“The Help” Got a lot of HELP at the Box Office! $20.5 million!!
The Help had a solid mid-week launch, grossing $9.9 million on Wednesday and Thursday. The female-driven book adaptation's been well-positioned like previous August entries Julie & Julia and Eat Pray Love and has rated relatively well in Box Office Mojo's polling, nearly doubling The Secret Life of Bees with a 7.9 percent score for opening weekend. The picture, which is being distributed by Walt Disney Studios, did best with older women -- 60% of the audience was over 35 and 74% was female.
"The Help" is already off to a better start than two other movies aimed at female audiences that opened on the same weekend in past years and ended up doing robust business. Last summer's "Eat Pray Love,' starring Julia Roberts and also based on a bestselling novel, opened to $23.1 million and ultimately grossed $204.6 million worldwide, while 2009's "Julie & Julia," in which Meryl Streep played Julia Child, debuted to $20 million and finished with $129.5 million in global ticket sales.

Media mogul Tyler Perry has announced plans to partner with Lionsgate on a new cable network to be named Tyler TV.Tyler Perry is taking his next career cue from Oprah Winfrey and launching his own cable network. The super-producer is partnering up with Lionsgate movie studio on a new venture called Tyler TV.
According to the NY Times, the deets are still being ironed out but the network's initial launch will be powered by reruns of Tyler's sitcoms and movies as well as third-party content with a Christianity-slant.

"It is time to get America working again," he said, according to prepared remarks given to reporters beforehand. "That's why, with the support of my family, and an unwavering belief in the goodness of America, I declare to you today my candidacy for president of the United States."
Perry blamed President Obama for S&P's recent downgrade of the United States' AAA credit rating, and promised he would restore the country's good standing.
"In reality, this is just the most recent downgrade," said Perry. "The fact is for nearly three years, President Obama has been downgrading American jobs, downgrading our standing in the world, downgrading our financial stability, downgrading confidence and downgrading the hope of a better future for our children."

Chris Brown is bringing his talents to a stage near you and he’s bringing Kelly Rowland with him. Dates for the F.A.M.E tour has just been announced It’s already been announced that songstress Kelly Rowland would be one of the opening acts for Chris Brown on her F.A.M.E. tour, and now it’s being reported that T-Pain and Tyga will also be added to the list of supporting acts. T-Pain and Chris recently working on ‘Best Love Song’ together, as well as their hit ‘Kiss Kiss,’ while Tyga and Chris released the mixtape ‘Fan of a Fan,’ and had the #1 jam, ‘Dueces,’ which earned the duo a Grammy nod.
The tour is scheduled to begin on September 12 in Toronto, Canada, and will wrap on October 30 in Hartford, Conn.

Philly rapper Beanie Sigel has pleaded guilty to tax evasion charges...
Beans appeared in Federal on August 9th, one day after Watch the Throne dropped, and pleaded guilty to charges that he failed to filed taxes from 2003 to 2005 while he was on Roc-A-Fella Records.
According to the case against him Beanie failed to report over $1 million in income and owes nearly $350k in back taxes. Beans plans to challenge the calculations.

Word on the internet streets this week is that Stacey Dash, who plays lead character Val on "Single Ladies," was told she's not coming back for Season 2. After all the catfights on set, and supposed demands and stank attitude Stacey's been putting out, it's not that hard to believe.
But VH1's press representative tells YBF, “No casting decisions have been made for season 2 of 'Single Ladies'."
So Stacey hasn't gotten that pink slip just yet. But that doesn't mean she won't....

Star Jones Gets Wild at the Hamptons: Did She Meltdown?
*Star Jones has been going through a lot lately and it’s finally catching up with her it seems.
The former “The View” host nearly had a meltdown at the Bridgehampton Polo Club on Saturday when a security guard blocked her from stepping over a low fence.
She was joined by an entourage of about 10-12 people and sat in the Blue Star Jet VIP area. A source said Jones is typically treated well at the venue.
But when a handful of her guests and herself hopped over a low fence separating the VIP area and the rest of the field, she had a bit of a run-in with security.

According to the New York Daily News, the guard finally caught on to the fact that the polo partyers were getting into the VIP area via the wrong entrance. He told Jones she was “not allowed to step over the fence” and would have to go around it. That’s when she became “snarky,” with the guard, telling him he couldn’t speak to her that way. “I’ll step over if I want to!” she said. More than one source heard Jones bellow, becoming “livid.”
The uncomfortable guard, who was in his mid-20s, “didn’t really know what to do,” says our initial source, but stood his ground. “Sorry ma’am,” the insider says he politely replied, with Jones forced to walk around to the proper entrance.

Sources say that’s not the only time she showed her true colors Saturday. Although she seemed in a good mood around friends and celebs like Beth Stern, with whom she happily posed for a photo, she “snubbed” less-well-known polo fanciers.
A spokesman for Star Jones said the Daily News story is “100% inaccurate” and that the television personality had “a pleasurable day.”
