THIS IDIOT Chris Culliver's "Gays Don't Belong In The NFL" Comments has made The 49'ers LIVID!
OH LAWD: The pre-Superbowl drama is on full throttle as folks are extra pissy about San Francisco
Cornerback Chris Culliver...yeah, the dude pictured above...is against having gay men on his team. And in the NFL period.
The two Superbowl teams did their press day in New Orleans
This brings us to Chris Culliver, who went on an anti-gay tirade, that he though was pretty comical, while chatting it up with shock jock Artie Lang.
"I don't do the gay guys man," Culliver said. "I don't do that. No, we don't got no gay people on the team, they gotta get up out of here if they do."
He then proceeded to pretty much say gays don't belong in the league at all, and should only "come out" after leaving for 10 years.
Hudson Taylor, the Executive Director of Athlete Ally, which works to end homophobia in sports, released a statement condemning Culliver's remarks:
“Chris Culliver’s comments are disrespectful, discriminatory and dangerous, particularly for the young people who look up to him. His words underscore the importance of the Athlete Ally movement and the key role that professional athletes play in shaping an athletic climate that affirms and includes gay and lesbian players."
Culliver’s views are as marginal as they are misguided. We’re seeing more and more NFL players take a stand against homophobia in sports through our organization and we know that support at this level is only going to grow. Athlete Ally’s NFL Ambassadors Brendon Ayanbadejo of the AFC Champion Baltimore Ravens, Chris Kluwe of the Minnesota Vikings and Scott Fujita of the Cleveland Browns connect our organization and the NFL, help promote the mission to end homophobia in sports by speaking out to their teams, leagues and fan bases, and encourage their colleagues to join in the effort. It’s clear by their involvement and the incredible support they are receiving from NFL fans across the country that discrimination is on the fringe and has absolutely no place in sports.”
And after all of the internet was up in arms after these words surfaced, the 49ers organization quickly put out its own statement condemning the comments:

And Chris also apologized saying
"The derogatory comments I made yesterday were a reflection of thoughts in my head, but they are not how I feel," he said in the statement. "It has taken me seeing them in print to realize that they are hurtful and ugly. Those discriminating feelings are truly not in my heart. Further, I apologize to those who I have hurt and offended, and I pledge to learn and grow from this experience."
Culliver planned to formally address his remarks at a news conference during the 49ers' media availability Thursday morning, according to his personal public relations representative, Theodore Palmer.
"Chris is very apologetic for any harm caused to anyone," Palmer told The Associated Press in a phone interview. "His intent was not that at all. He is one who celebrates the differences of others. All of this was just a big mistake. It was interpreted wrong."
But here is my problem. As I was reading through the different LGBTQ blogs on this. It just amazes me how many don’t’ know that as Chris’s words were hateful and mean spirited. Some in the LGBTQ Community can be just as hateful…..don’t believe me????
Then let me show you the LOVE that some in the LGBTQ community have for The African American Community…

Btw, anyone who wants to whine about racism needs to fess up to the fact they have NEVER lived in a mostly black neighborhood. I was never, ever, racist until I lived in Harlem and witnessed countless times the complete void of manners. And, btw, yes, some of my best friends are black.

12 hours ago ( 8:07 PM) Mr. Culliver needs to come out the closet or learn to say "no comment". Men confident in their sexuality aren't offended by homosexuality anymore than a confident women are offended by overbearing heterosexual men. Just to put him at ease, not all gay men do black.
Now Change.org has a petition asking folks to sign to have Culliver dropped from the 49'ers.

I’ll say this and be done he as truly ignorant for saying what he said. But reading some of these comments from these blogs also speaks a great deal how African American Americans viewed in the LGBTQ Community. See its one thing to berate him. Its another thing to blame an entire RACE. Just to let you know as some gays like to say there was a time the NFL didn’t want Blacks. There also was a time the Blacks weren’t welcomed in Gay Bars

ReplyDeleteI lived in an all Black neighborhood in 2005-2007 when my partner and I bought our house "in a not so good neighborhood." We heard gunfire on a daily and nightly basis and our house was broken into, vandalized and robbed while we were hard at work trying to make a living and paying taxes for the American Dream that turned out to be the experience from hell. I began having a lot of angry thoughts and resentments toward Blacks and we eventually moved out.
