Sneak Peek of Tyler Perry’s New Shows For OWN – Will You Be Watching?
Some Blacks relationship to Tyler Perry’s work is complicated. On one hand they love that he gives so many black actors much-need work, and on the other, they’re constantly frustrated by his predictable storylines and problematic depictions of black women.
But it doesn’t really matter what the hell you think; Mama O loves her some Tyler Perry and has teamed up with the filmmaker for two new scripted shows for OWN.
On May 28 and 29, The Haves and the Have Nots and Love Thy Neighbor will premiere, and Oprah hopes Perry can continue to help her boost her network’s ratings.
And from the looks of things…Well
The Haves and the Have Nots is a soap operay drama fueled by an interracial affair and a woman who uses sex and deception to con her way to the top, while Love Thy Neighbor appears to be a vintage Perry production starring Mama Hattie and ‘nem.
