Bishop T.D Jakes celebrtaed his 35th Aanniversary of ministry with a star studded Black-Tie Gala at The AT&T Performing Arts Center in Dallas TX. The Gala was co-hosted by Tyler Perry and Soledad O'Brien.
The epic length event was filmed for a future broadcast. The Triuphant Journey gala brought out the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Chaka Khan, Shirley Caesar, Jordin Sparks, Fred Hammond, Mary Mary, Kelly Price, Ledisi, BeBe Winans, and Many more. Just check out the photos!
The cast of Jumping the Broom, including Angela Bassett, Loretta Devine, Mike Epps, DeVon Franklin and Megan Good, also made appearances to thank T.D. Jakes for his work in entertainment.
But all the tributes and performances were, in essence, a warm-up for an appearance by the bishop and his wife, First Lady Serita Jakes, who dubbed the gala “a warm group hug.” “It’s hard to overwhelm me,” T.D. Jakes said, with tears welling up in his eyes. “But you’ve done it to me this time. I’ve never had a night as amazing as this one.” In addition to 35 years of ministry, Bishop Jakes celebrated several other milestones his 30th wedding anniversary to Serita Jakes, his 55th birthday, and his15th anniversary of The Potter’s House of Dallas, Inc.

OOPS: Shaunie O’Neal Is Firing Three Cast Members from Basketball Wives:
Well isn’t this interesting news! It is no secret that Shaunie O’Neal, the executive producer of VH1′s “Basketball Wives” has caught a ton of heat for the show’s recent negativity (fighting, name calling, bottle throwing, etc.). In an interview with The Insider, she dishes on if she has plans on returning and if any of the cast members will NOT be back for another season. Peep a few excerpts:

On if Shaunie is returning for another season:
“Honesty, I don’t want to go back….I have no problem walking away from the franchise….I say when right before it’s time to sign on the dotted line … [at the] end of summer…I won’t take responsibility for what it has turned into.”
On if any of the cast mates will be fired from the upcoming season:
“Three [from Miami]…Immediately. No questions asked. Not anything personal, just not where I’m trying to go. Not on the same page. … If I would like this franchise to keep going, yeah, three would have to go.”

Whoa. Who do you think she’s referring to? I have my guesses, but this is about what YOU think? Also, do we really think Shaunie will leave the show and could it survive without her? Peep the full interview here

I'm going into it offering my interpretation and my hard work and my dedication to be the best Sugar Ray ever. Or as good as the man can be. D’Angelo’s First Major Performance In 12 Years At Bonnaroo
D’Angelo returned to the concert stage early Sunday morning with a surprise appearance at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee. The singer’s stage return came in the midst of a Superjam session led by Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson of the Roots, drawing cheers from the crowd on the third day of the festival.
It marked the singer’s first live U.S. performance in 12 years, having performed in Europe earlier this year.
According to the “New York Daily News,” D’Angelo and his all-star band performed 90 minutes of music Sunday morning that included renditions of Jimi Hendrix’s “Have You Ever Been To Electric Ladyland”; “Funky Dollar Bill” by Parliament Funkadelic; “What Is and What Should Never Be” by Led Zeppelin; and the Beatles’ “She Came in Through the Bathroom Window.” (Watch Video Below)
D’Angelo worked from lyric sheets and the band put together a six-hour practice session Saturday before The Roots, Thompson’s regular band, played a gig on Bonnaroo’s biggest stage.
Switching between keyboards and his guitar, D’Angelo’s only verbal interaction with the crowd came near the end of the night when he shouted: “Do y’all want us to go home yet?”
Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson sipping a cup of orange juice, was still fired up after the show.
“Man, I want to go to Disneyland, right?” he said. “I’ve been dreaming about this.”
Quest said he had an ulterior motive for luring his friend to Manchester. He wanted to prove D’Angelo was still in fighting shape.
“I wanted him to see that,” he said. “That’s a green light. Me doing it wasn’t, like, running out of jam partners. Me doing it was basically showing him, ‘Look, you are so missed you don’t even realize how much you are missed,’ hoping that this will be the adrenaline boost that will finally get him to turn his record into the label. It’s done, it’s brilliant. I played on it. I know it’s brilliant. Now it’s just time to let his kids go and show it to the world. That’s what I’m here for.”
D’Angelo is scheduled to perform next month at the Essence Music Festival. He’s also scheduled to tour Europe again later this year.

Rihanna's See-Through Soho Stroll
Wearing another one of her daring fashion choices, Rihanna was spotted out in New York wearing a little less clothing than others on the busy sidewalks.
Leaving little to the imagination, the “Talk That Talk” songstress sported a two piece lace outfit, cardigan and sneakers, but keeping the cardigan in place didn’t seem to be RiRi’s main goal. As the Barbadian beauty flashed a smile for the shutterbugs, she also flashed them a little more than they were expecting.
In other news, the pop superstar recently took to her Twitter page to defend a recent accusation made by the UK Sun about her Armani ads that were released earlier this year.
According to the newspaper, the 24-year-old singer used Irish model Jahnassa Aicken in portions of her ads and was apparently banned from speaking about the body double.
However, in true Rihanna fashion, she wasted no time getting out her side of the story. The sexy brunette took to her Twitter page writing, “Ok @thesunnewspaper , this is the only way I could say this to you!!! F**K YOU....AND yo baggy a** condom,” later adding, “Who is Jahnassa,” and, “Does she have a tat on her hand too?”

Chad Ochocinco Joins The Dolphins!
NFL baller Chad Ochocinco is a Miami Dolphin, according to the news source that bears his name.
From OCNN:
We just got confirmation from Chad Ochocinco that he has just signed with the Miami Dolphins. The 6 time Pro Bowler will now get a chance to finish his career in his home state. More details as they arrive.
Ochocinco worked out for the Dolphins today, and he apparently looked good enough that the Dolphins believed he still has something left, despite a 2011 season in New England in which he was a forgotten man in the Patriots’ offense.

Is there a Kola Boof Djimon Hounsou Sex Tape on the Way?
Kola Boof sheds a little more light on the reason she went to the press about breaking up Kimora Lee Simmons and Djimon Hounsou's marriage...
According to Kola Marriott Hotel workers are threatening to release video of her and Dijmon together.
Apparently that triggered a press release, that I have not been able to locate, that Kola claims Kimora released mentioning her name. That's when all hell broke loose.

Elementary school principal target of racist rants
Graphic hate mail sent to PS 90 administrator Greta Hawkins
Police and education officials are investigating a series of racist hate mail sent to the controversial black principal of a Brooklyn elementary school, the Daily News has learned.
“You are a filthy, dirty, ugly subhuman gorilla,” reads one of the vicious letters sent to Greta Hawkins, the leader of PS 90 in Coney Island.
Hawkins has angered parents and teachers with a series of unpopular policies and for making racially insensitive remarks herself at a staff meeting in 2010.
In January, she generated negative press again, with a highly unpopular bathroom policy that awarded students extra credit for not using the toilet.
Then, this month she drew fire once more for refusing to let students sing the Lee Greenwood ballad “God Bless the USA” at graduation because she objected to the lyrics.
But even her harshest critics say that none of those actions are worthy of the sickening and racist hate mail Hawkins has received since November.
“Let’s hope that AIDS will do what sickle cell anemia failed to do, exterminate your whole simian race,” reads one of three horrifying letters sent to Hawkins at the A-rated school.
Another of the vile rants, which are scrawled in childish capital letters, reads
“N----- and their Jew commie bosses are the scum of the earth.”
Police are conducting an active, ongoing investigation into the noxious letters and Education Department officials are investigating the matter as well.
Hawkins did not respond to calls for comment.
Parents and staffers at the controversy-stricken school were shocked to learn of the hateful letters their divisive principal has received.
“These are vicious attacks,” said Imah Ponce of Coney Island, whose daughter attends PS 90, adding, “We should be able to resolve things without resorting to name-calling.”
But a Facebook page calling for Hawkins’ firing, which popped up after she banned the patriotic Greenwood anthem from graduation, also has its share of nasty language.
“If you don’t like the USA You can get the f--- out, you commie piece of s---,” reads a post on the page by Facebook user Johnny Mula.
City schools Chancellor Dennis Walcott defended Hawkins, noting that students recite the Pledge of Allegiance and sing “America the Beautiful” at the start of each school day.

Justin’s Restaurant Closes It’s Doors!
Sean “Diddy” Combs’ popular Justin’s restaurant in Atlanta is reportedly closing its doors for good after nearly 15 years in business. Initially believed to be closing for renonvations, it turns out the eatery is permanently shuting down. Today, a spokesperson for Bad Boy Worldwide Entertainment Group (BBWEG), founded by Diddy, confirmed that the restaurant will not reopen. According to the statement, BBWEG closed Justin’s Restaurant in order to pursue “other business ventures in music, television, fashion, fragrance and spirits.” The rap mogul’s New York location closed its doors for good five years ago.
