Chavis Carter Shoots Himself In The Head, While Handcuffed In The Back Of A Police Car?
Teresa Carter just doesn’t understand what happened to her son Chavis Carter in the back of a police car. How did Chavis Carter manage to shoot himself in the head while he was handcuffed in the back of a police car? That is the question investigators must answer after the 21-year-old who died at the hospital of an alleged self-inflicted gunshot. Here is the police account of the story: Chavis Carter was a passenger in a white pickup truck that was stopped just before 10 o’clock last Saturday night (JUL28) in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Officer Keith Baggett said while he searched the vehicle, Officer Ron Marsh questioned and searched Chavis. He reportedly found “some marijuana” and several new plastic baggies on Chavis.
According to the report, Officer Marsh ran Chavis’s information through dispatch and learned that he was wanted on a warrant in Southaven, Mississippi — were Chavis lived. After confirming the warrant, Officer Marsh had Chavis “exit the patrol unit, placed him into handcuffs, searched him a second time then placed him into the back seat of the patrol unit.”
Everything sounds on the up and up and is pretty standard procedure. However, what happened next blows their story out of the water. As police went about their investigation, Officer Baggett said a car passed and then he heard “a loud thump with a metallic sound.” At the time he believed the vehicle had run over a piece of metal on the road.
When the two officers on the scene returned to the car, they claim Chavis was “slumped forward,” in the back seat. Officer Marsh said there was a large amount of blood on Chavis’ shirt, pants, seat and floor. He also said Chavis’ hands were still cuffed behind his back. A small caliber handgun was reportedly found beside him. The gun, they said, was somehow missed in both searches.
Seeing that Chavis was still breathing, Officer Marsh radioed for an ambulance and a supervisor. Chavis was taken to St. Bernards Regional Medical Center where he later died of his injury.
Although Jonesboro police are conducting their own investigation, the FBI has now joined the case and started their own investigation into the bizarre incident. “We’ve been asked to get involved,” Kim Brunell, a spokeswoman for the FBI’s Little Rock office said. “The bureau’s ballistics experts will join the probe.”
Teresa Carter, Chavis’s mother has her own theory, “I think they killed him, my son wasn’t suicidal”, said Teresa. She says her son called his girlfriend while pulled over, to say he’d call her from jail. The mother said she was also told her son was shot in his right temple. But she says he was left handed. She says it just doesn’t add up.
Both of the officers involved have been placed on administrative leave while the incident is investigated. Will there be justice for Chavis Carter or will the investigators decide the young man was a modern-day Houdini and managed to shoot himself.

I don't believe it for one mintue! He was murdered...Your Thoughts?
