I used to read the bad things people said about me. Then I asked myself, ‘Why am I reading that when I have millions of people saying great things?’ You cannot give negativity power. I tell teens, if you’re having a problem, there’s nothing wrong with deleting your social media. If people keep taunting you and you keep reading it, it’s poison. My journey to who I am today began on MySpace. I love getting real opinions from people.
She credits frequently changing schools as a youngster, as helping her prepare for her career:
Every time my parents fought, my mother would have us move and I would have to go to a new school, which meant I’d have to face the task of making new friends. I dreaded it. I had butterflies in my stomach each time: Are people going to like or hate me? … Sometimes there’d be a fight, sometimes not. I let people know I wasn’t going to be pushed around. She also adds:
People treat this business like it’s high school. It can absolutely feel like one big popularity contest, and you know what? I can’t be bothered. I can’t allow myself to play ridiculous games with grown adults in the industry. I can’t be nice to someone just because they’re hot right now. I can’t do it.

Comedian Monique Clarifies She Wanted An Open Marriage: ‘That Had Nothing To Do With My Husband’
Comedian turned actress, Monique, is shrinking y’all. This week, she stopped by Hot 97, dishing about her weight loss, clarifying what she meant by having an ‘open relationship’ with her husband of seven years, along with how she feels about her late night talk show on BET.

On why she admires Charles Ramsey:
Because I admire that brother and I really appreciate what he did. And you know you hear the jokes and I understand..No, he don’t have no teeth. It’s a lot goin’ on, but Charles when we come to Cleveland, you have tickets to the show. I admire that brother. That took a lot of courage. Because normally we mind our business, normally folks don’t get involved. And he was so honest, baby. That brother saved lives.
On her weight lost:
I tweet every morning my workouts because I wanted women to see, (especially us big women) you don’t have to let them cut and suck it out. You don’t hafta let them staple you up, you don’t hafta let them give you a pill. If you just put the work in baby, I promise you, it comes off. Now, I’m three years in….The weight right now….two weeks ago it was 218. My goal is between 190 and 200. When I watch ‘The Parkers’ and I watch the reruns, I know I was tipping about, close to 300. I am thee best Monique I’ve ever been in my life. I feel amazing.
The last time she was at her current weight:
Never. Never. In my mind, things never got sideways until someone brought it to my attention, which is my husband. When I had to step back and look at the damage I was doing to myself, made me say ‘Sis, you got these babies’.
On what food she enjoyed eating, pre-diet:
Buffalo wings, Doritios dipped in blue cheese at the same damn time. You were eating whatever you wanted. There were junkies in my family and there still are junkies in my family. And I use to judge them. I was a food junkie.
Why her show on BET ended:
Let me say this about the experience, it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. We wanted folk to go to bed and feel good. Those two years were amazing. I wish I could give you the answer. I honestly don’t know what happened with the Monique Show. You should maybe ask Ms. Debra Lee because I don’t wanna assume. I can’t give you an swer to that. But what I will say to the people, we thank you. It was a show for our community, baby. It was so diverse; it was for everybody.
If she’d consider doing another talk show:
I had a great time doing it and who knows what the universe is doing.
What she meant years ago, when she said that she and her husband had an open relationship:
Let me define this really quick. See, that happened nothing to do with my husband. When I did that interview, I didn’t realize the king that I had. I was just being old Monique. Listen, the road is what it is. It goes for men and women. I felt like well this is just how it is. People automatically went to my husband. It had nothing to do with that. It actually backfired. I thought I was saying to women you can enjoy your cake and eat it too. It backfired. Now that I understand what I have, baby listen, there’s not another man on the face of this earth that can compare to mine. In my humble opinion. That’s just for me. When you really take the energy and pay attention to your relationship….and love him in a way that your mama didn’t teach you how to love a man, don’t neither one of y’all wanna go nowhere. Treat ‘em like a King if you wanna be treated like a Queen–it works.
Further defining what an ‘open relationship’ means to her:
We are open and we’re open because we’re honest. When I said an open relationship people automatically thought sex,sex,sex. An open relationship means to us, there are no secrets.There’s nothing that my husband doesn’t know about me and there nothing I don’t know about him. Some people are laying with strangers. When it’s open, y’all so honest. Sisters if you got a good one baby honor him. It’s nothing wrong with being submissive. It’s nothing wrong with loving him, all of it. We treat each other good right now in life, the best we can and then that way when you’re loving good, everything around you is good.

TMZ reports that the IRS has filed liens for the years of 2010 ($485,575.95) and 2011 ($728,004.89) which totals a sum of $1,213,580.84.

REVEALED: Fox spent a staggering $40 million on American Idol judges including $18 Million for Mariah Carey - only to see ratings flop
Fox chief Kevin Reilly today defended ailing American Idol - as it can be revealed the network spent a staggering $40 million on their judging panel only to see ratings flop.
The network paid $18 million to Mariah Carey, $12 million to her rival Nikki Minaj, $6 million to country crooner Keith Urban and $4 million to long-running judge Randy Jackson.
Randy quit the show last week and none of the remaining trio are set to return next year.
And speaking ahead of the TV upfronts - the annual advertisers event - in New York today, the Fox entertainment chairman said the show would 'likely' go back to having three judges, saying 'everything is on the table.'
Mr Reilly said: 'It's confirmed that one judge is not coming back.'
Insiders say it's highly unlikely Mariah, Nicki and Keith will return - leaving Fox to find a new panel, even though Mr Reilly insisting they would be welcome back.
Mr Reilly also said the show would likely go back to three judges, the number it had when the show began with Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson.
As it heads to its finale this week, Idol was beaten by CBS on Thursday night, which snagged the win with a 2.7 rating in the adults 18-49 category and 12.094 million viewers. FOX came in second with a 2.4 rating and 8.641 million viewers for the Idol ratings show.
Randy Jackson confirmed his departure to E! News on Thursday, stating:'Yo! Yo! Yo! To put all of the speculation to the rest, after 12 years of judging on American Idol I have decided it is time to leave after this season,' he said.
'I am very proud of how we forever changed television and the music industry,' said Jackson. 'It's been a life changing opportunity but I am looking forward to focusing on my company Dream Merchant 21 and other business ventures.'
Idol has seen a steady rotation of judges in recent years, but Jackson is the only original judge to have stayed the course with the series.
'There's always been chaos with American Idol, but this year it's been more than ever,' a source told E!.
When Minaj was asked by Ryan Seacrest on Thursday whether the rumours were true, the rapper answered somewhat cryptically.
'That's a million-dollar question… I have to say this all the time, but I want people to know it's genuinely from my heart. I love the people on Idol. I genuinely do,' she told the radio presenter and Idol presenter.
'If I had to do this all over again, I would have done Idol. Because it's fun, it's laughs. It's kind of sad that what people read all the time is only when something is negative. But they don't realise that we built a family, she added.
She then expressed her gratitude to the producers for putting her on the show.
'I feel happy here and I have to thank them for giving me this chance. They could have picked anyone in the world. And they picked me. So that's all I'll say about that,' she said.

Despite recent reports, Fox also isn't thinking of bringing former judge Jennifer Lopez back onboard to save the flailing show.
Longtime producer Nigel Lythgoe, who has been with the show from the beginning, is also expected to be replaced.
The 10-year-old Fox show has seen its popularity wane in recent years.
The Fox singing show peaked in 2006's season five when Taylor Hicks was named American Idol and the season finale drew a whopping 36.4 million viewers.

Other contestants that season included Katharine McPhee, Kellie Pickler and Chris Daughtry. It remains the most productive season in terms of generating recording artists.
American Idol recently has been struggling against other competition shows and this season may relinquish its crown as the most popular show of its genre.
Two same-week editions of NBC's The Voice and ABC's Dancing With The Stars last month drew larger audiences than Idol.
The show enjoyed its most success with its original panel of three judges that included the acerbic Simon Cowell, pop singer Paula Abdul and music manager Randy Jackson.

After Sunday night’s game, Matt autographed a ball, and gave it to a terminally ill teen, Joshua Jones. But it didn’t stop there. Matt proceeded to give the young boy his hat, his jersey, and finally, Matt reached down, and took off his cleats, and gave them to the 19-year-old.
Joshua and his father sat front row at AT&T Park for a father/ son outing. Joshua is suffering from inoperable tumors in his spine and has been given 90 days to live. During the game, the boy’s father told the Dodger’s third base coach, Tim Wallach, about his son’s illness, later Tim told Matt about the young boy.

Barbara Walters Make it Official
By now you all know ABC announced that Barbara Walters would officially announce her 2014 retirement on ‘The View’ Monday.
She tweeted this teaser that was linked to an ABC banner headline:
Walters led Monday’s show with a video detailing her long and illustrious career. While wiping away tears, she declared her intention to leave television a year from now after 50 years on the air.
Until next summer Walters, 83, will continue to anchor and report for the network, appear in specials, and continue in her role as executive producer and panelist on ‘The View.’
She said, “I am very happy with my decision and look forward to a wonderful and special year ahead.”
Regarding her future plans, she stated emphatically, “I do not want to appear on another program or climb another mountain. I want instead to sit on a sunny field and admire the very gifted women — and, OK, some men, too — who will be taking my place.”
ABC News President Ben Sherwood said, “There is only one Barbara Walters. We look forward to making her final year on television remarkable, path-breaking and news-making as Barbara herself. We look forward to a year befitting her brilliant career, filled with exclusive interviews, great adventures and indelible memories.”
She ended her announcement by saying, “My cup runneth over. I thank you, I thank you, I thank you.”
A network executive who was seated in the audience for the big announcement, suggested that she might want to consider a stint on ABC’s ‘Dancing with the Stars.’ Bring it on Barbara!

Cee Lo Green Reality Series Picked Up By TBS
Fans of Cee Lo Green and his Goodie Mob will be able to follow the group’s reunion in an upcoming reality series. According to the “Hollywood Reporter,” “The Cee Lo Life” has been picked up by TBS and is slated to hit television screens in 2014. The six-episode series will take fans inside the studio with the former coach on NBC’s “The Voice” as he gears up to reunite with the three other members of the Goodie Mob.
The president and head of programming for TBS, TNT and Turner Classic Movies — Michael Wright — says “The Cee Lo Life” is sure to be a “smart, fun and funny journey” that’s “packed” with great music. He adds that the series will give viewers a chance to “get to know” Cee Lo.
Later this year the Goodie Mob is planning to release their first album since 2004′s “One Monkey Don’t Stop No Show.” The new album titled “Age Against the Machine” is set to hit stores on June 18th.

For the first time ever, all tiers of the world-renowned Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater were under one roof for a star-studded event.
The Apollo Theater hosted performances by the young dancers of The Ailey School, the rising stars of Ailey II and the talented students from AileyCamp Washington Heights and Newark.
The gala was held not only to honor Ailey Board of Trustees member Robert Kissane, but to raise money for student scholarships. This year’s benefit earned a record breaking $1 million dollars for students who wish to attend The Ailey School and the organization’s Arts In Education & Community Programs, including AileyCamp.

Chris Brown’s Neighbors Are PISSST About Graffiti On Singer’s Hollywood Hills Residence
Singer Chris Brown can’t catch a break. I’m hearing via recent poll that Brown and teen Pop Star, Justin Bieber are trending on the “most hated celebs list.” This story here doesn’t add anything better to that trend because, neighbors in Chris’ Hollywood Hills town are pissy that he decided to have graffiti drawn on the outside of his home. Residents are reporting the art as grimacing and frightening to their children.
We are hearing that a neighborhood group said the grimacing, sharp-toothed, red-eyed goblins painted along a retaining wall have been scaring children, and is an eyesore to boot, according to the Los Angeles Times.
“There are lots of babies, lots of children, and they’re literally frightened. It’s like devils on the wall — big scary eyes and big scary teeth, and just the whole vibe is not what we’re used to”
Patti Negri, president of the Hollywood Dell Civic Association, told the Los Angeles Times.
