2012 Soul Train Awards: Red Carpet!
All kinds of surprises hit the red carpet of the 2012 Soul Train Awards in Las Vegas. From "106 & Park" hosts Shorty Da Prince & Paigion finally confirming their couple-status to Lil Mama making a head turning entrance (in a good way) to blasts from the past like Karyn White & Jody Watley.
Well this explains why they ran a collabo internet campaign to become the newest hosts of BET's "106 & Park." Shorty Da Prince & Paigion have been a couple for years, as we've learned from sources who have known them at their past job. And last night, at PH Live at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino at the Awards show, they put their coupledom on display for the first time.
The twosome were boo'd up on the carpet and at the show all night....and made it known they have indeed been a couple for a while. Interesting.
Paigion, in a contour leather sleeved dress from Zara, kicked it backstage with rapper Lil Mama. And dare we say it....we had to do a double take! Chick stepped her game ALL the way up:
Maybe it's the new blonde hair or good makeup (finally) or appropriate grown-up strapless gown she's wearing that's softened her look...but chick looks great. Mad props to her styling team. Hope she keeps it up!
Another blonde bombshell last night was Keyshia Cole. She rocked her ankle strap Charlotte Olympia heels with a little black one-sleeved cut-out Alexander Wang dress. Nice look for her.
Miguel brought Nazanin Mandi, his long time model girlfriend, along on the carpet with him.

Faith Evans looked fab in a white front slit long sleeved dress with embellished shoulders. Wish she would have worn sandals to soften the look even more.
John Legend was flying solo as his fiance Chrissy was off shooting an ad campaign.
Fantasia has been working out extra hard these days. So she showed off her new bod . She could have done without the tights in Vegas and been a little more revealing instead of church lady, but she looks good nonetheless....
The newly engaged "Vampire Diaries" star Kat Graham kept it extra colorful as always in a floral one shoulder dress with a sexy mile-high slit.

Frank Ocean HANGS OUT With Karl Lagerfeld In PARIS
Frank Ocean may be the fashion industry's next hip hop muse as he was seen hanging out with Karl Lagerfeld at a Chanel event in Paris recently.
As the fashion world has already embraced other stars like Kanye West and Azealia Banks (who performed at a few Chanel parties for Karl) the interest in Frank Ocean only seems natural. He has his own sense of style and is a bit of a rebel...things the fashion world often rewards. We can only imagine what a Karl and Frank collab might look like.
Also, folks have been buzzing that we'll finally get to hear the long lost collab between Nas and Frank Ocean called “No Such Thing as White Jesus.” Music producer Hit-Boy tweeted the good news saying,
And on the November 12th pisode of "Gossip Girl," which is in its last season on the CW, the show will be featuring 5 of Frank's Channel Orange tracks throughout the show. It's the first time an episode of the stylish drama will feature the music of one artist exclusively, and it also marks the first time that Frank’s music will be heard in a television series. GOOD DEEDS: Carmelo Anthony Gives Back To The Victims Of Hurricane Sandy
Carmelo Anthony hasn’t forgotten where he came from, and because of that, he was right there to assist the residents of his old neighborhood after they were struck by the wrath of Sandy. This week, Melo paid a visit to his old hood – Columbia Avenue in Brooklyn – to hand out over 500 boxes filled with food and housing supplies to the victims of the hurricane who were left with nothing.
While there, he told reporters that he felt it was his duty to provide for those in need:
I wanted to step up to the forefront. We all know what Sandy did to our city, especially to Brooklyn, and to Red Hook, with us being right here on the water. It hit us pretty bad, so I feel like I’m the face of Red Hook and I wanted to come back and give back to the place I grew up.
I’m one of them, I was once one of them. I grew up running around with a lot of the older guys as a little kid, so for me to come back and to help and give out house supplies and things like that, that’s the least I can do, especially at a time like this.
The residents of Red Hook were very happy to see Carmelo, with one resident telling ESPN:
“Sometimes it feels like we’re the forgotten borough, the forgotten neighborhood,” said Red Hook resident Vanessa Bernard, who has been without power since last Sunday. “This is uplifting. Some families don’t have much at all, and it’s really difficult. Anything helps, and to do this is uplifting.”
Another resident told reporters that Carmelo’s assistance was a blessing:
“This a blessing because I have nothing,” he said after receiving a box of food and housing supplies from Carmelo Anthony. “I have no power, no heat and I was running out of clean clothes. This is a great relief.:
This is refreshing to hear! Although a lot of people have continued on with their lives after Sandy, there are so many people who are still affected and are struggling to deal with the aftermath. Good job Carmelo!
Halle Berry Loses Custody Battle, Not Allowed To Take Nahla To France
Halle Berry has lost the custody battle over Nahla to her ex Gabriel Aubry and was denied permission to take her daughter with her to France.
Halle has argued that the L.A. paparazzi make life in California too dangerous for her and her daughter, and Paris would be a better option for them both. The ‘Cloud Atlas’ star is adamant that she does not want to remove Nahla from her father’s life, but merely wants everyone to be safe.
The 46-year-old actress made headlines for her verbal attack on the paparazzi outside of her 4-year-old daughter’s school, and it seemed like nobody could blame her for wanting them to get out of her daughter’s life.
Halle – who split with Gabriel in 2010- and Olivier, had put their wedding plans on hold while the actress focused on her custody battle but she revealed they hoped to have a child together soon. Halle has spoken of how her daughter wishes for a little sister to play with:
”We pray to God, so sweet. She says, ‘God, please bring me a bunk bed and a baby sister.’ And I say, ‘I can do one of those things, I know for sure.

Chris Brown is scheduled to perform in Stockholm, Sweden on November 19th but not everybody is thrilled about it....

Maia Campbell Will Appear On ‘Iyanla, Fix My Fallen Star’
Troubled actress Maia Campbell made the announcement a couple of days ago that she will appear on Iyanla: Fix My Fallen Star, is scheduled to air November 17th on OWN.
According to OWN’s website, Iyanla will be tackling those dark times in Maia’s life, especially her addiction, and how it made her spiral out of control. The daughter of late novelist, Bebe Moore Campbell, Maia made headlines three years ago for a viral video that showed her engaging in bizarre, unpredictable behavior. There were claims of prostitution and drug abuse.

The Braxton Sisters Planning New Daytime Talk Show
More TV exposure may be on the way for the Braxton family…
According to the Huffington Post, the sisters (minus firecracker Tamar) are in LA pitching a daytime talk show that will include not only endless elements of sass, but an “Spill the T” segment, fashion, relationships and makeover portions of the show, and an “Ask Mommy” segment for the family matriarch to have her input as well. Plenty of competition is expected, as shows including hosts such as Queen Latifah, chef Bobby Flay, and Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner are set to debut.
The Braxtons have been dabbling in the reality tv era for almost two years now. Their show ‘Braxton Family Values’ debuted on WE TV in April 2011 and it follows superstar sister Toni, her mother Evelyn Braxton, her four sisters, their careers and interpersonal relationships. Their second season recently ended in September, leading to the spinoff ‘Tamar and Vince‘ which follows the career and marriage of younger sister Tamar and music mogul husband Vince Herbert.
As far as the talk show goes, it looks like they have secured executive producer Rob Dauber (The Rosie Show, Oprah, Wendy) to make their show a hit.
