Rihanna Smashes UK Fragrance Record

That Rihanna Brand just won’t let up.
The 24 year old superstar may struggle to sell her music on mass, however her latest fragrance ‘Rebelle’ is flying off shelves in the UK. In record numbers.

Launched in February, the scent has become with fastest-selling in the UK this year, having already notched up sales of 2 million. End of year estimates put the perfume, the singer’s second (following last year’s ‘Reb’l Fleur’), in contention to double the number to 4 million.
Speaking at its launch, the ‘We Found Love’ singer said of the line: “My new fragrance is about taking control but still being a lady. There’s a feminine, romantic element to the fragrance – but there’s also a defiant quality in it. I love its duality.”
A third scent, christened ‘Nude’, arrives in November.

Say what we will about Ms. Fenty, the power in name, face, and likeness is undeniable. In many ways, she’s re-writing the success narrative for newer acts competing in a music industry ravaged by the recession. With sales at their lowest (and the realisation that not every artist can still sell albums at the rate of a Beyonce or GaGa), labels are creating Rihanna’s (by way of 360 deals) to generate revenue from other arena’s such as endorsements. And clearly, as shown with Ri, it’s working. For the label, that is.

After all, recession or no recession, there’s a reason folk will splash $9.99 on Beyonce album, yet (for the most part) only $0.99 for a Rihanna single. A point notable for many a reason, including the fact that Ms. Knowles also racks up endorsements and isn’t on a 360 deal. You do the math.

Ray J Will Star On TV One’s ‘The Rickey Smiley Show’

Well it looks like your boy Ray J will finally will be back on TV. This time he will be a co-star on Rickey Smiley’s TV show on TV One, based loosely on his life called ‘The Rickey Smiley Show’. Ray will play Kenny Wheil, Rickey’s producer and protege. The show will also star Lil JJ who will play Rickey’s son, Demetria McKinney, from House of Payne, as Rickey’s ex-wife Monica. J. Anthony Brown will also make appearances on the show.

TCA Summer 2012: T.I., Sanaa Lathan Bring New Energy to ‘Boss’

Season 2 of the Starz original series “Boss” comes with fresh swagger, thanks to the addition of T.I. and Sanaa Lathan, who attended the TCA press tour in Beverly Hills Thursday to talk about their new roles opposite Golden Globe winner Kelsey Grammer in the critically-acclaimed series.
After gutting his inner circle, Grammer’s Mayor Tom Kane begins season 2 still battling his degenerative disease while continuing his pursuit of power. One of his new hires is the projects-bred Mona Fredricks (Lathan). But, she begins in the season premiere (premiering Aug. 17 at 9 p.m.) as Chief of Staff to Alderman Ross.

“Mona is a very smart, politically savvy woman who grew up on the South Side of Chicago,” said Lathan. “She grew up in a community that was very disenfranchised. And I believe that she pursued politics to be an advocate for those people in that community.

“There is a very big housing development that’s being redeveloped called Lennox Gardens, which is akin to the actual real life Cabrini Green in Chicago. She’s really concerned about the community there and wants to make sure that they’re not abandoned. And I think Kane is really the only one who can do something about it, so when she has the opportunity to work with him, she takes it.”

Tip “T.I.” Harris joins the series as Trey Rogers, the drug dealing cousin of Darius (Rotimi) who has designs on City Hall. Below, T.I. and Grammer explain how his character fits into the story and why he’s in a solid position for a political future.

Oprah Winfrey Channels Her Inner Nicki Minaj, Shows Off Her Wig Game

A make-up free Oprah recently shared her “girls” a.k.a her wigs on set of her new movie The Butler that she is currently filming in New Orleans. For those unfamiliar with her latest film, the movie is based on the story of Eugene Allen. Allen was a black man who worked as a butler from 1952 to 1986 serving eight Presidents in the White House. Starting out as a pantry man, Allen had the ultimate seat in the White House, observing first hand political and U.S history in the making (monumental moments like the Vietnam War, the Civil Rights Movement, the assassinations of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Robert Kennedy and John F. Kennedy) while working at the White House.

Allen and his wife of 65 years were overjoyed that they would finally get to foresee a black president in office after so many years. Featuring an all-star cast, the film features Oprah, Cuba Gooding Jr., Nicole Kidman, Zac Efron, Lenny Kravitz, Minka Kelly and Alex Pettyfer. There are rumors that Mila Kunis may portray Jackie Kennedy and that John Cusack will play Richard Nixon. Other names that have been floating around are Hugh Jackman with David Oyelowo (Red Tails) being looked into as portraying the role of the Butler. The film is being directed by Lee Daniels who worked with Oprah while directing Precious. The Butler is expected to hit theaters sometime next year. G.O.O.D Music Releases “Cruel Summer” Album Cover

Kanye took to Twitter last week to give fans a glimpse of the “Cruel Summer” Album Art Work.

Cruel Summer, is scheduled to finally hit the streets on September 4th. The album will include music from Yeezy, Q-Tip, Common, Pusha T, Big Sean, CyHi The Prynce, Teyana Taylor, 2 Chainz, Hit Boy, and many more guest appearances.

The cover art, which was made by Kanye’s creative team at DONDA, follows the same creative trend as Kanye’s last album with Jay-Z, Watch The Throne.

BECOMING an “American Idol” judge may be a boon for MARAH CAREY’’s career, but it’s a bust for her marriage!
Her hubby, Nick Cannon, who hosts “Idol” rival “America’s Got Talent,” is furious that the 43-year-old Grammy winner ignored his wishes and decided to star on a direct competitor of his show, say sources.
And while he’s publicly said “she’s gonna be amazing on ‘Idol,’” an insider said that “privately, Nick’s gritting his teeth and dead-set against her taking the job.”

When Mariah was deep in delicate negotiations with “Idol” brass, theinsider says Nick tried to “throw water on the negotiations” by telling a reporter: “I don’t know if they can afford Mariah Carey...If they gave J.Lo $20 million, they might have to double that!” Explained the insider: “Nick was tossing around outrageous salary figures in hopes of pricing Mariah out of the market.
“Right until the eleventh hour, he was begging her to pass on the offer.
"He was dangling incentives – diamond jewelry, a luxurious spa vacation, even promising to pay her a one-time ‘gift’ of $15 million for saying no.
“Nick wants her to be a stay-at-home mom to their twins, at least until they turn 5. He was even hoping to have another baby, but Mariah has effectively scorched that dream.”

Vince Vaughn Ready To Executive Produce "Brady Bunch" Reboot

Brace yourselves, Brady Bunch fans: Vince Vaughn is said to be executive producing a reboot of the sitcom nearly 40 years after it's final episode aired.
According to Deadline, CBS is working on a modern version of "The Brady Bunch" which will feature a blended family of eight and document their lives as they face struggles brought on by the current era.
The remake will focus on Bobby Brady, a divorced father who decided to remarry and have a child with a woman who is also divorced and has children of her own, and both of their ex-spouses are expected to make appearances.

Mike Mariano has been named as the writer of the series after Vaughn reportedly approached him with the idea, and Lloyd Schwartz - the son of the original show's creator, Sherwood Schwartz - will work alongside the "Wedding Crashers" star as an executive producer.

People often say seven is the number of completion, and after seven years of hosting the #1 music countdown show, Rocsi Diaz is ready to take her career to the next level. The New Orleans native has her eye set on Hollywood and doesn’t plan on looking back. Rocsi can be found in the latest edition of YRB magazine rocking exclusive pieces from Japanese brand Issey Miyake’s new collection.

YRB Magazine recently caught up with Rocsi. During the interview, she discussed 106 and Park and how it changed her life while also revealing the misconceptions that people may have of her. She also gave sound advice to aspiring talent who are hoping to snag the spot as the next BET ’106 and Park’ host.

Rocsi On her passions:
My passion lies in bettering and empowering our youth. Through my charity, The RocStar Foundation, mentoring and speaking engagements and through how I live my everyday life, I try to be a role model – not only for young girls – but for the youth as a whole. I want them to know they can achieve anything they set forth in their mind. You always need that cheerleader in your life.

On Misconceptions people may have of her:
I’m not what people think I am. People see a persona on television and they tend to think that is how people really are, when in actuality, we are all just human beings. I’m a very spiritual, humble and down-to-earth person. There is so much more to me than what meets the eye.

On how 106 and Park changed her life:
It completely changed my life. This show set the foundation of a very prosperous career for me, and it showed me the reality of dreams coming true. I would have never seen myself on a flagship show on a major network for so long, and Terrence J and I have been able to outlast other television hosts in our demographic who didn’t last as long. You have to give us some type of credit for that.”

On Life after 106 and Park:
I see myself continuing to host and be a part of the entertainment world. It is something I have grown to love, and I truly enjoy it. I have also ventured into the realm of acting, as well as writing and producing movies. I’m currently filming, as well as shopping around the very first film that I produced, and I’m really excited about it.

On advice for the next 106 and Park host:
“Always follow your passion. Look at the people that came before you. Study the greats and practice, but most importantly, try to set your lane. Don’t settle for trying to be the next me, but instead become the best you.

A prank pulling NFL player and his rambunctious wife are preparing to takeover television screens this fall with the first season of their new reality show. Evelyn Lozada, now Mrs. Evelyn Johnson and her Miami Dolphins playing husband, will star in “Ev and Ocho.” The series will debut with an episode featuring their July 4 wedding before delving further into the couple’s personal life. As previously reported the basketball-wife-turned-football wife, married the wide receiver in a lavish holiday ceremony. Lozada wore three nes Di Santo gowns for the occasion, while Chad donned a pair of gold spiked Christian Loubotuin loafers. Since then the couple’s photos have appeared solely in the pages of US Weekly and Life & Style.

An Extremely Thin, But Glam Natalie Cole Dines In West Hollywood

Singer and daughter of the legendary Nat King Cole, Natalie Maria Cole was spotted chatting it up with friends at Madeo Restaurant in West Hollywood on Tuesday. Natalie appeared to be in good spirits after just a month ago, her mom Maria Cole passed away. According to reports, the 62 year old singer has been battling health issues including hepatitis c and undergoing a kidney transplant in 2009.

Through it all Natalie looks amazing rocking a high lifted bun, above the knee nude dress with matching stilettos. We’ve never seen her this thin, but hopefully she’s healthy and she seemed to be enjoying herself on her night on the town…I LOVE NATALIE! She’s just UNFORGETTABLE!!
