OSCAR DE LA RENTA SPRING 2012
DE LA RENTA 2012 SPRING Oscar de la Renta speaks
volumes with his spring collection
In a sweltering industrial building overlooking Bryant
Park, Oscar de la Renta made volume his mission statement for spring. Several
looks seemed to overflow the runway as models swept clouds of taffeta and
feathers down the aisle, while A-list attendees looked on.
The aesthetic was equal parts conservative — a white
cardigan clasped at the chest with a jeweled brooch and paired with a matching
skirt — and outre, with splashes of acid lime and bright yellow constituting a
dabble in a slightly more eclectic palette.
The designer showed a handful of fur pieces (including
a memorable bolero in neon green), which felt slightly out of place, perhaps
because of the steamy environment. But the little white dress is an Oscar winner
every time, and the designer showed incarnations that incorporated a wide range
of textures. The statement gowns were elegant without seeming stale, and the
skirt suits will please the designer’s core demographic. One thing we can live
without? The sky-high jewel-encrusted satin mules, which would have found a fan
in Louis XIV.
Ladies, Imagine yourself in the middle of dreamy
fairytale with a sea of flowers, beautiful people and amazing designs of the
most extraordinary gowns ever.
Take a look!
OVAH, OVAH,
OVAH!!!!..SIMPLY SICKENING!
I love the lime green ball gown
