George Michael had to be airlifted to hospital following a car crash on the M1, where he sustained minor head injuries.
The singer was a passenger in a Range Rover which crashed at 5:50 pm Thursday evening. Ambulance crews and an air ambulance were called to junction 6A in Hertfordshire, near St Albans.

Connie Filippello, the singer’s agent said: “George Michael was a passenger in a vehicle involved in a traffic accident yesterday evening, no third party was involved. He is being treated for superficial cuts and bruises but is fine. We have no further comment at this time."
A spokesperson for Hertfordshire police said: “Police were called at just gone 5.45pm on May 16 to the northbound carriageway of the M1 at junction 6A. The ambulance service and helicopter were also in attendance and a man was taken by helicopter to a hospital in London.
He suffered a head injury.
“The exact circumstances of what happened are unclear at this time and until further investigations have been carried out it would be inappropriate for us to comment further.”
Hertfordshire police said the northbound carriageway was closed for an hour following the crash to allow emergency services to treat both passengers. The southbound carriageway was also closed for around 30 minutes to make space for the helicopter to land.
The 49-year-old singer was arrested and banned from driving for five years in 2010 after driving a Range Rover into a Snappy Snaps store in Hampstead, north London.
Michael, whose real name is Georgios Panayiotou, also received a two year driving ban in 2007 for being discovered at his car wheel “unfit to drive through drugs.
Get well soon George!
