The Daily Buzz For April 10

Brandy Covers Pynk Magazine Latest Issue – 2013
Brandy sat down with Pynk Magazine to talk about her upcoming wedding, balancing motherhood, love and career. What are her plans for the upcoming future. Check out some excerpts.
You recently became engaged. How did you and your fiancé meet and how did you know he was “the one”?
“He’s a music executive. So, we actually met in the studio a long time ago. We reconnected at a music event sometime later and when we talked, it just felt like I knew him. Then I would just run into him in random places in New York…I’d walk into a restaurant for lunch and he’d be there. I ended up running to him at another event and he kept staring at me the whole night. It made me so uncomfortable because I thought he was married. So, I told him that he should stop staring at me because he’s married and it’s not a good look. He was like ‘what are you talking about? I’m not married.’ [laughs] From there, we just started talking on the phone. Then, dating. When he told me he was relocating to LA for his job, I just thought to myself, ‘he’s going to be my husband’. I took that as a sign.”
How do you balance your career, motherhood, and preparing to become a wife?
“I don’t know! [laughs] It’s hard. I haven’t worked this hard in my life! My daughter has her own life now. She’s getting older so she has her own schedule now. Sometimes, I want her to travel with me and she’s like ‘no mom. I have a school trip I have to go on.’ [laughs] I have a great support system though. My fiancé, my mom and god-sisters they definitely help out.”

AmeriCorps Volunteer From Chicago Area Gunned Down In New Orleans
Joseph Massenburg managed to escape the gun violence crippling the Chicago area where he was from only to be gunned down in New Orleans. Massenburg, an 18-year-old from Matteson, Ill., was in the Big Easy doing volunteer work with AmeriCorps, when he was found dead.
AmeriCorps has since pulled two groups, with its National Civilian Community Corps, out of  the area. One of the teams worked directly with Massenburg. "We've moved them back to the campus just for the time-being," AmeriCorps press secretary Samantha Warfield said in a statement. "These people worked and lived together as a team-- they are sort of like a small family and their physical and mental well-being is our number one priority."
One of the two teams was working with Habitat for Humanity, while the other was embedded with Green Light New Orleans, an organization that installs free energy efficient light bulbs for residents in the city. "Everybody at Green Light New Orleans is deeply saddened by Joe's death," GLNO said in a statement on its website. "We know that people are as outraged as we are about this senseless violence and that many are interest in doing something to express their support for Joe, for AmeriCorps, and for the community affected by the crime."

Massenburg recently graduated high school and joined AmeriCorps as a step in dedicating his life to public service. He was the son of two ministers and spent much of his time in the church showcasing his "natural gift," for helping people.
Police have not revealed a motive, or announced the arrest of a suspect, in Massenburg's death.

PREMIERE FAB: Will & Jada Pinkett Smith & MORE Come out for  The Help "Free Angela" Movie Premiere
Will and Jada Pinkett Smith looked extra fabulous like the black Ken & Barbie as they walked to The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in Harlem for last night's premiere of Free Angela And All Political Prisoners.

Jada and Will served as executive producers of the film which chronicles the life of college professor Angela Davis, whose social activism and affiliation with both the Communist Party and the Black Panthers led to her being implicated in a botched kidnapping attempt that left four dead.

The tragic event landed her on the FBI's 10 most wanted list and resulted in one of the most sensational trials of the early 70s.  Angela was eventually acquitted of all charges and went on to continue her work as a social activist.

While discussing the film's themes of civil rights and liberation, Jada was asked about Magic Johnson and his son EJ and how she'd respond if one of her children were gay. She said, "I would support [them]. For me, I just want my kids to be happy. As long as they're happy... As long as they're living the lives that fulfill them, I'm good."

Such a gorgeous dress and color for her.  And hot shoes as usual.
On the red carpet, Will and Jada posed with director Shola Lynch, Angela Davis and her sister Fania and Sidra Smith (who also produced the film).
Will and Sidra (the idential twin sister of actress Tasha Smith) later posed for a photo to celebrated the film's premiere release.
Political activist and rapper Common was among the attendees.
Will's mother, Caroline Bright Smith gave her son a big hug on the carpet.
BET's CEO Debra Lee wore a beige suit with fur trim.
BET's "Don't Sleep" host TJ Holmes wore a dapper blazer.
Former CNN talking head Roland Martin posed with Shola.
Bethann Hardison posed with supermodel Liya Kebede.
And Kid Capri was there too.
Where's he been??
Presented by BET Networks, Free Angela will be released exclusively in select AMC theatres in Washington D.C., Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Oakland, Philadelphia and Atlanta on Friday, April 5, 2013. Interested moviegoers will also be able to demand the film in their cities via the Tugg platform.

Judge Judy's Son Caught in Child Rape Scandal
The TV star’s son, Putnam County, N.Y., District Attorney Adam Levy, has come under fire after his live-in personal trainer, Alexandru Hossu, was arrested on March 20 for allegedly “forcibly and violently” raping a 12-year-old girl.
“What Hossu did to my niece is beyond belief,” the victim’s aunt told The ENQUIRER in an emotional interview. “But equally disturbing is what D.A. Levy’s role was in all this. If he had any whiff of what this man did, he should also be held fully accountable!”
Meanwhile, the local sheriff has called for a federal investigation, charging that Levy may have “harbored, shielded, aided or abetted” Hossu, a 35-year-old illegal immigrant from Romania.
In the latest issue of The ENQUIRER, you’ll find out why the girl’s aunt and sheriff seem so suspicious of Levy, even though he insists that his office “acted properly in every aspect of the investigation.”
And you’ll see what Judge Judy thinks about the disturbing case.

Nelly: “No Ones Gonna Pressure Me Into Marriage”
Nelly has decided to speak out on his beliefs about marriage, he also had a very interesting take on celebrity relationships when compared to relationships of regular people…. Nelly says he does want to get married one day, but no one will pressure him into it.

On public perception of his relationships:On if he’s ever been close to marriage:
I don’t think you’ve been close until you’ve been engaged. (He’s never been engaged).
I shy away from public perceptions about my relationships. You can’t tell me what I should be doing in my relationship. I’m not home everyday. I haven’t seen her in two weeks. You see so many celebrities get married and then they’re divorced in a year. You know why? It’s because when they get finally get together….the -ish that you thought was cute, becomes annoying.

On if he will ever get married:
Yea I think so. But nobody is going to force me. Nobody is going to rush me into anything. Marriage is something you should do when you are ready to do it and you know this is everything. I take marriage very seriously. And I only know two ways of marriage. My parents’ marriage didn’t last at all and my grandparents’ marriage lasted 60 years. I’m either gonna go all the way to 60, or I’m not gonna do it.
On industry relationships:
I think people see the relationships that industry folk have and they see the time, but there’re not doing the math. If you do the math on that time, you’ll see that it equals out to something totally different.

On being faithful:
I know me. If I have any questions, I’m going to play on that and eventually that may weigh in on the situation.

Peep the interview….
WERK Nelly….He won’t be marrying Tae neither!

REVERSAL OF FORTUNE: Porsha Stewart's Returning To "RHOA" Next Season...
Divorce papers always seem to bring a change of heart in some way.  And where "Real Housewives' stars are concerned....that usually means dating much younger men than their ex husbands, changing their attitude into something better, or in Porsha's case...having a change of heart about leaving the show.
So here's what we know:  Before Kordell Stewart filed those papers on Porsha..well, blindsided her with them, the Evangelist turned Barbie Trophy Wife had already given Bravo the deuces. Show development sources tell us it was all due to alleged pressure from Kordell and his disdain for how the show made him look.

Kenya, Cynthia, Phaedra, and Kandi even appeared together as a cast on last night's episode of "Conan", but Porsha didn't appear because the show was booked previously when BRAVO was not planning on bringing her back.  NeNe had a previous engagement for "Glee."
But now, we're told BRAVO has ixnayed off the casting call for new Housewives all because Porsha has convinced BRAVO to take her back.  And we all know Andy and co. never miss out on a juicy divorce storyline.

Porsha appeared at yesterday's Upfronts, which is further proof she will be a cast member for the upcoming season.  We also hear Kim Zolciak may be holding a peach again in the opening credits again as she may return as a "RHOA" castmate once again.  Even though we all know she needs to stay her ass where she's at.  But apparently, her possible return depends on ratings for her "Don't Be Tardy" spinoff.

Good luck with that.
