#MusicNews: SZA Hints At Making Children’s Albums To Fulfill Her Remaining Album Commitment

Although SZA is fresh off the release of her latest album, SOS Deluxe: LANA, it seems as if she already has plans on dropping her next one. The multi-talented songstress wants to go a different musical route as she pushes to fulfill her agreement with Top Dawg Entertainment.

Late Saturday evening (Jan. 4), SZA shared, “To fulfill my last 2 album requirements I think I just wanna make peaceful children’s music n get outta here. Then go be a farmer n donate the produce to underserved communities.”
One fan page responded, “yall [too] comfortable disrespecting SZA that you always think that she [owes] you something when she sure as hell doesn’t but you always demand more and when she doesn’t deliver as expected you yell and scream at her and call her defamatory things like no wonder our girl doesn’t want to be famous no more…”

SZA has shown interest in programming for children for a long time. In 2024, she went viral after being a guest on NBC’s Sesame Street. Speaking on the experience, she exclaimed, “GODS TIMING !!! FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS AND SAY THEM OUTLOUD !!NEVER GIVE UP !! ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE I BELIEVE IN YOU !!” This was a follow up to her 2017 post when she said, “HOW DOES ONE GET ON ‘SESAME STREET’!?”

While SZA has always been outspoken about her career, it is news to many that she is seemingly not looking to release any more music after her contract requirements are fulfilled. She has a long history of public ups and downs with her current label and management.

#HipHopNews: Ye Finally Puts An End To His Beef With Kai Cenat
Ye and Kai Cenat are finally on good terms, the streamer revealed on Sunday (Jan. 5).
Over the weekend, the Chicago multihyphenate shared a Photoshopped image of a horse bearing the text “Bully” — the name of his forthcoming solo album — inside the AMP House. “I don’t even know what this s**t means,” Cenat told his audience in a subsequent stream. “I know he’s got an album coming out, and I’m not gon’ lie, I think I’m officially a part of the rollout.”

The internet personality later joked, “He’s trying to call me a dehydrated horse. Oh my God. What does this mean? Is he gonna diss me?” After moments of contemplating, Cenat finally dialed up Ye’s manager, John Monopoly, who told him to be on the lookout for a call from the rapper.

“Not ending the stream until Kanye calls me,” Cenat read from a commenter before adding, “Will we be speaking to him tonight or not?” Unfortunately, the phone call never happened, but he did get an Instagram DM from the father of four.
“Oh my gosh. Kanye just texted me. Kanye said, ‘Happy New Year, family.’ I’m not lying to you,” Cenat said before showing the message to his viewers. “The beef is over, chat. The beef is over.” Moments later, he humorously began dancing to Aloe Blacc’s “The Man” and noted, “I just replied back. I said, ‘Let’s chat when you’re free, brother.’ W reply.”

Ye’s issues with Cenat began after the New York native poked fun at his and Ty Dolla Sign’s VULTURES 1 merchandise, joking that it didn’t fit him properly. In response, the “All Falls Down” artist called the streamer an “industry plant” and warned him to stop mentioning North West during Justin Laboy’s short-lived “The Download” podcast.
He explained, “Don’t mention my daughter’s name, and then you [are] dissing [who’s] paying their $200,000 a month child support… It be that kinda s**t where I’m like, ‘That don’t make God happy.’” Of course, since then, Cenat attended North’s 11th birthday party in June 2024.

Megan Thee Stallion’s boyfriend, NBA star Torrey Craig, accused of cheating
Megan Thee Stallion’s boyfriend, NBA player Torrey Graig, has been accused of cheating on the rap star with an OnlyFans model, something he vehemently denies.
The model, who goes by Jasmine Elizabeth on Instagram, has accused the power forward for the Chicago Bulls of stepping out on Megan with her.
Craig, 34, went on the offensive after Elizabeth posted alleged messages between her and the athlete on Instagram, claiming they had been dating at the same time he was with Megan, 29.

In one of the DMs she allegedly wrote, “I have a question for you. You gonna let me come to one of your games? I’m not tryna be seen, just wanna see you & head out lol.”

Craig fired back on his 110K strong Instagram post:
Graig also posted the alleged messages between the two, claiming they are fake:
According to Yahoo! Sports, the rapper born in Houston as Megan Javon Ruth Pete first notified the public of their romance in August 2024 via a TikTok video. It has since been deleted.

The following month, the “WAP” femcee and Craig were captured on camera cozying up to one another in New York City.
They were quiet for a couple of months until late December when Megan flexed a $7200 Saint Laurent fur purse while sitting courtside at Craig’s home game in Chicago against the Boston Celtics.

Apparently, the latest photo may have triggered Elizabeth because she posted screenshots of her and Craig’s alleged text messages on her IG page. She also claimed that payments were exchanged between the two.
Page Six reports that it reached out to Megan Thee Stallion for comment but has not heard back from the Houston Hottie.

Derrick Rose moved to tears in Bulls halftime ceremony, to have his jersey number retired
The number retirement is still to come for Derrick Rose, but the former league MVP still felt plenty of love on Saturday from the Chicago Bulls.
With several former teammates in the building, the native son of Chicago was honored in a "Derrick Rose Night" halftime ceremony at the United Center on Saturday during a game between the Bulls and the New York Knicks, the two teams that represented 11 of Rose's 15 seasons in the NBA. You can watch the entire ceremony here.

Speakers consisted of Bulls commentator Stacey King, and Bulls and Knicks teammate Joakim Noah. The latter's speech moved Rose to tears.
After a lengthy tribute video, Rose delivered his own speech, which included:
"Being great means sometimes you're going to be disliked. You have to show courage that [even though] people dislike you or whatever it is, that I'm confident in my choice. I'm confident that I will make it. I want to be great. You want to be great

"So thank you Chicago for forcing me to be great, putting those expectations on me, not understanding that I was trying to be great the entire time too, and I just didn't know the environment that I was in that was forcing me to. So thank you for everybody that watched me since I was in sixth grade, seventh grade, eight grade, injuries, MVP, playoff losses, playoff wins, thank you."

Rose announced his retirement in September, with his place in Chicago basketball history more than secure. He was the local star from Simeon High School who came back, by a stroke of fortune, as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft and turned the suffering Bulls into an Eastern Conference contender.

Injuries ultimately ended his run as an elite player, but his reception Saturday showed the city still thinks of him as a star. The Bulls announced earlier Saturday that Rose will be the fifth player in team history to have his number retired, joining Michael Jordan (23), Scottie Pippen (33), Jerry Sloan (4) and Bob Love (10), with a ceremony to be held at a later date.

Patti LaBelle Upset by Her Portrayal in the CNN Luther Vandross Documentary

Last week the Luther Vandross documentary premiered on CNN. Now insiders claim Patti LaBelle is heartbroken by her portrayal...
According to Page Six There’s anger and heartbreak in Patti LaBelle’s camp after she was painted as “a villain” in a movie about one of her dearest friends, we hear.
LaBelle and Luther Vandross had been friends for decades and the “Lady Marmalade” singer was even close with his family, and helped to take care of Vandross “’til the end.”
But when CNN doc “Luther: Never Too Much” — which aired on New Year’s Day — was completed, LaBelle insiders were horrified to find that she’d been solely framed as one of the people who gossiped publicly about his sexuality, which he was notoriously private about.
LaBelle invited the documentary producers into her home and sat for an hour-long interview to share stories about her late friend, insiders tell Page Six.
But they edited out her interview because she refused to sign release forms when producers denied her request to see the final cut.
But sources told us it feels like they set the vocal legend up and “painted her as a villain” by including a 2017 clip of LaBelle confirming years-long rumors about Vandross’s sexuality during an appearance on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen

To add more insult to injury, the film sets up the clip with an itnerview from Vandross’ songwriting partner, Richard Marx, who says, “One of the things that really pissed me off is there are people who have talked about his personal life, people who he considered friends.”
During a screening of the doc at the Tribeca Film Festival last year, the “WWHL” clip solicited boos from the crowd. Sources believes they set LaBelle up and “used her as a villain when she supported him up to the very end,” they said.
We’re told that even production insiders felt that LaBelle had been given a rough ride by the producers. “Some of the producers felt like it was reasonable for her to see [the final edit], but they were overruled,” we’re told, “And some of the producers were not comfortable including that [“WWHL”] clip of Patti.”

“They were very close. She would hire people to tend to him, take him food and look after his mother and aunt,” they added about the time she spent with him after he suffered a stroke.
Futhermore, said the first insider, producers left “her impact on his career out of the film.”
(Vandross founded the first Patti LaBelle fan club while he was in high school, and would often see her perform at the Apollo Theater).
We’re told LaBelle, who has been busy touring at 80, hasn’t seen the documentary yet.

Coco Gauff, Taylor Fritz lead U.S. past Poland for United Cup title
The United States lifted its second United Cup mixed team tournament title in three years Sunday after beating Poland 2-0, with Coco Gauff and Taylor Fritz both winning their singles matches.
The top seed in the $10 million tournament that began with 18 nations clinched the trophy when Fritz defeated Hubert Hurkacz 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 (4) after Gauff outclassed Iga Swiatek 6-4, 6-4 in Sydney.

The Americans also won the 2023 title in the inaugural edition of the tournament, which serves as a tune-up event for the Australian Open.
With the second singles contest locked at one set apiece, Fritz raised his level at 3-3 in the tiebreak of the decider to see off Hurkacz and spark huge celebrations.

Coco Gauff went undefeated at the United Cup, winning all five of her matches at the event. "I have the belief that I'm one of the best players in the world," she said. "When I play good tennis, I'm hard to beat." Andy Cheung/Getty Images
Gauff earlier stepped up preparations for the Australian Open, the year's first major which begins next Sunday, with a second consecutive victory over world No. 2 Swiatek in a blockbuster showdown that gave fans at the Ken Rosewall Arena their money's worth.

Gauff, the world No. 3 who beat Swiatek en route to the WTA Finals title last season, squandered a 2-0 lead in the first set but battled back to gain the upper hand in the match as her opponent committed 19 unforced errors.
In another high-octane set that followed, Gauff recovered a break to level at 4-4 and went on to secure the win that ensured she ended her singles campaign at the tournament unbeaten.

"I have the belief that I'm one of the best players in the world. When I play good tennis, I'm hard to beat," said Gauff, who also beat Leylah Fernandez, Donna Vekic, Zhang Shuai and Karolina Muchova in the event. "Today I think I played some great tennis. I'm glad I was able to get a point for Team USA. It was tough today, I'm not going to lie."

Tom Holland & Zendaya Are Engaged, Proposal Details Revealed (Report)

Well…one publication is seemingly confirming that Zendaya and Tom Holland are engaged after she walked the red carpet at the 2025 Golden Globes with a huge diamond ring!
TMZ is sharing that the 28-year-old actor and 28-year-old actress did get engaged in late 2024!

The site is sharing some details, saying he asked her to marry him sometime between the Christmas and New Year holiday at home. Her family wasn’t present, and it was supposedly a “romantic and intimate” moment between the two of them.
Zendaya and Tom have been dating for years after meeting on the set of their film, Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Congrats to the happy couple – if the news is true! Zendaya's Response to Tom Holland Engagement Question Is Getting Attention After Being Spotted with Diamond Ring

Fans immediately wondered if Zendaya might be engaged to Tom Holland after she was seen wearing a diamond ring at the 2025 Golden Globes.
Well, there’s been an interesting development. A reporter on the red carpet noticed the ring, too, and asked Zendaya, “Are you engaged?”

Zendaya‘s response to the entire exchange was noted, and we have the info here!
The Los Angeles Times recapped what happened, writing, “….as Zendaya exited the ballroom, a recently engaged Times reporter held up her left ring finger and pointed at it. [Zendaya] responded by flashing her own bling on her left hand, doing a sort of jazz-fingers motion. ‘Are you engaged?’ The Times asked. She kept showing her ring, smiled coyly and shrugged her shoulders mysteriously.”

While this isn’t exactly a confirmation, she didn’t quite deny the rumors, either!
Fans have possibly identified the ring as a Jessica McCormack piece. It specifically appears to be the 5.02ct East-West Cushion Diamond Button Back Ring from their collection. Fans also found that Zendaya “liked” an Instagram post featuring a similar ring from the designer, all the way back in 2022!

Michael B. Jordan Dragged Into Feud Between 'Selling The City' Cast
Lights, camera, drama! Michael B. Jordan, known for his roles in "Creed" and "Black Panther," has sparked feud in the realm of Netflix reality TV. The actor, who famously tries to keep his love life under wraps, was brought up on "Selling the City" this season, igniting a flurry of drama among the cast members.

During the first season premiere of the Netflix real-state show, Eleonora Srugo of Douglas Elliman hinted that a high-profile buyer was in the market for a $20 million penthouse. Though she stopped short of naming names, it didn't take long for cast member Abigail Godfrey to disclose the buye's identity as none other than Michael B. Jordan.

This revelation sparked tension within the team, particularly between Jordyn Taylor Braff and Gisselle Meneses Nunez. Jordyn revealed she had recently encountered Jordan and believed she nabbed him as a prospective client. However, Gisselle, who had a past "situationship" with the actor, felt slighted, arguing that Jordyn violated "girl code" by not informing her of their encounter.

Jordyn defended herself, citing a purely business relationship and claiming she had also known Jordan for a long time. "We've been distant friends for years. My point is there is no personal relationship. It is a cut and dry business relationship, which is why this works so well," she fired back.
Jordyn slammed Giselle for making the deal personal by bringing in past relationships. "It muddies things," Jordyn said, to which Gisselle insisted, "Me and him are just friends. There's nothing there anymore."

It's not the first time Michael B. Jordan was dragged into reality TV drama. "Selling Sunset" star Bre Tiesi previously discussed her intimate past with the actor. In a candid revelation, Tiesi dished on she had slept with Jordan, a claim she later stood by during the Season 7 reunion while hooked up to a polygraph machine. The shocker came when Tiesi claimed Jordan was not good in bed.

Whether discussing multi-million dollar properties or dishing out personal secrets, Jordan's name brought intrigue and drama to Netflix's reality shows, capturing the audience's attention and ensuring they stayed glued to their screens.

Both "Selling the City" and "Selling Sunset" are currently streaming on Netflix, offering viewers a tantalizing mix of luxury real estate and celebrity gossip.

'RuPaul's Drag Race UK' Winner The Vivienne Died At 32.
British drag queen James Lee Williams a.k.a The Vivienne, who gained fame as the first winner of "RuPaul's Drag Race UK," and later competed on "RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars season 7," passed away at the age of 32 over the weekend. Their manager, Simon Jones, confirmed the sad news through a heartfelt statement.

"It is with immense sadness that we let you know our beloved James Lee Williams - The Vivienne, has passed this weekend," Jones' statement read. "James was an incredibly loved, warm-hearted, and amazing person."

"We will not be releasing any further details. We please ask that James' family are given the time and privacy they now need to process and grieve," the statement concluded.

The news has sparked an outpouring of tributes from the drag and theatre communities. Michelle Visage, a long-standing judge on "RuPaul's Drag Race," shared her deep sorrow. "Heartbreaking 💔. I don't know how to say how I feel," she wrote on Instagram alongside a photo with The Vivienne.

"My darling @thevivienne_ we go back to when I started coming over here to the UK. You were always there, always laughing, always giving, always on point. Your laughter, your wit, your talent, your drag. I loved all of it but I loved your friendship most of all."

The Vivienne hailed from Colwyn Bay in Wales and quickly rose to stardom. After becoming the UK Drag Ambassador in 2015, they captured viewers' hearts by winning the first series of "RuPaul's Drag Race UK" in 2019.
Their talent was not confined to television; Williams also graced the theatre stage and was starring as the Childcatcher in the U.K. tour of the stage musical "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" at the time of their passing.

Messages of shock and condolences have been numerous. "We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of James Lee Williams, AKA The Vivienne this weekend," stated the production company World of Wonder. "Her talent, humor, and kindness were an inspiration. She achieved so much in her career and will be greatly missed."

Tia Kofi, winner of the second series of "RuPaul's Drag Race: UK vs. the World," tweeted, "This is an incredible loss to the British drag community and to the world. Viv represented UK drag at its absolute finest on stage and screen internationally."
The void left by The Vivienne's passing will undoubtedly be felt deeply within the drag community and beyond. As friends, fans, and family continue to grieve, the legacy of The Vivienne's charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent will shine on forever.

Judge Approves Division of Carl Weathers’ Estate Among His Sons

*The estate of Carl Weathers, known for his iconic role as Apollo Creed in the Rocky films, has been settled, with a judge approving a six-figure inheritance for his sons.
Weathers, who passed away from natural causes at his Venice, California home on February 2, 2024, left behind an estate valued at $870,053.83, The Blast reports.

A court-appointed administrator reviewed his finances to ensure all debts were cleared and assets accounted for before distributing the estate. It was confirmed that Weathers had no outstanding debts or creditor claims, though $40,000 was allocated for administrative and legal fees. His will, originally drafted in 1988 and amended in 2014, named his sons, Matthew and Jason, and former spouses as beneficiaries.

According to In Touch, the final report noted: “There have been no sales, purchases or exchanges of assets, nor any changes in the form of assets. The estate is solvent.”
Weathers’ career in the entertainment industry spanned over 50 years, and his legacy lives on through the Carl Weathers Living Trust, co-managed by his sons, Matthew and Jason.

Born in New Orleans, Weathers played college football at San Diego State and briefly played professionally with the Oakland Raiders and in the Canadian Football League. He gave up football in the mid-1970s and began to pursue acting, earning roles in two blaxploitation movies before his breakthrough with “Rocky.”
“[He] was an exceptional human being who lived an extraordinary life,” Weathers’ family said in a statement after his passing.

“Through his contributions to film, television, the arts, and sports, he has left an indelible mark and is recognized worldwide and across generations. He was a beloved brother, father, grandfather, partner, and friend,” the statement continued.

Justin Trudeau Announces Resignation as Canadian Prime Minister

Trudeau, 53, has faced growing calls to resign before Canada’s 2025 election — which has not yet been scheduled — as polling suggests that the Liberals will badly lose to the Conservatives.
He was elected to lead the struggling center-left party in 2013 and two years later, he became the prime minister when he helped the Liberals return to power.

Trudeau’s political future has been the subject of conversation for some time over public dissatisfaction caused by issues like inflation and a housing shortage, Reuters reports, but Trump’s election in November had a ripple effect in Canada that further complicated the prime minister’s standing with his party.

One of Trudeau’s most loyal Cabinet members, Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland, resigned in December with a warning to the public: that Trudeau was not prepared to save the country from economic turmoil if Trump imposes high tariffs on Canada when he becomes president.
“Our country is facing a grave challenge,” Freeland said in her resignation letter. “That means keeping our fiscal powder dry today, so we have the reserves we may need for a coming tariff war.”
Freeland’s dramatic departure and criticism of Trudeau’s spending sent shockwaves through Parliament, leading Liberal lawmakers to push for the prime minister’s resignation in hopes that they could build a stronger government to counter Trump’s policies.

Trudeau, who did not always see eye to eye with the White House during Trump’s first presidency, met with the U.S. president-elect at Mar-a-Lago in November to discuss the Republican’s threat to impose a 25% tariff on Canadian goods.
Since their meeting, Trump has repeatedly joked that Canada could be absorbed by the U.S. as a 51st state, mocking Trudeau’s strength by calling him the “governor” of “the Great State of Canada.”

Trudeau has been a member of Parliament since 2008 and served as prime minister for three terms alongside three U.S. presidents. No Canadian prime minister has earned a fourth consecutive term in more than a century.
Trudeau was born into a prominent political family. His father, Pierre Trudeau, was serving as the Canadian prime minister when he was born.

#MAGFAB: Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo and Jon M. Chu for Variety - Golden Globes Issue 2025
Wicked stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo discussed how they 'took care of one another' during their emotional, much-mocked press tour for Jon M. Chu's $150M-budget big-screen adaptation of the 2003 Broadway musical.
'We are,' the 31-year-old pop star said in their Variety cover story on Thursday.
'I feel so grateful and proud of how present we've been able to be. A lot of people have come up to us and been like, "How you holding up?" with a long face. And we've just peeked at each other and been like, "We're grateful and floating."'

The globetrotting belters had a habit of welling up at the slightest prompting during their international premieres and press junkets like when Jake's Takes asked how they changed each other on November 8.
Ariana and the British 37-year-old also liberally used therapy-speak buzz words like 'holding space' in an interview with Out Magazine on November 21.
'We can giggle at it all we want, because we're quite funny. I've watched and had a giggle,' Grande (born Butera) admitted.

'But it is really a privilege to work and feel this way, not just as an actress in a movie but as a human being with other human beings who care — yes, about the work, but about each other.'
But the two-time Grammy winner argued that their Wicked castmate Jeff Goldblum - who played the Wizard of Oz - was actually the most emotional person on the set not herself.

'I think Jeff, he kept it to himself,' Ariana said. 'But every time I would like look at him he'd be quietly in a corner, like, watching what's going on crying.'
'I will raise hell if this lady does not get her nomination,' the Defying Gravity belter scoffed.

But first, Cynthia will compete for the best actress in a musical/comedy trophy at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards, which air this Sunday on CBS/Paramount+.
Erivo faces heavy competition against Nightbi***'s Amy Adams, Emilia PĂ©rez star Karla SofĂa GascĂłn, Anora's Mikey Madison, The Substance's Demi Moore, and Challengers star Zendaya.
And Ariana is nominated for best supporting actress against both Emilia Pérez stars Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldaña, The Brutalist's Felicity Jones, The Substance's Margaret Qualley, and Conclave's Isabella Rossellini.

Grande and the daughter of Nigerian immigrants will then compete for prizes at the 30th Critics' Choice Awards, which air January 12 on E!/Peacock.
The Bye songstress also scored three nominations - including best pop vocal album for Eternal Sunshine - at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, which air February 2 on CBS.

Later this year, the A Little Night Music thespian will executive produce and star as London defense attorney Tessa in Susanna White's big-screen adaptation of the play Prime Facie.
Cynthia will also voice a character called The Slink in Disney Jr. animated series Robogobo, which centers on a boy genius and his adopted five misfit pets.
Erivo literally built her entire career on playing prominent African-Americans like Aretha Franklin, Harriet Tubman, and The Color Purple protagonist Celie Harris-Johnson.

#RHOA: Cynthia Erivo Sings Her Praises for Real Housewives of Atlanta Alumna NeNe Leakes: 'Bring Her Back, Please!'
Looks like Cynthia Erivo's name can be added to the long list of celebrity Bravo fans.
The Wicked actress and singer is one of the 16 stars covering W Magazine's Best Performances issue. And in her interview with the outlet, Erivo cited The Real Housewives of Atlanta as her favorite reality show.
"I also love Potomac," the 37-year-old added of The Real Housewives of Potomac. "It's fantastic. They're very honest, which I like. Also, there’s no fighting or fisticuffs, but they will read each other crazily. Atlanta definitely gets a little rowdy, though."

She wasn't the only one sharing her love for the series. Colman Domingo also named RHOA his favorite reality show when asked about it in his W cover story. "I do like it when they fight," he said. "I think that’s the appeal: It’s, you know what? I guess I’m pretty okay if I don’t have this kind of drama with anybody."

Asked by Lynn Hirschberg if Erivo was a fan of RHOA alumna NeNe Leakes, the Tony Award, Grammy Award and Emmy Award winner offered her enthusiastic support.
"I am a NeNe Leakes fan. I love her," said Erivo, who, like Leakes, is a Broadway veteran. The Golden Globe nominee then urged Bravo to return Leakes to the franchise. "Where is she? Bring her back, please. She's great."

Leakes, 57, was one of the original stars of RHOA when the series premiered on Bravo in October 2008. Her quick wit, hilarious reads and no-nonsense attitude helped catapult the series into success.
She remained on RHOA through 2015 and her own spinoff, exiting after season 8 to focus on her acting career after nabbing roles in Glee and The New Normal. Two years later, for RHOA's 10th season, Leakes returned as a full-time Housewife. She stayed with the series before leaving again after season 12 in 2020.

At the time, Leakes said her departure came after "an extremely, extremely long, exhausting, tiring, emotional negotiation," and that this "wasn't an easy decision for me."
"I'm just so happy that I can say that I was a part of a genre that opened up doors for Black ensemble reality shows to step up and be a part of what we all now love so much, reality TV," she said in a video on her YouTube channel.

Bravo, meanwhile, said back then, in part, that "maybe one day, [NeNe will] hold the peach again." But that over the years, that idea has seemed more and more impossible.
In April 2022, Leakes filed a discrimination lawsuit against Bravo, NBC Universal and Housewives executive producer Andy Cohen alleging that the parties "foster a corporate and workplace culture in which racially-insensitive and inappropriate behavior is tolerated — if not, encouraged."

The suit, also named Leakes' former friend and costar Kim Zolciak-Biermann, claiming the "Tardy for the Party" singer made racially insensitive comments for years and went without consequence while Leakes was allegedly reprimanded for the interactions. Though Zolciak-Biermann denied making any of those remarks, Leakes' suit claimed that Bravo "did not terminate their relationship with Zolciak-Biermann, nor take any other meaningful action to put an end to her racially-offensive behavior." Instead, they gave her a spinoff, Don't Be Tardy.

Leakes' suit was mutually dismissed in August of that same year without prejudice. Since then, Leakes has remained vocal about her experience with the network, alleging during an appearance on Just B with Bethenny Frankel published in September 2023 that she has been "severely retaliated against" since speaking out and has "not been able to work at all in any area of entertainment."
"I want fair treatment." Leaks said, using Real Housewives of Orange County star Vicki Gunvalson as an example of the different way white and Black reality stars were treated by the network (Gunvalson was able to return to the airwaves for multiple shows with the network after withdrawing her 2019 lawsuit against the company). "My feelings are they pretty much said, 'F that Black bitch!' "

Bravo never responded to Leakes' words, or request for comment, but a source close to the situation insisted there was "no truth" to the claim that either Cohen or the network had blackballed Leakes from working in the industry.
Indeed, in September 2024, Leakes returned to the NBC Universal family for a gig co-hosting E!’s Live From E!: Emmy After Party alongside Justin Sylvester and Ariana Madix.

Despite her problems, Leakes has long said that she'd be open to returning to RHOA. “I can't say I personally would like to go back on Atlanta Housewives. However, the fans have all asked for me," she told Reality with the King's Carlos King in August 2023. "And the fans are the reason for the ratings, they're the reason for the show being as popular as it is. If I had to go back, it will be 100% for the fans."
"All I asked for was fair treatment," Leakes said, adding that she hopes to patch things up with Cohen one day, despite his refusal to take her calls. "I don't have any hard feelings. ... I hate that we're in this place. I really wish there was a way for us to find our way back to each other because life is short and you don't want to carry ill feelings for the rest of your life. ... It says a lot about a person when they say, 'Let's just move on.' "

Past seasons of The Real Housewives of Atlanta can be streamed now on Peacock. W's Best Performances issue hits newsstands on Feb. 11.

#MusicNews: Erykah Badu Teases New Music, Says it's a Collab Album

Erykah Badu has shared that she has new music on the way — and it’s going to be a collaborative album.
During a recent The Breakfast Club, the Dallas neo-soul singer revealed that she has new music in the works.

“I mean, I’m writing right now. I got a project coming out soon,” she said.
“A full album?” co-host Charlamagne tha God asked.
“Yeah. But I can’t tell y’all about it,” Badu replied.
Charlamagne then asked how soon the project would be released, to which the Baduizm artist said, “It’s going to be soon, soon.”
“Like, by end of the year soon, or next year soon?” co-host DJ Envy asked.

“We’ll see,” Badu answered, adding, “It’s an important one. It’s a collab album.”
She also offered a not-too-helpful hint at who she’s making the album with, only sharing that “he’s a guy.”
Although the neo-soul singer has collaborated with artists for past releases, this is the first time she’s ever described one of her projects as a collaborative album.

Nevertheless, whenever this album drops, it’ll serve as the follow-up to 2015’s But You Caint Use My Phone mixtape. So it’ll be close to almost a decade since we’ve last had a full body of work from Badu.
Elsewhere in The Breakfast Club interview, Badu also discussed her fashion sense, what made the late revered producer J Dilla brilliant and more.

#HipHopNews: Nicki Minaj Faces Lawsuit After Tour Employee Claims He Was Assaulted During “Pink Friday 2 World Tour”
Nicki Minaj is seemingly starting the year off with some legal issues. On Friday (Jan. 3), Billboard reported, “Nicki Minaj has been sued for assault by a man who claims the rapper physically attacked him following a concert in Detroit last April, according to documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court.”

The lawsuit asserted that her former manager, Brandon Garrett, claimed that Minaj attacked him, hitting him multiple times backstage on April 21, after he had another tour employee grab her prescription on his behalf. After finding out, Garrett stated that Minaj responded, “Are you f**king crazy having him pick up my prescription? You have lost your f**king mind and if my husband was here, he would knock out your f**king teeth. You’re a dead man walking. You just f**ked up your whole life and you will never be anyone, I’ll make sure of it.”

The complaint further noted that Minaj “open-handedly struck” Garrett on his face and wrist before ordering him out the room. Shortly after, Garrett claimed he locked himself in the bathroom for hours before receiving a text claiming that he would not be able to take the tour bus from Detroit to Chicago. After taking a flight to the next tour stop, he immediately contacted Chicago Police Department for a police escort exclaiming, “He feared for his safety and did not know if his belongings had been removed or tampered with.”

Billboard further reported that Minaj’s legal representation, Judd Burnstein, shared, “At this time, no complaint has been served upon Mrs. Petty, and therefore, we are unaware of the specific allegations. However, if the lawsuit is as reported by TMZ, it is completely false and frivolous. We are confident that the matter brought by this ex-assistant will be resolved swiftly in Mrs. Petty’s favor.”

Minaj's husband, Kenneth Petty, has had a history of public threats and facing legal problems. In 2023, he was hit with a 120-day house arrest order after a Central District of California court ruled that he violated his probation terms after threatening Offset on social media. The husband of the Sagittarius rapper has been the subject of jokes on social media due to his legal issues.

Kelly Rowland Warns Fans About Ridiculous Scam Being Done In Her Name

In 2001, Destiny’s Child warned us all: we weren’t “ready for this jelly.” Fast forward 24 years later, and one-third of the group has another not-so-fun warning for her fans.

On Thursday, Kelly Rowland reportedly caught wind of a scam being done in her name, by a shady Instagram account with the username @iam.kellyrowland. The con artist messaged at least one fan while pretending to be Rowland, according to a screenshot the real Rowland shared on Instagram, People reported.

“Hey, this is Kelly Rowland from Destiny’s Child,” the scammer wrote. “I have lost my credit card and need money for a plain ticket so I can fly to your city to perform. Can you send me money?”
Presumably hoping to cash in on fans’ nostalgic longing for the trio, the scammer sweetened the deal, promising to “bring BeyoncĂ©” along for the ride, People reported.

Then the user replied, “Hello this is BeyoncĂ©,” insinuating that the “Crazy In Love” singer was in on the chat.
In a now-expired Instagram Story, People reported, Rowland took a screenshot of the message and wrote over the text, “Be careful out here!” She also made sure to point out the glaring typo of “plain” and cheekily asked her fans, “And don’t you think I know how to spell “P-L-A-N-E.”

Family Provides Update On Broadway Dancer Who Went Missing Three Months Ago

Zelig Williams, a beloved Broadway dancer, is still missing after disappearing three months ago. The dancer was first reported missing after leaving his mother’s house on Oct. 3, 2024, in his home state of South Carolina, per WIS 10. Twenty-four hours later, a deputy discovered Williams’ car abandoned in the Palmetto Trail Parking lot off Bluff Road with no trace of the entertainer.

Family members arranged official search parties throughout December 2024 for the dancer to no avail. On Thursday (Jan. 2), Williams’ cousin, Mieoki Corbett-Jacobs, posted an update on the search for Zelig, confirming that he hasn’t been found and shared that they believed Zelig’s disappearance was a result of something far more sinister.

“2025 is here and tomorrow will mark the 3rd month since Zelig Williams left his home heading out with a portfolio in his hand… possibly to drop it of or meet with someone briefly,” Mieoki Corbett-Jacobs typed on Facebook. “On behalf of Kathy Williams, Christine Mclaughlin Barber, Caroline Lewis Jones and our family we thank you for your unwavering support. That being said we want to provide some updates and understanding: The search will continue, but not in the areas that we’ve searched before (stay tuned for additional dates and locations in the next week or two), We do not believe that Zelig is in the water and we ABSOLUTELY believe that there is foul play related to his disappearance.”

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott previously held a news conference in the wake of Williams’ disappearance in October. Early in the investigation, Lott and his department stated that they were not ruling out foul play.
Additionally, around this time, the family stated that Zelig Williams could have possibly stopped taking his medication for his mental health around the time of his disappearance.

For those who may have information regarding Zelig Williams and his whereabouts, his family is urging the public to contact the Richland County Sheriff’s Department at (803) 576-3000 or Crime Stoppers at crimesc.com.

New Orleans Pelicans Star Zion Williamson Donates $100K To Support Bourbon Street Tragedy Victims
Zion Williamson, star forward for the New Orleans Pelicans, donated $100,000 to the Greater New Orleans Foundation’s Tragedy Fund to support victims of the New Year’s Day attack on Bourbon Street. Zion Williamson stated, “This isn’t just about money—but standing together and making sure no one feels alone.”

The attack left 14 dead and dozens injured after a truck driven by 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar plowed into a crowd. Jabbar was killed in a shootout with police.

The tragedy led to Bourbon Street’s temporary closure and the postponement of the Sugar Bowl, where Notre Dame later defeated Georgia 23-10.
Continued prayers to the victims of this senseless tragedy.

Zendaya Was ‘Devastated’ at 13 When BeyoncĂ© Didn’t Sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to Her at Concert

Zendaya learned a lesson the hard way at a BeyoncĂ© concert back when the Euphoria actress was 13.
While speaking to W as part of the publication’s best performances package, which went live Friday (Jan. 3), Zendaya revealed that she didn’t have many celebrity crushes as a tween — but she did “have a BeyoncĂ© poster on my wall, because I went to her concert for my 13th birthday,” she said.

The Challengers star went on to share a humbling memory from the show. “I was devastated that she didn’t sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to me, because I guess it was close to her birthday and she was singing to the audience,” Zendaya continued. “My dad was like, ‘Do you want me to put you on my shoulders?’ I was like, ‘No, that’s so embarrassing.'”

“Then, after, I was like, ‘Damn, I should have let him put me on his shoulders so she would’ve seen me,'” the Golden Globe winner added. “Thirteen-year-old me was very devastated that BeyoncĂ© didn’t sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to her.”
The “Break My Soul” singer may not have noticed 13-year-old Zendaya that day, but Bey certainly would in the future. In 2016, the Dune actress appeared alongside the 32-time Grammy winner in the latter’s Lemonade album film, and Bey’s mom, Tina Knowles, even said in April that Z reminds the matriarch of her famous eldest daughter.

In addition to the concert, Zendaya also opened up about another experience from her teens that she’s still a little salty about: coming in second place on season 16 of Dancing With the Stars. The then-16-year-old performer — whose dance partner was Val Chmerkovskiy — lost out to Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough in 2013, something which Zendaya said she’s “still harboring a little animosity.”

“I felt that loss,” she told W. “I was only 16 years old, and it was highly stressful. Being on live television every week? It’s so scary. I took it very seriously, which, in retrospect, I wish I didn’t. I wish I’d enjoyed it a little bit more and just was like, ‘Eh, whatever.’ You know what I mean? But I was stressing myself out. I really went through it on that.”

Angel Reese steps back from social media after fashion backlash
The intersection of athletics and social media scrutiny has claimed another victim as LSU basketball star Angel Reese deactivates her Instagram presence following intense criticism over her New Year’s Eve fashion choices. This development highlights the growing challenges athletes face in managing their public image while maintaining their mental well-being in an increasingly connected digital landscape. The incident has sparked widespread discussions about the role of social media in athletes’ lives and the unique pressures they face in today’s digital age.

Beyond the basketball court
Reese’s decision to step back from social media comes at a time when her athletic achievements should be the primary focus. As a standout player for LSU’s basketball program, her contributions to the sport have been remarkable, including leading her team to significant victories and establishing herself as one of college basketball’s most dynamic performers. Despite these accomplishments, conversations have shifted dramatically from her athletic prowess to her personal choices.

The timing of this controversy coincides with a crucial period in collegiate basketball, where athletes need to maintain peak performance and mental focus. Reese‘s track record of excellence on the court, including her pivotal role in LSU’s success, demonstrates her commitment to athletic excellence despite external pressures.

The weight of digital scrutiny
The pressure of constant public attention through social media platforms creates unique challenges for modern athletes. In Reese’s case, the New Year’s Eve outfit criticism escalated quickly across various platforms, demonstrating how rapidly public opinion can shift and impact an athlete’s digital presence. This phenomenon affects female athletes disproportionately, often facing heightened scrutiny about their appearance and personal choices compared to their male counterparts.

The immediacy and reach of social media platforms have transformed how athletes interact with fans and critics alike. What might have been localized commentary in the past can now become a national conversation within hours, creating additional pressure on athletes to manage their public image while maintaining their competitive edge.

A broader conversation in women’s sports
This incident illuminates a persistent pattern in women’s athletics where accomplishments on the court frequently take a backseat to discussions about appearance and personal choices. Professional female athletes across various sports face similar challenges:

Constant appearance-based commentary that detracts from athletic achievements
Disproportionate focus on personal life choices and fashion decisions
Uneven media coverage compared to male athletes in similar positions
Additional pressure to maintain specific public images while competing at high levels
Heightened scrutiny of social media presence and personal branding
The path forward

The sports community’s response to this situation demonstrates the need for a more balanced approach to athlete coverage. Athletic organizations, media outlets, and fans play crucial roles in shifting the narrative back to performance and achievement. This includes:

Supporting athletic excellence The focus should remain on Reese’s considerable talents and contributions to basketball. Her achievements at LSU deserve recognition and celebration independent of personal style choices. The emphasis needs to return to her game statistics, leadership on the court, and impact on team performance.

Promoting mental health awareness Athletes’ decisions to step back from social media platforms should be respected as necessary self-care measures in maintaining mental wellness and professional focus. The pressure to maintain a constant online presence while performing at elite levels can be overwhelming, making periodic digital detoxes essential for mental health maintenance.

Encouraging balanced coverage Media outlets and social platforms must work to provide more equitable coverage that emphasizes athletic achievement over personal appearance and lifestyle choices. This includes developing guidelines for responsible reporting and encouraging dialogue about athletes’ professional accomplishments.

Building a supportive community
The athletics community has an opportunity to demonstrate solidarity and support for athletes facing public scrutiny. Coaches, teammates, and fellow athletes have historically shown support for players in similar situations, understanding the unique pressures of maintaining a public presence while pursuing athletic excellence.

The LSU basketball program continues to stand behind Reese, recognizing her value to the team extends far beyond social media presence. As the season progresses, the focus should return to her on-court performance and contributions to the sport, setting a precedent for how the sports community handles similar situations in the future.

Tracee Ellis Ross Is Crowned As Hollywood Trailblazer By WWD Style Awards

Tracee Ellis Ross, the style savant, will be honored with a WWD Style Award—the Hollywood Trailblazer, to be exact. This is no surprise given the awardee’s knack for sophisticated personal style.
For decades Ross has been experimenting with her clothing and rediscovering herself style-wise. Her robust arsenal has led to fashionable moments that are distinct and key to why she’s one of the most innovative fashion connoisseurs of our time. As the daughter of the iconic artist Diana Ross, it’s clear that her fixation on style stems directly from her mother. However, Tracee has made a name for herself regarding her clothing choices throughout her lifetime.

This award pinpoints how self-expression has carried her throughout her acting career from Girlfriends and beyond. Whether in a fiery red Bottega Veneta set designed by Matthieu Blazy or a dreamy Marc Jacobs frock, Ross is regularly pushing herself to showcase her affinity for unique designs.

“For me, how I dress myself is really a form of expression, and it’s one of the ways that I wear my insides on my outside,” Ross told WWD. “It started as an armor, a way that I would feel protected, and now it’s just one of the ways I express myself and it brings me so much joy. I really feel like there’s an importance to how we express ourselves, particularly in the world that we’re living in. How I dress is one of the ways that I show up in the world and tell people how I want to be responded to,” she added. Ross’s win is a part of the inaugural WWD Style Awards which will also include a presentation and dinner on the evening of January 3 at the Four Seasons Hotel.

According to WWD, the presentation tied to the Golden Globes will “celebrate the fashion and beauty tastemakers, muses, legends and luminaries whose creativity, craft and style ignite the magic of the red carpet.”

Laverne Cox Leaving E!’s Red Carpet Coverage After 3 Years: ‘I’m So Incredibly Proud’
Laverne Cox is stepping away from E!’s red carpet coverage ahead of the 2025 Golden Globes.
“With an incredible amount of gratitude, I've decided not to return as host of #LiveFromE's red carpet coverage,” Cox, 52, wrote via Instagram on Thursday, January 2. “I'm so incredibly proud of the work we did over my three-year tenure. I'd like to express my sincere thanks to everyone at @nbcuniversal, @eentertainment and @denofthievestv for your incredible support.”

In her post, the Orange Is the New Black actress shared a video montage of clips featuring her one-on-one interviews from the Oscars, Emmys, Grammys and other award shows.
“These moments are a reminder to me of what an incredible privilege it has been to talk to some of the world's greatest artists about their work, navigating the pressures of success, etc,” she shared. “I'm so excited to keep growing, evolving and exploring great opportunities as an actress, artist, host and speaker. I hope you'll all continue to go with me on my evolving journey.”

Cox added that her next role will be in Amazon Prime’s comedy series Clean Slate premiering February 6.
In Hollywood, however, the show must go on. E! announced that this weekend’s Live From E!: Golden Globes will be cohosted by Access Hollywood's Zuri Hall and comedian Heather McMahan.

The pair are expected to interview several nominees as they step onto the red carpet.
Rachel Brosnahan and Laverne Cox. Brandon Hickman/E! Entertainment
“Oh we are so BACK baby!” McMahan, 37, wrote via Instagram on Monday, December 30. “Can’t wait to see you on the red carpet this Sunday for the 82nd Golden Globes! ✨ #goldenglobes #livefrome #redcarpet.”

During her time working on E!’s red carpet coverage, Cox became famous for asking actresses, “What story are you telling with your outfit tonight?”
The actress herself would also turn heads with her stunning — and often vintage — dresses.
When she took over from Giuliana Rancic in 2021, Cox shared just how excited she was to have the opportunity to interview the biggest stars in Hollywood.

“For many years I would wake up early on awards show days, get my snacks in place and watch E!’s coverage all day long,” she said in a statement at the time. “I dreamed of walking red carpets. … I can’t wait to get started while hopefully serving up fashion fantasies for the ages, honey.”

Judge Rules Diplo's Revenge Porn Accuser Must Reveal Her Identity

A federal judge in Los Angeles ruled a Jane Doe she must reveal her identity if she wants to pursue her revenge porn civil lawsuit against Diplo.
On Tuesday, Dec. 31, Judge MĂłnica RamĂrez Almadani ruled Diplo's accuser failed to legally show that she had to keep her identity a secret, and now she has to reveal who she is. The woman, who's going under "Jane Doe" in her lawsuit, said she had a consensual sexual relationship with Diplo between 2016 and 2023 while adding she permitted him to record their sexual encounters.

However, she later accused Diplo of sharing the recorded content on Snapchat. Diplo has since denied the allegations and argued that his accuser must reveal her name, with his lawyers stating he "cannot adequately confront his accuser without knowing her identity."

According to a report by Billboard, Judge Almadani stated anonymity can only be granted "for clear-cut, high-risk situations" and didn't believe the allegations brought against Diplo by his accuser "qualify under that standard."
"The court appreciates that plaintiff's allegations in her complaint are sensitive and of a highly personal nature and that she may face some public scrutiny," Judge Almadani wrote. "However, absent a demonstrated need for anonymity, there is a prevailing public interest in open judicial proceedings."

In response to Judge Almadani's ruling, the accuser's attorneys told Billboard, "The imbalance of power in a situation like this is startling and should not be underestimated by the public, or by the courts. In the digital age, being compelled to disclose one's name in such proceedings risks permanently linking a survivor to their trauma."

Heat suspend Jimmy Butler 7 games after contentious news conference, say they will listen to trade offers
The Jimmy Butler situation isn't getting much better in Miami. The Miami Heat announced Friday they have suspended the six-time All-Star for "multiple instances of conduct detrimental to the team" over the course of the season, a day after he held a surreal news conference in which he loudly signaled he wants to be traded. While taking action against Butler's conduct, they also added they will listen to trade offers for him.

The Heat's full statement:
We have suspended Jimmy Butler for seven games for multiple instances of conduct detrimental to the team over the course of the season and particularly the last several weeks.

Through his actions and statements, he has shown he no longer wants to be part of this team. Jimmy Butler and his representative have indicated that they wish to be traded, therefore, we will listen to offers
Soon after the news broke, the National Basketball Players Association released a statement calling the discipline "excessive and inappropriate" and pledged to file a grievance challenging it. The grievance process likely wouldn't stop Butler's suspension, but it could help recoup the millions in salary he's losing due to the unpaid suspension

The previous day, Butler made his intentions to leave Miami very clear in a postgame news conference. After scoring only nine points in his second game back from a five-game absence due to what was called an illness, Butler lambasted his current role with the team and didn't hold back when asked what he wants to happen:

"What do I want to see happen? I want to see me get my joy back from playing basketball and wherever that may be, we'll find out pretty soon. I want to get my joy back. I'm happy here off the court, but I want to be back to somewhat dominant, I want to hoop and I want to help this team win. Right now, I'm not doing that."

When asked if he believes he can get that joy back in Miami, he responded with only two words: "Probably not."
The suspension comes after months of tensions between Butler and the Heat's leadership, most notably team president Pat Riley.
The first major crack appeared after the Heat were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs against the Boston Celtics. Butler missed that entire series with a knee injury, then implied the team would have won with him.

In response, Riley publicly told Butler to "keep your mouth shut." This was also after Riley announced the team wouldn't extend Butler's contract beyond this season.
More recently, there was a report on Christmas that Butler would prefer a trade from the Heat before the deadline in February, though he hadn't made a formal request. Riley strongly rejected the idea, plainly stating, "We are not trading Jimmy Butler" in a statement. Butler didn't seem to agree, as he basically shrugged when asked if he wants to remain with the Heat for the rest of the season. And then, two days later, he was telling the entire basketball world he has no joy for the game and doesn't think it can be fixed in Miami.

This is nowhere close to Butler's first messy break-up with a team, and it's hard to see no teams showing interest in picking up a player with his two-way talent. The NBA trade deadline is Feb. 6.

Jeff Baena: Filmmaker husband of actress Aubrey Plaza took his own life, medical examiner rules

The filmmaker husband of US actress Aubrey Plaza took his own life, a medical examiner has ruled.
Jeff Baena, 47, was pronounced dead at 10.39am on Friday at a home near the Hollywood Hills and Los Feliz areas of Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles County medical examiner said his body will be released to his family.
The director and screenwriter worked with Parks And Recreation star Plaza, 40, on 2014 horror film Life After Beth and 2017 historical comedy The Little Hours.
The couple had been in a relationship since about 2011 and married in 2021.
Previously Plaza told The Ellen DeGeneres Show she and Baena "got a little bored one night" during the COVID pandemic and decided to wed after celebrating their 10th anniversary.

She said after finding a wedding officiant online to perform the ceremony in their garden, she "created a very quick love altar in our yard" where they married.

Baena wrote 2020 thriller Horse Girl, starring Alison Brie, and 2022 dark comedy Spin Me Round, both of which he also directed.
He also co-wrote the 2004 comedy I Heart Huckabees alongside director David O Russell, which boasted a stacked cast that included Jude Law, Jason Schwartzman, Dustin Hoffman, Naomi Watts, Lily Tomlin and Mark Wahlberg.

Baena created the anthology comedy series Cinema Toast, which had an episode directed by Plaza and another starring Community actress Brie.

On X, Hollywood actor and comedian Marc Maron wrote: "Very sad about the tragic loss of a true artist and sweet guy."
Sundance Film Festival, where Baena's directorial debut Life After Beth premiered in 2014, wrote: "We extend our heartfelt thanks to Jeff Baena for sharing his stories and contributing to the lasting memories we've built together.

"Jeff, we'll miss your wit, humour, and daring vision. Rest in peace, friend."
Plaza had been announced as a presenter at Sunday's Golden Globes ceremony earlier this week before her husband's death.
She was nominated for a Golden Globe in 2023 for her role in the second series of HBO dark comedy White Lotus and is also known for Disney+ series Agatha All Along, and films including Megalopolis, My Old Ass, Ingrid Goes West, Dirty Grandpa and Emily The Criminal.

Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) confirmed it attended the residence where Baena died and said a coroner will lead the investigation.

Kirk Franklin defends working on rap records with Will Smith and GloRilla
Kirk Franklin took a reflective look back at some of his most viral moments of 2024 in a new video posted to his YouTube channel on Dec. 30. In an honest and transparent moment, the gospel artist acknowledged that his fusion with Hip Hop struck a nerve with fans who criticized some of his collaborations deemed too secular for the saved and righteous.

He first noted that, “There were a lot of questions and controversy about the Will Smith performance this year [2024] at the BET Awards.” Franklin joined Smith for the live performance of “You Can Make It” featuring Chandler Moore and Sunday Service Choir at the awards show in June. The single, whose theme is redemption and perseverance, marked Smith’s return to music following a 19-year break. It also saw the movie star chart a Phoenix rising from the ashes-inspired comeback amid blowback from his 2022 Oscar controversy when he slapped Chris Rock during the live telecast.

At times, a portion of the stage was surrounded by a ring of fire and backlit with red lighting. Franklin joined Smith halfway through the song with an encouraging word about tough times not being everlasting.
The NAACP Image Award winner also acknowledged the backlash he received for working with GloRilla on the track “RAIN ON ME” with Kierra Sheard, Maverick City Music, and Moore. “There’s questions and controversy about me working with Miss GloRilla and her lyrics and are they conducive to the Christian community,” he said.

Adding, “I think that when we talk about working with people that do not live in the [gospel] ecosystem that we are accustomed to, it is very difficult to find their hearts and discover what their motives are from a distance. We have to be close.”
In his defense, he further explained that his collaboration is not an act of abandoning his faith. “When we’re invited into their world, it’s very important that we don’t have to compromise our messaging … We’ve gotta be able to do life with people so that they can get the residue of the message that we’re trying to share.”

In the past, Franklin faced similar criticism when he worked with Kanye West on “Ultralight Beam” from the rapper’s album The Life of Pablo, “Mercy” with Trip Lee and “We Win” with Lil Baby. In the 2024 recap video, he shared, “Whenever I’m invited, like I have my entire career, I try to do my best, and I may fail at times, but my goal is to make sure that the church does not just exist within the walls but that it exists in the world.”

Vanessa Williams to Miss “Devil Wears Prada” Performances After Death of Beloved Mom

Vanessa Williams is taking time off from her Devil Wears Prada performances in London following the death of her mother, Helen Louise Williams.
Vanessa, 61, and her family wrote that Helen died on Dec. 28 of complications of acute liver failure, per the obituary. She was 85.
The actress, who is currently portraying Miranda Priestly in the West End musical adaptation of The Devil Wears Prada, will take a brief break from work before returning on Thursday, Jan. 16, the show announced on Instagram on Friday, Jan. 3. Debbie Kurup will play the role of Miranda Priestly during Williams' absence.

Williams' mother, a music teacher, traveled overseas for the Sunday, Dec. 1 opening night of The Devil Wears Prada.
The trip was arranged “to celebrate her 85th birthday party surrounded by 150 of her family and friends,” the obituary said. “During her visit she suffered a major decline in health which ended her life.”

Helen was born on Dec. 8, 1939, in Buffalo, N.Y., and became the youngest Black student at the State University of New York at Fredonia when she was 16. She worked as a music teacher for over 40 years in the Ossining and Manhattanville School Districts and was a professor at Manhattanville College. She retired in 1996.
Following Helen’s death, several people have posted tributes, including Sasha Fox, Williams' daughter with former NBA player Rick Fox.

“On December 28th, the world lost a powerhouse, dynamo and force of nature packed into a 5ft frame. Our mom, Helen Williams, aka Gaga to many, took her final bow in London 20 days after celebrating her 85th birthday surrounded by family and friends," Williams wrote in a Jan. 2 tribute. "It’s impossible to describe all she meant to everyone because each person saw a different facet of her. Loyal friend to many, icy stares to a chosen few. We will miss it all.”
Fox posted an Instagram carousel of photos of her grandmother from different periods in her life. “RIP Gaga,” she simply captioned the post.

The 24-year-old included several images of Helen, from her elementary school days to a higher education graduation. She added moments of Helen as a young girl behind the piano, as well as photos of her holding infant Williams in her arms. Sasha also included photos of her grandmother and late grandfather, Milton Augustine Williams Jr., on their wedding day and in their home.
Helen is also survived by her son, Chris, and Williams' three older children, Melanie, 37, Jillian, 35, and Devin, 31, whom Vanessa shares with her first husband, Ramon Hervey II.

Forest Whitaker Returns: ‘Godfather of Harlem’ Season 4 Focuses on Gang Warfare and Civil Rights

With the release of the latest first-look photos from the series, excitement among fans continues to build for what promises to be another gripping chapter in the life and times of the iconic gangster Bumpy Johnson, portrayed by Forest Whitaker.
Since its debut on September 29, 2019, “Godfather of Harlem” has captured audiences with its intense portrayal of race, identity, and power dynamics in 1960s America. Created by Chris Brancato and Paul Eckstein, the series chronicles Bumpy Johnson’s tumultuous return to Harlem after a decade-long prison sentence. Faced with the threat of the Italian mob and a rapidly changing political landscape, Bumpy’s quest to reclaim his place is as compelling as ever.

In Season 4, Bumpy’s tumultuous war against New York’s Mafia families continues. Still, this time, he faces an emerging rival: the notorious Black gangster Frank Lucas, played by fan-favorite Rome Flynn. Flynn’s addition to the cast has generated considerable excitement, as he embodies the legendary figure known for his savvy and ruthless approach to crime.

This season also delves deeper into social issues, exploring Bumpy’s daughter, Elise’s connection with the Black Panthers following the tragic assassination of Malcolm X, portrayed by Jason Alan Carvell. The narrative promises to intertwine personal and political conflicts, making it a rich tapestry of drama and history.
Alongside Whitaker, the series features a talented ensemble cast, including Ilfenesh Hadera, Antoinette Crowe-Legacy, and Demi Singleton. Notably, Michael Benjamin Washington takes on the role of celebrated writer and activist James Baldwin, bringing depth to the series through Baldwin’s critical insights on race and identity. Devin Kessler steps into the role of Afeni Shakur, Tupac’s mother, adding another cultural significance to the already diverse cast.

Swizz Beatz is returning to the series as an executive producer of the soundtrack, ensuring that Season 4 maintains its dynamic musical landscape, crucial to the narrative’s atmosphere.

“Godfather of Harlem” has not only captivated audiences but also garnered critical acclaim, with a 92% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes for its first season and a Metacritic score of 72, indicating a generally favorable reception.
The blend of well-crafted storytelling, historical context, and powerful performances has solidified its place as a leading series in the crime drama genre.

With the fourth season representing a continuation of Bumpy Johnson’s story amidst Harlem’s sociopolitical upheaval, viewers can expect intense drama, complex character arcs, and a narrative that reflects the ongoing struggles for power and justice. As the premiere date draws nearer, fans are left eagerly anticipating the twists and turns that await them in the vibrant and dangerous world of “Godfather of Harlem.”

Honduran President Xiomara Castro Threatens to Expel U.S. Troops Over Trump’s Mass Deportation Plans
Earlier this week, Castro issued a stark warning to the president-elect, threatening to bar U.S. troops from Honduras if his mass expulsion plans proceed.
“Faced with a hostile attitude of mass expulsion of our brothers, we would have to consider a change of our cooperation policies with the United States, especially in the military realm,” Castro said in a televised speech.
For decades, U.S. troops have been stationed at the Soto Cano air base in Comayagua, working to curb narcotics trafficking. Castro suggested that a Republican push to remove Latino immigrants would force the end of this military partnership. Trump, who has long promised mass deportations, has claimed that his policies will curb illegal immigration.

Critics of both leaders’ positions have emerged. Trump’s controversial proposals, including challenges to birthright citizenship and the detention of children, have drawn scrutiny. Meanwhile, Castro’s political opponents warned that removing U.S. troops could leave Honduras vulnerable.

“She knows we don’t have the ability to threaten the United States…the damages it would cause Honduras would be terrible,” said Olban Valladares, an analyst.
