MICHAEL VICK…THE COMEBACK KID EAGLES VS RAVENS 23-24 (EAGLES WIN)
Michael Vick went into Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens with much more than pads on his shoulders. Coming off a four-interception debacle in Cleveland last week, which was stacked on top of a season of frustration last year, Vick needed to reassert himself as the Eagles' offensive leader. A jury of 69,144 was empanelled to weigh the evidence.
Vick started off making a strong case. His first pass was a strike to tight end Brent Celek for 23 yards, his second a 17-yarder for DeSean Jackson. A couple throws to Jason Avant and Celek and the Eagles were in the red zone before the F-16s from the pregame flyover had landed.
Then Vick was pressured and took off to his right. As he approached the sideline, he spotted tight end Clay Harbor in the back of the end zone. He failed to spot Bernard Pollard, however. The Ravens safety stepped in front of Vick's wobbly, side-armed, here-we-go-again misfire.
"I really can't explain how I feel in those situations," Vick said. "To come out and get off to such a great start, then to have it all negated by a turnover when you know there are better decisions that could have been made."
Five quarters, five interceptions. It seemed impossible, after a week of swearing he wouldn't make the same mistakes, but Vick made exactly the same kind of mistake. It also seemed impossible that the Eagles could survive that way against the Ravens, a much better team than the Browns.
Funny, what is and isn't impossible. Several hours later, Vick was leading the Eagles toward the very same end zone. Just like last week, he got the ball needing a touchdown to turn a dispiriting loss into a comeback win.
"Obviously," Vick said, "I'm saying to myself, 'Here we go again.'"
This time, Vick was going against a superior defense - with three offensive starters on the sideline with injuries. On this drive, he hit Jackson first, for 14 yards, then Celek for 24. After an 8-yard scramble, he found Celek again for 13 and then Harbor for 14. Thanks to a roughing-the-passer call, that last play created a first down at the Baltimore 3.
Last week, from the Cleveland 4, he got away with a poor throw that was dropped by linebacker L.J. Fort. This time, he unloaded the ball as he was buried by Haloti Ngata. It could have been called intentional grounding. The replacement officials, who were sublimely terrible all game, called it a fumble. Upon video review, they changed the call to an incomplete pass.
"It's extra stress when you have to sit there and wait," Vick said. "You don't want to put the game in the officials' hands. I tried to make a good decision in the moment and I just threw the ball away."
"Things like that happen," Eagles coach Andy Reid said.
Again, given another crack at it, Vick put the winning touchdown on the board. This time, he ran the ball in from the 1-yard line.
"In the moment," Vick said, "you just have to be at your best. It's got to be by any means necessary. . . . It's just encouraging, and I think all the guys feel that."
It was the final play of a really remarkable afternoon for Vick. He did throw one more interception, but it was a ball off Celek's hands - not a bad decision or throw. He completed 23 of 32 passes for 371 yards and a touchdown. His passer rating was 94.7, nearly twice as high as last week's.
"I told him to just keep playing," Reid said. "He'll work through this. He has enough history to know what a great player he is, and that part hasn't changed. He has to keep battling and that's what he did."
Faced with legitimate doubt, Vick delivered a clutch performance. That was the dominant storyline in a game rife with fascinating subplots: Reid vs. former assistant John Harbaugh, Juan Castillo's defense against a legit quarterback, the replacement officials vs. competence. The Eagles came up on the right side in every case.
They have committed nine turnovers in two weeks. They have been called for 19 penalties.
Oh, and they are 2-0.
"It just goes to show how good we can be," Vick said. "It definitely shows how good our defense is. . . . We know how good we can be."
They believed themselves a good team after escaping Cleveland with a 17-16 victory. They gave everyone else reason to believe by beating a much better Baltimore team. There were mistakes and turnovers and penalties, but asterisks? Not this time around.

“O.J. believes Khloe is his natural-born daughter through his affair with Kris Jenner when she was married to his buddy Robert Kardashian – and he wants to do something about it,” revealed an insider. “At 65, he’s tired and becoming increasingly aware he may not ever leave prison alive. He says he wants to ‘do the right thing.’”
But surprisingly, the disgraced football star also wants to cut his oldest daughter Arnelle out of the will after accusing her of squandering his money on booze, parties, lavish vacations and shopping. But all of his kids – four from two marriages – are enraged by his sudden decision to change his will and refuse to speak or write to him as he rots in a Nevada prison cell on armed robbery and kidnapping charges. While he becomes eligible for parole in 2017, he could also wind up serving the full 33 years of his sentence.
“At first they thought he was just making a big joke, but when they realized he was serious, they were flabbergasted,” said the source. “They are furious and wonder why they have to share the wealth with a complete stranger.”
Simpson added insult to injury by disinheriting Arnelle. As The ENQUIRER previously reported, he complained that her alleged mishandling of his money led to the impending foreclosure of his four-bedroom Miami-area home.
“He blames Arnelle for not paying the mortgage and blowing the bulk of his monthly NFL pension checks on lavish living,” said the source.
“When OJ told Arnelle he wanted to include Khloe in his will for an equal share of his estate, she got angry. That just made him even more furious and he told her point-blank he was cutting her out of his will. He said she’s already gotten her share and has spent it.
“While O.J. paid Justin and Sydney living expenses out of his monthly pension payments of $25,000, most of it went to Arnelle, and he says she just wasted it.
“Now he’s cut off Arnelle except for a small allowance.”

Taylor Townsend is a 16-year-old rising tennis star that made headlines when she won the Australian Open as a 14th seed earlier this year. She also won the doubles tournament at the event with her partner Gabrielle Andrews. Partnering with Eugenie Bouchard, she won the 2012 Wimbledon Championships as well. However, her dreams of competing were stifled because the U.S. Tennis Association had decided she was too overweight to play.
Patrick McEnroe, general manager of the U.S. Tennis Association claims “It has nothing to do with weight, nothing to do with body type, it has to do with overall fitness, overall what her game is.” The U.S. Tennis Association has been criticized before for choosing female players based on “model type” looks instead of athletic ability.
Serena Williams was alarmed by the U.S. Tennis Association’s decision to hold a top junior player out of competition over concerns about her fitness. She has stated,
“If that happened, that’s obviously a tragedy, because everyone deserves to play,” Williams said Monday, a day after winning the U.S. Open.
“She’s so sweet and she works so hard,” she added. “For a female, particularly, in the United States, in particular, and African-American, to have to deal with that is unnecessary. … Women athletes come in all different sizes and shapes and colors and everything. I think you can see that more than anywhere on the tennis tour.”
Regardless of the controversial decision leveled against her, Taylor seems to maintain a positive attitude. In her own interview with ESPN, she stated, “I’m not going to sit here and say that I couldn’t have gotten in better shape or that I couldn’t get in better shape,” she said. “I’m not going to sit here and say that I’m the fastest person, the most agile, because I’m not. There’s definitely room for improvement, but it’s a personal opinion.” A line Taylor should live by is that what does not kill you makes you stronger. Townsend began her professional career in 2010 and so far looks to be a young promising tennis star.
T.D. Jakes’ Daughter Files for Divorce
The youngest daughter of Bishop T.D. Jakes “Sarah D. Henson”, has released a statement announcing that she is ending her four year marriage.
Sarah Henson is divorcing her former NFL player husband, Robert Henson after 4 years.

What does having a signature lipstick mean to you as an artist?
"Yung Rapunxel" represents what I'm all about: being myself, no matter what it costs. Yung Rapunxel is that girl who pisses people off but doesn't really mean to. She's actually a sweetheart! But people are so taken aback that she's so herself; she's not even trying to be unique or different. She literally just lives in her head; she does what she wants to do. So, the lipstick is here for someone who is happy to be themself.
Can you discuss how you developed Yung Rapunxel into a heightened alter-ego?
When I first started wearing long weaves – this was when I was about 16 and worked at Starbucks and could afford it, [because] before that, my parents wouldn't let me! – I bought this 24-inch-long weave. And you could not tell me that I was not the sexiest shit ever. I was like, "Oh my gosh, look at me." And I started calling myself Rapunzel; when I wrote "212," I randomly added the "Young" to it. Sometimes when you're writing, ideas just spring up randomly, and I realized "Yung Rapunxel" sounded so cool.
Your new video for "1991" really touches upon the steely, bionic videos of early Nineties house artists. What about vogue-ing and ball culture inspires you?
Well, I'm from Harlem. I went to art school; I grew up with the cunts. And that term doesn't come from me! People think I invented it, but I didn't. To be cunty is to be feminine and to be, like, aware of yourself. Nobody's fucking with that inner strength and delicateness. The cunts, the gay men, adore that. My friends would say, "Oh you need to cunt it up! You're being too banjee." Banjee means unrefined and rough. You need your cunts: they fix your hair for you and do your makeup. They give you confidence and give you life.
So do you feel a special affection for your gay fans?
Definitely. I mean, I'm bisexual, so it makes sense. But I don't want to be that girl who says all gays necessarily hang out together, of course! I have people say to me, "Oh wow, my friend is gay, too," and I'm like, "Yeah, so?"
Who did you admire growing up?
Aaliyah. And I love Beyonce – she's the queen of everything. She's the most remarkable performer and musician. And this is just my humble opinion, but I just think she's better than everyone else making music right now.
Are you still starstruck by her?
Yes, and I met her – and I cried! It was so embarrassing. It was at the Met Ball. I was fucking around with Kanye and she was sitting there, chilling and eating dinner. I freaked out. Michael Clarke Duncan Death Ruled As Respiratory Failure
Michael Clarke Duncan died from respiratory failure, weeks after going into cardiac arrest … this according to the actor’s death certificate. According to the doc, obtained by TMZ, respiratory failure is listed as the immediate cause of death. One of the underlying causes of Michael’s death was anoxic encephalopathy (severe lack of oxygen to the brain). As we first reported, MCD’s organs were severely damaged during the minutes following his initial cardiac episode on July 13th, when the actor went without oxygen for five whole minutes. Other underlying causes include ventricular fibrillation (irregular quivering heartbeat), and acute myocardial infarction (heart attack). Organ nodules (sarcoidosis) were a contributing factor to MCD’s death. Two weeks after he went into cardiac arrest, MCD also received a tracheotomy, presumably to aid in breathing. What I don’t understand if he was supposed to have died a couple weeks after his respiratory failure. Why are they just reporting his death now ? Something is not right with this story.

Kim Kardashian Compares Divorce To Cancer
Kim Kardashian seemingly does 20 interviews a day. She’s just so popular. So it makes sense that every once in a while she’ll say something that makes our brains explode. she told the Guardian that she understood how a cancer patient felt because she also went through something traumatic: her divorce from Kris Humphries. SMH.
[W]e decided to film for the wedding,” she says. “And that was a decision that [Kris Humphries] and I made together. But I think that, with any decisions in life [brace yourselves], like, I spoke to a girl today who had cancer and we were talking about how this is such a hard thing for her, but it taught her a big lesson on who her friends are and so much about life. She’s 18. And I was like, that’s how I feel.”
Venus Williams Has A New Boyfriend
The Williams sisters are having a winning year all the way around; Serena won the US Open on Sunday, after having already won Wimbledon and an Olympic Gold Medal in 2012. Now it seems the elder sister Venus is experiencing some good fortune outside the court in the romance department.
The 32 year old, Williams, is dating 24-year-old 6’1 Cuban model Elio Alberto Pis (does she qualify for cougar status yet?) Pis has modeled for Russell Simmons’ clothing line, and is also working with Venus’ own athletic clothing line EleVen (check the photo below for a shoot the two did together for the brand). He’s not all beauty with no brains either; Pis paid his own way through school, graduating with a degree in Psychology from Florida International University. He seems like quite a catch, and Venus is certainly a deserving woman.
After her scary Sjogren’s Syndrome diagnosis in 2011, we are happy that Williams is back on the court again and enjoying her new boo.
