How does a superstar on the cusp of 30 take on The Odyssey and two other soon-to-be-released projects? By keeping it grounded.

How does a superstar on the cusp of 30 take on The Odyssey and two other soon-to-be-released projects? By keeping it grounded.
On nearing 30 and her character Athena in The Odyssey: “I think I do have wisdom to offer, but I also do still feel like a f***ing kid. Like what the f**k, I’m about to be 30? I still feel like a child inside,” she says. Athena is also the goddess of war, and as a creative person putting out art while the United States wages war in the Middle East, Zendaya sees a need for greater empathy. “There’s a real heaviness, and a real responsibility to that. How much we lean into dehumanizing other people—that breaks my heart, that’s something I can’t get down with. Because I just feel we have a tendency to not see other people as human beings worthy of safety, of joy, of the same things that we’re also worthy of,” she says.

On balancing multiple projects at once: “I remember being on set for Euphoria; it was a night shoot at a ranch. I was so tired, but I was also learning my Chakobsa lines for Dune. And then I started writing out my lines to memorize for that quick turnaround trip I was going to make to Iceland [for The Odyssey],” she says. “It’s not like I have a lot of lines in The Odyssey, but I was working with Christopher Nolan! The most embarrassing thing in life would be messing up my lines, which did happen once.”
On working with Tom Holland on both The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day: They didn’t share scenes on the first film, so she was able to watch him on set. “I could have cried, I was so proud,” she says. “And then Spider-Man was a dream; I get to go to work every day with my best friend, the person that I love. We bring our dogs to work; it’s like a family affair. We grew up on those movies! It’s like coming home.”
On confirming rumors she and Tom Holland are married: (And she has a gold band on her ring finger, but when asked if she can confirm the rumors that she and partner Tom Holland are married, she says: “No, I’m not going to do that. They’re always searching for something”—meaning the internet, one presumes.)

On The Drama and expanding the roles available to Black women on screen: “I am drawn to complicated characters who I have to earn the audience’s empathy and trust for,” she says. She saw a personal challenge in the project [The Drama]. “I want to expand the roles someone like me is allowed to do, or can do. As a Black woman, what I can do as an actress,” she adds. And she appreciated how the plague of school shootings in this country is handled in the film. “It’s sick. Sometimes when reality feels so disturbing, the only way to deal with it in an artistic way is through humor,” she says.

#RHOA: Kim Zolciak’s Boyfriend Denies Being 'RHOA' Alum's Sugar Daddy
Kim Zolciak’s boyfriend, Kyle Mowitz, denies spending like crazy on his 'Real Housewife' girlfriend, despite his estranged wife’s claims ... TMZ has learned.
Kyle scoffed at his ex Jillian Greene’s claims during their bitter divorce battle, according to court docs obtained by TMZ that deny the “repeated accusation” by Jillian that Kyle's “spending is out of control and that he fails to pay the expenses for his family and children.”
The docs reiterate that it is "plainly false to state that [Kyle] uses his money primarily to pay for his own lifestyle and his girlfriend’s lifestyle.”
Kyle claims Jillian is the one racking up debt on her credit cards, which he says he pays for ... adding that his ex lives large and recently dropped $2,300 on a lavish hotel room.
As TMZ first reported, Jillian, who believes Kyle has over $100 million in a trust, says he is paying Kim’s rent, legal fees, and bills, and even providing her with loans.
Jillian said she feared Kyle’s “out of control” spending on Kim could cause Kyle’s fortune to dwindle … leaving less for her when it comes time to divide their assets.
Jillian is asking the court for an injunction to block him from spending substantial sums on his extravagant lifestyle, which includes luxury cars, vacations, and Kim, whom she labeled his “potential future wife.”
As TMZ previously reported, Jillian dragged Kim into her divorce from Kyle because she believed he was using his money to pay the former 'RHOA' star's bills ... who was recently deposed as part of the divorce.

Lupita Nyong’o Responds to Critiques of Her Casting in ‘The Odyssey’
Lupita Nyong’o is addressing criticism surrounding her role in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film “The Odyssey,” pushing back against online commentary questioning her casting as Helen of Troy.
In recent interviews, Nyong’o defended the project’s creative direction and rejected claims that she was miscast in the mythological epic. The actor said the film reflects a modern and global perspective on storytelling.
“This is a mythological story,” Nyong’o said in comments published this week. “Our cast is representative of the world.”
The backlash began after casting details for The Odyssey circulated online. Some critics argued that Helen of Troy, a figure from Greek mythology often associated with traditional European imagery, should not be portrayed by Nyong’o.
Others accused director Christopher Nolan of making politically motivated casting decisions. Social media users, including several conservative commentators, criticized the film before footage or promotional material had been released.
Nyong’o, however, appeared unfazed by the criticism.
“You can’t perform beauty,” she said while discussing the role. “Beauty is not something that can be acted.”
Nolan reportedly selected Nyong’o for the role because of her emotional depth and screen presence. The filmmaker praised her poise and discipline while discussing the ensemble cast in recent promotional interviews.
The film features a large cast that includes Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Tom Holland and Robert Pattinson. Universal Pictures plans to release the film in July 2026.
The adaptation is based on Homer’s ancient Greek epic poem chronicling Odysseus’ journey home following the Trojan War. Nolan’s version reportedly blends mythology with large-scale practical filmmaking, a style that has become central to his recent work.
Nyong’o also spoke broadly about representation in Hollywood. She said opportunities for Black actresses remain limited in certain genres, despite progress across the industry.
Following her Academy Award-winning performance in “12 Years a Slave,” Nyong’o said many offers she received centered on stories involving trauma or enslavement. She described that trend as disappointing, though unsurprising.
The controversy surrounding “The Odyssey” arrives during a wider debate over representation in film and television. Studios increasingly cast diverse actors in reimagined versions of historical or fictional stories, often generating heated online reactions.
Supporters of Nyong’o defended the actor across social media this week. Several entertainers and commentators argued that mythology allows room for reinterpretation and artistic freedom.
Nyong’o suggested she does not intend to spend energy responding to every criticism aimed at the project.
“There will always be opinions,” she said. “I’m focused on the work itself.”

Cardi B has initiated a federal lawsuit against Cheickna Kebe, husband of Tasha K, alleging a deliberate scheme to hide assets and avoid paying a $4 million defamation judgment awarded to her in a previous court case.
The legal conflict traces back to 2019 when Cardi B sued over false accusations concerning her health, drug use, and personal life. In January 2022, a jury ruled in her favor, granting $1.25 million in compensatory damages and $250,000 for medical costs. Additional punitive damages and attorneys' fees increased the total to over $4 million. The Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the ruling in March 2023, closing off any further appeals for Tasha K.
In the recent court filing, Cardi B's legal team claims that Tasha K and Cheickna Kebe orchestrated a "personal income and asset diversion scheme" designed to shield assets from collection efforts. The lawsuit specifically cites fraudulent transfers as the central issue.
The complaint details several transactions, including the transfer of Tasha K's Georgia property into her husband's name about one month after the defamation judgment was issued. It also mentions the dissolution of Ki Studios after it was stripped of assets and income sources, rendering it a "judgment proof shell."
Further allegations include income and earnings being funneled through Yelling Entertainment, a company controlled by Cheickna Kebe, with accounts and financial structures set up to block garnishment by Cardi B. The 72-page lawsuit outlines multiple counts of fraudulent transfer, arguing these moves were intended to delay and defraud Cardi B from collecting the awarded damages.
In 2025, Tasha K filed for bankruptcy and arranged a payment plan to pay $1.2 million over five years; however, this arrangement did not satisfy the entire judgment. Additionally, in April 2026, Cardi B's legal team accused Tasha K of breaching a nondisparagement clause at least 25 times via social media platforms.
This ongoing legal battle highlights the complexities of enforcing judgments when defendants allegedly attempt to conceal assets and evade financial responsibilities through strategic transfers and corporate restructuring.

Chris Brown Awarded Honorary PhD in Visual and Performing Arts
Chris Brown has officially added a doctorate to his résumé after receiving an honorary Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Visual & Performing Arts from Harvest Christian University.
Photos shared online showed Brown dressed in ceremonial academic regalia while accepting the honor during a graduation-style presentation hosted by the university. Another image showed the official diploma, which recognized the singer for meeting the requirements for the honorary distinction in Visual & Performing Arts.
According to the certificate, the degree was awarded on May 23, 2026, with the university honoring Brown for his longstanding impact on music, entertainment, and performance culture.
Harvest Christian University presented the recognition as a celebration of Brown’s extensive contributions to the entertainment industry, where he has spent nearly two decades as one of R&B’s most commercially successful and influential artists.
Since breaking onto the scene in the mid-2000s, Brown has built a catalog filled with chart-topping singles, platinum albums, and global tours while also expanding into dance, fashion, visual art, and directing.
The honorary degree specifically highlighted Brown’s work within visual and performing arts, areas that have remained central to his career from elaborate music videos to live stage productions.
The recognition also arrives during another strong commercial moment for Brown. His latest album, Brown, recently debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200, marking his 13th top-10 project on the chart. The 27-track release moved roughly 65,000 equivalent album units during its opening week, driven largely by streaming, which generated more than 60 million on-demand streams.
Despite strong support from fans, the album has received mixed critical feedback. One particularly harsh Pitchfork review drew online backlash from Brown supporters as well as fellow R&B singer Tank. Earlier this month, Brown publicly thanked his fanbase while also acknowledging some of the criticism surrounding the project.

Idris Elba Claims He Was Never ‘In the Race’ to Be the Next James Bond
Idris Elba is clearing up the James Bond rumors once and for all.
The 53-year-old actor is currently promoting his new movie Masters of the Universe and spoke to People on Monday (May 18) during the Los Angeles premiere.
Asked how he felt about his name consistently getting “thrown out” during the 007 discussions, Idris chose that moment to make a clarification.
“My name’s not getting thrown out, no way,” Idris replied. “They’re going younger. And I wish them all the luck of the world. I can’t wait — it’s going to be amazing.”
“I’m honestly not in the race ever. I wasn’t in the race in the first place,” he added.
The Wire star has talked about the Bond rumors in the past, like when he visited the Smartless podcast co-hosted by Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, and Sean Hayes in 2023.
At the time, he explained what made him go from “super complimented” by the rumors to feeling a sense of frustration.
“We’re all actors and we understand that that role is one of those sort of coveted types. It’s like being named Sexiest Man,” he said.
“Essentially, it was a huge compliment that every corner of the world — except for some corners, which we will not talk about — were really happy about the idea that I could be considered,” Idris explained. “Those that weren’t happy about the idea made the whole thing disgusting and off-putting, because it became about race. It became about nonsense, and I got the brunt of it.”

What makes the situation even more shocking is that the man was identified as 25-year-old Daniel Ray Leonard, Sugar Ray’s youngest child. Authorities say the arrest is tied to an alleged violation of a restraining order, though it’s still unclear whether that order was filed by Sugar Ray himself or someone else at the residence.

Sugar Ray Leonard’s adult son ended up in police custody following a tense situation at the boxing legend’s home.

‘Sinners’ Is Coming to Universal Halloween Horror Nights 2026
Ryan Coogler’s Oscar-winning vampire thriller “Sinners” is heading to Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights, and the experience promises to go far beyond anything the annual event has attempted before.
Universal has confirmed that “Sinners”-themed haunted houses will open at both Universal Studios Florida and Universal Studios Hollywood as part of HHN’s 35th edition, according to EW.
The Florida location kicks things off on Aug. 28, with the Hollywood park following on Sept. 3. Both houses are set in the film’s iconic 1930s juke joint at the center of the film, as vampire Remmick (Jack O’Connell) and his crew close in. Familiar faces from the film will appear throughout, including Sammie (Miles Caton), Mary (Hailee Steinfeld), Annie (Wunmi Mosaku), Pearline (Jayme Lawson), and Cornbread (Omar Benson Miller), all caught up in the larger battle between twin brothers Smoke and Stack, both played by Michael B. Jordan.
“We are reinventing the haunted house and creating new ways to scare our guests that we’ve never attempted,” John Murdy, executive producer of HHN Hollywood, said, calling the result “a truly terrifying and fully immersive” experience.
Mike Aiello, senior director of entertainment and creative development at Universal Orlando Resort, said the film was a seamless match for the event. “It’s rare for a film to fully satisfy hardcore horror fans while also inviting new audiences into the genre, and that’s exactly what Sinners does. Its world, characters and intensity will translate into a relentless haunted house,” he said.
Producers Ryan and Zinzi Coogler and Sev Ohanian said the collaboration opens a new door for fans. “Partnering with Halloween Horror Nights gives fans the chance to step even deeper into the world of the film, to feel the music, the atmosphere and the tension all around them,” they said in a joint statement.
“Sinners” earned $370 million at the global box office following its April 2025 release and made Oscar history with 16 nominations, taking home four wins including Best Actor for Jordan and Best Original Screenplay for Ryan Coogler.
Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando gets underway on select nights starting Aug. 28 and runs through Nov. 1, while the Hollywood edition launches on select nights beginning Sept. 3.

Giants Quarterback Jaxson Dart Supports Trump at Rally, Teammate Abdul Carter Calls Him Out

Jaxson Dart, the starting quarterback for the New York Giants, introduced Donald Trump at a rally in Suffern, New York this week…and there have been a ton of mixed reactions to this decision.
What did Jaxson Dart say about Donald Trump?
On Friday (May 22), the 23-year-old QB got on stage at the rally, held for rally for Republican Rep. Mike Lawler, and said, “Big Blue nation, it’s a pleasure to be here. What an honor, what a privilege it is to be here and, without further ado, I’m grateful, I’m honored, I’m pleasured to introduce the 45th and 47th president of the United States of America, President Donald J. Trump.”
In response, Trump said, “I want to thank Jaxson Dart. This is going to be a future Hall of Famer in my book. Thank you, thank you Jaxson. Lot of talent.”
He mentioned Jaxson was a “beautiful guy” with “legs like tree trunks.”
Jaxson’s teammate Abdul Carter did not seem to appreciate the QB’s decision
After seeing a video of the quarterback introducing Trump, Jaxson‘s own teammate, defensive star Abdul Carter, posted on X, “thought this sh!t was AI, what we doing man.”
Many NFL players don’t tend to talk about politics as it can create a huge distraction for the team. For example, Tom Brady faced years of questions and rumors over potential associations with Trump. Trump claimed Tom voted for him, while his wife at the time, Gisele Bundchen, said otherwise.

New Jersey Man Arrested After Reportedly Racially Charged Confrontation Posted on TikTok
A New Jersey man is facing criminal charges after a heated confrontation captured on video spread rapidly across TikTok and other social media platforms this week.
Authorities in Mount Laurel said 40-year-old Thomas Diiorio was arrested following the incident, which took place May 18 on Saxony Drive. Police charged him with harassment and bias intimidation after reviewing the encounter and interviewing those involved.
The case gained widespread attention after footage of the dispute accumulated more than one million views online. In the video, a woman can be seen standing near parked vehicles while holding her phone to her ear as a man wearing green clothing shouts at her.
During the exchange, the man is heard yelling, “Get the f*** out of here. Go! Get in your car,” while the woman asks nearby witnesses to contact police.
According to court documents obtained by NBC10’s Siobhan McGirl, investigators said Diiorio used the phrase “you people” while confronting the woman. Police documents state that when officers later questioned him about the comment, Diiorio allegedly admitted he was “referring to Black people because he never seems to have these problems with white people.”
Police said officers responded to the scene around 6:26 p.m. and separated the two individuals after both accused the other of wrongdoing during a dispute involving a juvenile.
Mount Laurel Mayor Stephen Steglik later praised law enforcement for moving quickly after the video surfaced publicly.
“Great work by the Mount Laurel Police Department for handling this situation swiftly and professionally. They wasted no time in contacting the victim and making sure the man in the video was apprehended. To put it simply: If you’re going to be a vile, hate filled lunatic, do it somewhere else – not in Mount Laurel!” Steglik said in a statement.
