Trinidad James Covers Rolling Out, Talks How His Appreciation Of Music Got Him This Far…Despite The Critics
“All Gold Everything” rapper Trinidad James is answering the critics in the newest online issue of Rolling Out magazine.  Check out his cover, plus how “doing him” lead him to a million dollar record deal…
People can sell anything these days.  And apparently, selling a 2013 version of Martin Lawrence‘s “Jerome” character teamed with elementary yet catchy lyrics can be a multimillion dollar hit with labels like Def Jam.  While some folks think this doesn’t equate talent, Trinidad pretty much says he doesn’t care.  He believes in his sound and his lyrics…and “doing him” has gotten him this far.

The ATL “rapper”, who was working in a clothing store called Ginza Boutique just a year ago, is now living out his dreams.  He’s also covering this week’s issue of Rolling Out as the mag calls this era, Hop Hop’s Golden Age.  Here’s a few of his quotes from the issue:
On how exactly he became an overnight sensation
“I didn’t do anything too crazy when it comes to making this music.  I just believed in my sound and I believed in my lyrics. It was easy for me to believe because all I did was rap about my life. I feel like I have a good ear for beats, picking the right beats and I’m big on sound placement — and it came out dope. It didn’t matter to me what anyone said, it was dope as hell to me. And it ended up getting me pretty far, pretty fast. And I thank God for it.”

On why he thinks he receives negative criticisms
“My success came so fast — and it’s different.  A lot of times in life when we don’t understand something, 8 out of 10 times, we’re gonna go negative before we go positive. It’s very rare that something happens that you don’t understand and you [respond with] ‘Oh, that’s good.’ You’re gonna think it’s bad because you don’t understand it. And with misunderstanding, comes negative thoughts. That’s just how life is. It’s something to get used to. But it is what it is. I gotta do me.”

On what inspires him musically
“I just appreciate music, man.  I listened to so much stuff over the years. [And] there’s music that I hear currently and I think ‘I love this’ and I love it for it what it is. And there’s music I heard back in the day that I loved in the same way. Who am I to say that because these people did it a long time ago, it’s better than right now? I just appreciate music as a whole.”

On how other rappers treat him
“Lots of [older rappers] gave me their fair share of [praise] — [saying] they’re proud of me and [telling me] to just do me,” James explains. “Whatever that consists of — just do me, because they see the originality in it. They understand it because they’ve been down this road. When you’re a real listener of music, and not just a radio type of person, you get a better understanding of my music, because you’ll listen to it for what it is. Then you’ll be all right. Most people that come out usually sound like someone. But I really can’t think of a rapper that I sound like. I really have my own unique style.”

Will be interesting to see how his career plays out.  Check out RollingOut.com for more.

T.I. And Tiny Sex Tape
T.I. and Tiny have been together for a very long time and literally have lived through the “for better or for worse” part of their marriage and know that they are fully committed to one another. That also means that they’ve have a lot of time on their hands to experiment with one another in private, and on a recent episode of Tiny’s new show, Tiny Tonight, she revealed some interesting details regarding her secks life with T.I.
The episode was a Valentine’s Day special, and Tiny spoke openly about her and T.I. having recorded their very own homemade secks tape(s) and how she thought they were n@sty but would sell for millions if they ever got released.
“[It was] real n@sty. [Claudia: On a scale of one to ten?] Fifteen. They were n@sty. They were outside and everything. It was ridiculous. I had fun and the police got it [when they raided our house] and they probably had fun with it too. I just wanted to see if it looks as good as it really is. Our secks tape was like… we could probably get ten million.”

The public will have to wait and see if this footage is ever released.

Facebook Refuses To Remove Racist “Black Baby As Monkey” Post
Not sure if you logged onto Facebook and seen this offensive picture?, a Black monkey and a White baby, with the caption, “Stop Racism: Black Children and White Children are the Same,” reports Clutch Magazine.

The photo, which appears on the page “Laughing so hard you feel a six pack coming on” posted the above photo, has caused a maelstrom of controversy, leading to a petition being created on Change.org demanding that Facebook remove the offensive image.
When FB users reported the image as offensive, they received the following message:
To date, the photo has 335 comments, 2,958 ‘Likes,’ and 237 shares.
Facebook has a policy implemented not to allow hate speech on the forum — apparently, portraying Black children as monkeys does not qualify.

Chroniclers, what do you think about this, should facebook take it down?

Kim Kardashian Tweets a Photo of Diamond Encrusted Handgun
Looks like Kim Kardashian has landed herself in hot water when she uploaded a photo of a bedazzled handgun, weeks after signing a pledge to end gun violence in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.
After the good people of the Internet descended upon Twitter to point out Kim’s hypocrisy, the “Kourtney and Kim take Miami” star quietly removed the Instagram photo. But the web, in all its glory, can never be wiped completely clean of the evidence of Kanye’s baby mama’s gun-totin’ ways.
Kim has yet to respond to the controversy, but we’re sure she feels like it was all just a big misunderstanding one she could have easily avoided by not celebrating the use of guns in the first place.

Do you think it was irresponsible of Kim to post this photo of a diamond-studded gun?

J.Lo Backs Nicki Minaj in Mariah Carey War
Jennifer Lopez is giving advice to Nicki Minaj to help her handle run ins with Mariah Carey.

A furious MARIAH CAREY is blasting JENNIFER LOPEZ for stabbing her in the back, say sources.
Former “American Idol” judge J.Lo is secretly giving career advice to Mariah’s bitter enemy, fellow “Idol” judge Nicki Minaj, in an attempt to have the flamboyant rapper outshine Mariah on the panel, the sources add.
The 12th season of the hit FOXshow has gotten off to an explosive start thanks to a months-long simmering feud between Mariah, 43, and the 30-year-old “Super Bass” singer. Nicki has publicly blasted Mariah as a “bitch,” allegedly threatened her with a gun and stormed off the stage during auditions in Charlotte, N.C.

“Mariah considers Nicki to be more of a pest than anything, like a buzzing gnat,” revealed a close source. “But it’s Jennifer who really gets under her skin. They’ve always bad-mouthed each other, but Mariah hit the roof when she heard Jennifer called Nicki and offered to help her become the most popular ‘American Idol’ judge.
“Jennifer is instructing Nicki on everything, from how to treat contestants to what to wear. Mariah was so upset she called Jennifer directly and told her to butt out!”
Mariah reportedly signed a whopping $18 million deal last July to join the “Idol” judges’ panel just weeks after it was confirmed that Jennifer wasn’t returning.
“It boils down to Mariah having always viewed Jennifer as a subpar singer and actress,” said the source. “And J.Lo thinks Mariah is stuck-up, and has poked fun at her weight struggles. Mariah and Jennifer are now archenemies.”

Little HEAVENLY JERKINS GETS HER ‘MJ' ON
Heavenly Joy Jerkins channels Michael Jackson in an adorable photo shoot. The three-year-old tot knows how to strike a pose! “My beautiful daughter Heavenly Joy getting her MJ dance moves and photo shoot on! Debut album coming soon!” dad Rodney Jerkins writes via Twitter.

Now I am not at all certain that Heavenly is coming out with an album. I think they meant the MOM who name is Joy, but she does have the MJ look and moves!
Music producer Rodney and his wife Joy recently welcomed their third child, Hannah Joy Jerkins, in October of last year. Heavenly is now a big sister!

Frank Ocean Covers New York Times Magazine, Demanded $1 Million To Make Channel Orange
Frank Ocean covers New York Times Magazine. This in-depth interview takes a look into a day in the life of Ocean, but gets very little quotes from the singer/songwriter. The usually reserved Def Jam artist keeps it low in this story that includes color from Ocean and his managers Chris and Kelly Clancy.

“Here's what I think about music and journalism: The most important thing is to just press play.” Ocean told The Times. “All in all, I just don't trust journalists — and I don't think it's a good practice for me to trust journalists.”

The accomplished songwriter opened up about his beginnings in the music industry and interestingly enough, his conflicts with Def Jam Records. “I had a problem listening to anybody, I had a problem listening to A.-and-R.'s telling me how a song was supposed to sound, or what this artist's vibe was," Ocean explained. "I think ultimately the problem with it was that nobody was ready to act on anything, any of the language [of the contract], except the language to keep me in it.”
After Ocean struck out on his own to make the acclaimed mixtape, Nostalgia:Ultra; the Odd Future singer reportedly played hardball with IDJ and label chairman Barry Weiss. “Frank was so bullish and so optimistic and so confident about the album that he was creating that he had his representatives call us up and say that he deserves a lot more money,” Weiss says.

“I don't believe that I had actually heard anything at that point. But we did something atypical, that most labels I don't think would do. We stepped up. We wrote the check. Virtually album-unheard, sight-unseen, we believed so much in this guy that we actually wrote the check.” Weiss refused to answer if he gave Ocean's camp $1,000,000 as the singer has claimed in the past.

John Travolta Gay Sex Lawsuit Dismissed
John Travolta is in the clear after a judge dismissed the sexual harassment case against him.

Days after a judge said that a cruise ship employee was free to take John Travolta to court in a gay sex scandal, the cruise ship employee, Fabian Zanzi, surprising has dismissed his lawsuit, RumorFix has learned.
Zanzi, who worked for Royal Caribbean in 2009, claimed that Travolta offered him $12,000 for gay sex.
Zanzi claimed he was delivering room service to the Grease star when a naked and aroused Travolta hugged the employee.
“Travolta forced his naked person and his erect penis against plaintiff’s person causing plaintiff to experience pain, shock, embarrassment, distress and fear,” the complaint filed in LA federal court alleged.
“My client and our firm are very pleased that Mr. Zanzi has agreed to dismiss the lawsuit,” Marty Singer told RadarOnline.

Kerry Washington Says If President Was Black, She Would Not Have Starred In ‘Scandal’
I’m very interested in how you die-hard ‘Scandal‘ fans will feel about this one. In an interview with EBONY (where she’s snagged the cover), actress Kerry Washington, who plays the role of ‘Olivia Pope’ shares an interesting tid-bit in how color shaped her decision on whether or not to participate in Shonda Rhimes’ popular ABC show.
“I was a little concerned because [the character has] a scandalous relationship with the [occupant of the] White House. I thought, ‘If the president on the show is Black, I will not do the show.’ Because to me, it was too important a moment. I didn’t want to do anything that compromised my relationship with the [president] or that made it seem like I had an insider view on the Obama presidency [...] I thought that would be so disrespectful and so against all the work that I had done.”
Interesting right?
Compliments of Blogs IndieWire, we caught a twitter exchange between Star Jones and Shonda Rhimes.
Do you agree with Kerry’s rationale? Should the President’s color on the show have affected whether or not she played ‘Olivia’ and had an affair with a married man?
Still OVAH!

Al Roker Kissing MSNBC host Willie Geist
Today Show hosts Al Roker and Willie Geist shared a kiss on air as they spiced up a Valentine’s Day segment.
The hosts were testing out two flavors of lip balm which mix together when people kiss, so in the name of investigative journalism, they tried it out themselves.
The two anchors pecked briefly during the segment, and Geist declared it ‘delicious’ after their intimate moment.

Though it only lasted a second, Geist laid down some ground rules before the big kiss.
‘Can we agree this is not a Bar Refaeli moment?’ he said, referring to the Super Bowl ad where the model has a steamy make out session with a computer geek.
Geist layered on the Peaches lip balm and Roker wore the Creme flavor, making the apparently delicious combination of ‘peaches and creme’.
They continued their little ‘bromance’ throughout the show, with Geist jokingly accepting flowers from Roker that were actually intended for the third host, Natalie Morales.

Naomi Campbell shows up hours late for the launch party for her new show 'The Face'.
“Coco Rocha will arrive early, Karolina Kurkova will be on time, and Naomi Campbell will show two hours late,” a guest predicted correctly at Oxygen’s bash for “The Face” Tuesday at Marquee. Campbell — who claims to have curbed her diva behavior to play mentor to naïve model hopefuls — arrived later than her co-stars, and had to pull Rocha and Kurkova back to the unheated outdoor carpet for pictures before being whisked inside.
Freezing media members had shown up three hours earlier to the arctic carpet in anticipation of Campbell’s arrival. About rumors the series’ three model mentors don’t get along, host and former “America’s Next Top Model” judge Nigel Barker told us they’re “neither true nor false.” He said, “At times personalities clashed, but they’re very professional at the end of the day. None of these girls likes to be told they’re not going to win. These are supermodels. They don’t get told ‘no,’ they get told ‘yes,’ and then, ‘when’ and ‘how much.’ For them, not to win is a big problem.”
