go over and listen to it again.”
As for the range of material he covers on the various tracks, Drake notes, "I'm just being me, and part of being me is being in touch with emotion. That's all I write about. If I didn't write about my emotions, I don't know what else I would write about. I'd make songs about generic things that nobody could relate to and I probably wouldn't be in this position that I'm in right now.”
"I'm emotional, yeah, I guess. Let that be the worst thing in my life, please, not something like drug charges and God knows what else. I don't get myself in trouble, so if the negative feedback that I do get is the worst thing that's going to happen to me, then so be it.”

Drake also mentions that his mom inspired some of his lyrics- “My mother is an incredible woman. I talk about her a lot on this album. She's brought me to this point single-handedly. She's the most important person in my life."

Retrial Ordered For Jailed Black Woman In Florida "Stand Your Ground" Case
Marissa Alexander, a jailed Florida woman who argued the state's “Stand Your Ground” law as defense after firing a shot at her abusive husband, will now receive a new trial. An appeals court judge has decided to grant Alexander a new trial based on findings that the jury instructions on what stands as self-defense may have been incorrectly given.
MSNBC reported on the appeals court retrial ruling Thursday (Sept. 26), citing the actual court opinion from Judge James H. Daniel. Alexander's case has gained much traction after the acquittal of George Zimmerman for the killing of Trayvon Martin in July.

From MSNBC:
Marissa Alexander, the African-American woman who was sentenced to 20 years for discharging a firearm in Florida despite pleading Stand Your Ground against her husband, will get a new trial. Alexander, 32, said she fired a bullet at the ceiling because she was afraid of her husband. No one was injured. It took 12 minutes for the jury to convict her.
The appeals court judge ruled that the lower court judge improperly put a burden on Alexander to prove that the firing was in self-defense. “The defendant's burden is only to raise a reasonable doubt concerning self-defense,” Daniel wrote. “The defendant does not have the burden to prove the victim guilty of the aggression defended against beyond a reasonable doubt.” He ordered a retrial. A separate proceeding would determine whether Alexander could be released on bail pending that trial.
Before the fateful August 2010 night that landed her in jail, Alexander's husband, Rico Gray had been previously arrested for domestic violence against his wife. After delivering Gray's child just nine days prior, Alexander claims Gray attacked her once more after discovering text messages between she and her ex-husband.
Alexander said she tried to flee the scene and was blocked by her husband, who then charged at her after he allegedly threatened to kill her. Firing a warning shot into the wall while reportedly never aiming the gun at Gray and owning a legal gun permit, Alexander was still hit with a mandatory 20-year sentence in early 2012. In an odd twist of fate, the prosecutor in that case was Angela Corey, who also held the same role in the Zimmerman trial.
Alexander may be released on bail in a separate hearing ahead of the retrial.

Rock The Bells Cancels NYC & Washington D.C. Shows After Poor Ticket Sales
Sad news for east coast Hip-Hop fans looking to get their annual festival fix at Rock The Bells. According to XXL and Ticketmaster's web site, both the New York City and Washington D.C. shows have been canceled because of poor ticket sales.
Yes, you read that right. Initially thought to be a rumor, the Washington Post and Washington City Paper also confirmed sources saying the events were no more.
In it's 10th anniversary year, the California market proved to be more viable than the northeast. Los Angeles and San Francisco shows occurred unhitched earlier in the summer, and were the locales for a pair of hologram performances by ODB and Eazy-E.
The line up donned acts like Wu-Tang Clan, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, J. Cole, KiD CuDi, Pusha T, Black Hippy, and more.
XXL says Rock The Bells will take a three million dollar loss. All fans will be reimbursed.

Karrueche Tran Covers Bombshell By Bleu Magazine
Kae talks about modeling business and her personal style. She also admits to having an alter ego and shares how men try to get her attention.

On how she became a model:
“The opportunity came around and I was completely down for it. I’ve always been approached about modeling but never completely got into it. Now that I’ve been doing it more, I absolutely love it! People tend to think that there is only one form of modeling (high fashion) but there are so many directions. It’s amazing.”
On her personal style:
“I try to stick to blacks, whites, greys and neutrals, but lately I’ve been experimenting with a lot of colors.”

On how men approach her:
“I was at a party and a basketball player, really tall, starts singing Ciara’s ‘Body Party’ in my ear. It was hilarious. Just the idea of this big dude past 6 feet bending down singing that song in my ear made me laugh. It was cute.”
On her alter ego:
“Sarrueche. She’s a little more fierce and daring. You need to be confident to feel sexy. Being sexy for me is versatile.”
Well let me know what you think about Kae’s cover?
