Does R.Kelly’s ‘Trapped In the Closet’ Deserve Broadway?
R.Kelly is bringing Twan, Sylvester, Pimp Lucius and “the package” to Broadway. On Monday, while debuting the latest version (it comes out on Friday) at Sunshine Theater, R.Kelly announced that his long-running “Trapped in the Closet” series is headed to Broadway.
“To transform it into a Broadway version, that’s what I’m working on. I’m glad to be one of the astronauts to take this thing to the unknown. Somehow, I landed `Trapped in the Closet’ from being silly. I’m just having a lot of fun. I don’t have a job so I sit in the studio all day and think of stuff to do and this is just something stupid I’ve done that’s been successful for me,” he said. “I’m having a lot of fun with it.”
He continued:
“I want everybody to know I’ve got 85 chapters of `Trapped in the Closet’ waiting in the studio for y’all. “The chapters that are coming – the show, we call it – is going to exceed every chapter that you have ever seen.”

The ladies will play mothers from different walks of life who are brought together by a crisis and their kids' school. Actors William Levy and Tyler Perry will play the male leads with Tyler also writing, directing, and producing. You know, the usual. Not mad at that though.
With a multi-racial cast, Tyler really seems to be reaching for a broad demographic with this project and expanding his base. Lionsgate says the film will open on May 9, 2014.
Chris Brown cancels gig in South America after protests over Rihanna attack
Chris Brown has canceled a stadium concert in South America after local protests over his 2009 beating of then-girlfriend Rihanna, according to event organizers.
Brown was billed to headline a big show in Guyana on December 26.
But he drew the ire of women's rights groups and opposition lawmakers who said Brown would not be welcome in Guyana three years after his assault of Barbadian superstar Rihanna.
Concert promoter Hits & Jams Entertainment said on Thursday that Brown backed out, citing discomfort with the protests.
In 2009, Brown hit, choked and bit Rihanna during an argument in Los Angeles. He later pleaded guilty to assault.
Since then, Brown has worked to repair his image, undergoing violence counseling and putting out a new album.
He has a duet with Rihanna on her recently released record, Unapologetic.

Mel B Gets Restraining Order Extended
Former Spice Girl Melanie Brown Thursday won an extension to a restraining order against a well-known Australian paparazzo ensuring he keeps his distance for at least another five months.
The singer, who is a judge on the popular talent show X Factor Australia and lives for much of the year in Sydney, alleged on 1 November that Jamie Fawcett endangered her life while she was in a kayak on Sydney Harbour.
Waverley Local Court extended a restraining order against the paparazzo, granted earlier this month, on Thursday. Yet, original orders that Fawcett also stay away from Brown’s husband Stephen Belafonte, were removed.
Fawcett, who must not come within five metres of Brown or contact her until the matter is heard again on 15 April 2013, said the situation had been blown out of proportion and was bringing him unnecessary costs.
‘Intimidating behaviour’
“I’m a professional photographer and that’s what I do and I’ve been doing this for a long while,” he said outside the court.
“The issue is to whether a mere act of taking a picture is intimidating behaviour.
“In my view, taking a picture is just part and parcel of being in the business of show business and… for people that spend their lives in front of the camera, that action shouldn’t be seen as being wrong.”
Brown made her name as “Scary Spice” in the 90s girl-group Spice Girls, which also featured Victoria Beckham, wife of English footballing superstar David Beckham.

Government To Take Nas Tour Money For Back Taxes
Nas and his tax problems may be solved, but probably not the way he wants them to be. The State of Georgia is ready to collect their money and take it right from his tour money.
TMZ reports that the State of Georgia now has the right to garnish a million dollars from Nas’ earning to repay his tax debt. The Georgia Department of Revenue filed new legal documents to collect $1,083,435 from Nas. He is back on his taxes from the years of 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010.
The Georgia Dept of Revenue has ordered Live Nation to garnish his wages until the debt is paid in full. Live Nation is the promotional company that is behind Nas and Lauryn Hill‘s tour. Nas’ people state that the matter was already settled BUT the Georgia Dept of Revenue is saying they still need their money.

Nicki Minaj 'denied entry to her own album release party after turning up late.
Nicki Minaj was denied entry to her own album release party.The Moment For Life singer is reportedly very unhappy after police prevented her from celebrating the release of her new album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded The Re-Up with her entourage at New York hotspot Greenhouse Nightclub on Tuesday because the club was already full to capacity.
A source told website RadarOnline: 'Nicki turned up to the club with about 25 people at 3.30am. She wanted to celebrate with her fans, but she was denied entry at the door by the police because they said the venue was at capacity and there was nothing they could do to accommodate her.'
According to insiders Nicki, 29, was scheduled to make an appearance alongside rappers and music producers Flo Rida and Fabolous but arrived at the event - which was being sponsored by Smirnoff Ice Cake - too late.
An eyewitness said: 'Nicki wasn't happy about it, so she and her group just left.'
Earlier this week, the rapper admitted she won't even be able to watch herself on American Idol when it hits screens because she is afraid she will be too much like Simon Cowell and overly honest.
'Everyone else is so nice. I was just thinking back about some things and I was like, 'I wonder if that was not so nice.'
'I don't think I'm going to be able to watch it. I'm going to be so nervous. But I know people are going to love it. I think it's a great dynamic.'

Gabriel Aubry has been arrested for battery following a 'brutal' Thanksgiving Day brawl with Olivier Martinez.
The model - who is the father of Halle Berry's four-year-old daughter Nahla - reportedly attacked the actress' French fiance Olivier on Thursday morning when he was dropping the child back at Halle's house but came off worse in the fight.
Gabriel was taken to hospital for his injuries after suffering a broken rib, bruises to the face and a possible more serious head injury, TMZ reports.
Oliver has a possible broken hand and neck injuries. He arrived at the same Los Angeles hospital for treatment as Gabriel around an hour after him, according to the website.
The drama went down inside Halle's home after Gabriel dropped of their daughter Nahla in a custodial handover.
Martinez apparently approached Aubry and said: 'We have to move on,' - a reference to the recent custody battle which blocked Halle from moving to France with Nahla.
But Aubry responded by allegedly pushing Martinez and throwing a punch at his face.
Sources told TMZ the fight was 'brutal' with the website describing in detail a blow-by-blow account of the fight:'Olivier blocked [Gabriel's punch] and the punch struck him in the shoulder instead... Gabriel then pushed Olivier to the ground, a struggle ensued, ending when Olivier pinned Gabriel to the ground.' Martinez, who has apparently becoming increasingly bitter during the custody battle, is said to be keen to press charges, TMZ reports.
A source told gossip website TMZ: 'Gabriel went nuts,' in front of Halle and other witnesses.
However, details about the argument are unclear because both men were speaking in French.
The fight comes after Halle, 46, recently had her bid to move Nahla to France with her and Olivier, denied by a judge.
Gabriel, a French-Canadian model who lives and works in Los Angeles, had petitioned the court to stop Halle's plans as it would give him limited access to his daughter, while the Cloud Atlas actress argued the privacy laws are stronger in France and would keep Nahla safe from the paparazzi.
