Jada Pinkett Covers Essence and Addresses Human Trafficking
Jada Pinkett Smith is no stranger to Essence magazine covers, but the Hollywood wife and mother isn’t just gracing the cover of the mag’s September issue for herself, she’s doing it to raise awareness for the latest task on her plate: battling human trafficking.
“When something speaks to you as brightly and as strongly as this particular issue speaks to me, you just put every resource that you have to move things forward,” she told the magazine. “That’s what we do, we move fast. It’s the entertainment business. You have to move like a rocket. We’re talking about people’s lives…”
Jada already testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee earlier this year, after being encouraged by her daughter Willow to tackle the issue. Now, she’s more than happy to use Essence‘s platform to drive the importance of the issue home—while still knocking down some nasty rumors. As the magazine states:
“Jada Pinkett Smith needs your help. Newly armed as a warrior against human trafficking — even right here in the U.S. — the Hollywood beauty is on a mission to save Black and Brown girls everywhere whose bodies are being sold against their will. She’s also been fighting another war: protecting her family from the intense scrutiny that’s part of the life of a Hollywood star. But she’s standing tall against the drama — the divorce rumors and critiques of her parenting style — and thriving.”
Are you gonna check this issue out?

Jordin Sparks GOES GLITZ For REDBOOK September 2012
Jordin Sparks makes wholesome look sexy on the September 2012 cover of REDBOOK magazine. The singer and actress is poised to take over theaters next Friday with the lead role in Sparkle, and she's dishing all on how Whitney Houston, weight loss, & the love of her life Jason Derulo, have changed things.

Jordin's looking stunning in orange as she covers the pages of REBOOK's big September issue. And she's being surprisingly open about how weight loss has affected her life, how much she loves her man (they just celebrated their 1-year anniversary on Augiust 1!) and why she chooses to avoid the Hollywood party scene.
On how Whitney Houston's death puts Sparkle in a new light:
"I get so overwhelmed because it's my first film, and for my first film to be so deep and heavy...I got to work with one of my idols and sing with her, and she even played my mother. I don't know if anything will ever be as good as this. Sometimes I ask myself, 'Why did I deserve to have a part in a film like this?' I don’t want this to come off crazy, but somebody said to me, 'It's like Whitney essentially passed the torch.' And to hear that, it's just nuts."

On Whitney’s struggles with addiction:
I can only talk about what I experienced. I do think there is a different aura around the film now. I think there was some skepticism before. And there are certainly some themes in the movie that everyone would have wanted to ask Whitney about like, “Did you relate your own life to this part,” which I’m sure she would have answered honestly. The cool thing about Whitney was that she was not scared to talk about or confront the things she had gone through.
On her recent weight loss:
"My whole journey has been about self-acceptance. There's no quick or magical way to lose weight. You just have to do it the natural way — diet and exercise and stick to it — and be able to do it at your own pace. Everyone has their own thing."

On finding love with fellow musician Jason Derulo:
"We both went through things that were tragic, and that brought us even closer together. He had a near-death experience, and I lost someone. Priorities get in line when stuff like that happens. Family is what matters —  and being with the people you love."
On why Hollywood's party scene isn't for her:
"Oh, I'm waaay too scared to dabble in anything like that. I like the way my heart beats, I like the way I think; I don't need or want anything to change that. The first thing I think of is, 'What would my grandparents say?' My mom and dad would kick my butt."
Nice! The issue hits stands August 14th.

The Most Popular Athlete In The Olympics: Gabby Douglas “Lands” People Magazine Cover
Just five days after becoming the first black girl to win the all-around title in gymnastics and the first gymnast to win that title as well as the team gold, Gabby Douglas is on the cover of People Magazine.
She’ll likely make big bucks for the publication, considering she is the single most popular athlete in this year’s Olympics. According to the Associated Press:
NBC says the gymnastics gold medalist is the most clicked-upon athlete on its Olympics website. Through Sunday, her profile on the site had more than 18 million page views. That’s far above the second-ranked athlete, swimmer Michael Phelps, whose profile had just over 7 million page views.
Clearly, America loves women’s gymnastics. NBC also says that four of the five most clicked-upon athletes were female gymnasts.

Gabby’s press coverage was slow in the beginning as many were still focused on World Champion Jordyn Wieber. In fact MSNBC’s Tamron Hall credited black bloggers for the initial buzz around Gabby after she won an automatic bid in the US Olympic finals. By the time she led her team to win their first gold medal since the Magnificent Seven won in 1996, she was a household name. She sealed her place in history after becoming only the fourth US gymnast in history to win the all-around gold medal.
In the past two weeks, her rise in popularity has been nearly as stunning as her performances. She gained a Twitter shoutout from the likes of Oprah, Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga; a website shoutout from Beyonce; a phone call from President Obama; and a face-to-face meeting with Kate Middleton. Not too shabby for a 16-year-old from Virginia Beach who only began training with her current coach in Iowa a mere 21 months ago.
Now the teen athlete can take her star power all the way to the bank. USA Today reports that Gabby is the biggest gymnastic star since Mary Lou Retton and her accomplishment combined with her personality ensures that the endorsements have already begun rolling in:

An all-around gymnastics gold medal is worth about $2 million annually in endorsements. And Douglas picked up a big one last Friday, landing on front of the Kellogg’s Corn Flakes cereal box. She’d previously signed a deal with Procter & Gamble after winning the U.S. Olympic trials in San Jose.
AJ Maestas, president of Chicago-based Navigate Marketing told LA Times: ”If [Gabby's] business is well-managed and her career stays on track, she should make between $2 million and $4 million in endorsement revenue per year for the next four years.”
Her business should be well-managed as the LA Times also reported that Gabby has an agent, Sheryl Shade. The same agent who helped Shawn Johnson parlay her 2008 Olympic performance of three silver medals and a balance beam gold into a post-Olympic career that included a winning turn on “Dancing With the Stars”. Sounds like Gabby is already on the right  track.
Though the gymnast wrote that winning the Team Gold was the biggest night of her life, it’s highly likely she has big days ahead as well. Kudos to People Magazine for choosing her for the cover.

Pink Confirms Eminem Collaboration and a Few other things too!
Pink is opening up like never before.
In a recent interview with The Herald Sun, the ‘Trouble’some singer has confirmed speculation surrounding a number of reports surrounding her.
Reports, which include a new duet with Eminem, judging positions on X Factor USA and The Voice, as well as an upcoming 2013 tour.
Via The Herald:
SINGER Pink has revealed she was offered the job as female judge on the Australian version of The Voice.
However the singer declined for fear of alienating the public with her blunt  opinions.
“I was offered The Voice in Australia plus American Idol and The X Factor,” Pink said today.
“I said no because you can’t be honest. People will hate you if you’re honest. Simon Cowell is the only person who gets away with it because he’s got an accent. And he’s a man.
“People would just hate me more than they already do. I don’t want to hurt anybody’s feelings. Besides, you can sing karaoke anywhere…”

Pink also disclosed her new album The Truth About Love contains a duet with Eminem – Here Comes the Weekend. It is part of a musical trade after Pink sang on his last album.
“He said ‘Do you want to do a song with me?’ F— yeah! I said ‘Do you want to do a song with me?’ and he said ‘F— yeah!” Handshake. Nothing signed. Done.”
The track is an “alternative club banger” but Pink said “I think we have another song in our future that will be funny and sh– talking.”

The highly-anticipated album also features vocals from Lily Allen on True Love (“she’s the funniest, wittiest person”) and Just Give Me a Reason, a duet with Nate Reuss from chart toppers fun.
Pink has also written a song called I Walk Alone for Cher’s new album.
“It’s such an honor,” she said. “I finally feel like a songwriter. And I’m such a fan.”
Pink is planning another lengthy Australian tour for mid 2013, her first since the birth of daughter Willow.
Her last Australian tour, which stretched over four months, broke records.
Pink is already brainstorming new acrobatic tricks for the tour.
“It’ll be perfect because Willow will be asleep when I go on stage. I’ll say goodnight to her and it’ll be (sings) ‘Get the party started…’ I’m so looking forward to it.”
Pink is planning to visit down under in October to promote the album and No.1 single Blow Me but said she had reservations about introducing Willow to local wildlife.
“I want to show her a koala or a kangaroo but what if something happens and there’s a mean kangaroo? And aren’t koalas mean if they’re not high? I’m a worry-wort mother now.”
Your thoughts?..I luvs this chick!

There were a few names in the atmosphere that turnt Tree Sound Studios up just a bit more; of them were Ne-Yo and Bobby Valentino. #HoweverComma when Chainz came to the stage he owned that thang like he always does, but in a slick and nonchalant manner. Chainz is a lot more down to earth, Chainz do it For the People so says his fan base.In addition to Chainz celebration of his new album, he was presented with a GOLD record from #DefJamRecords. As Chainz gave thanks to all who believed in him, he on a more personal note in my opinion stated “ I consider myself a Street base Rapper; I have a lot of TRAP in my resume, but I believe in progression and prosperity and the album I’m putting out shows growth, but it is Not my Peak” -2Chainz. As a rapper he has to be of the most humble in my opinion, he also stated “I still have some growing to do”, and that alone says a lot. I guess.
