The Daily Buzz For July 2

LeBron graces Sports Illustrated cover for 20th time
LeBron James' final jump shot of The NBA Finals for the Miami Heat left him thinking about Michael Jordan.
James told Sports Illustrated for a story released Wednesday that he spent time during this year's title series watching Jordan's iconic, title-clinching shot for the Chicago Bulls against the Utah Jazz in the 1998 finals. So when James made a jumper with 27.9 seconds left in Game 7 of this year's title series against the San Antonio Spurs, his thoughts turned to that Jordan shot.

"I know it wasn't the magnitude of MJ hitting that shot in `98, but I definitely thought about him," James said. "It was an MJ moment."
He then paused for a moment, before adding, "It was an LJ moment."

James is on this week's SI cover, the 20th time he has appeared on the front of the magazine. The image is of him gazing down at the Larry O'Brien Trophy, with his reflection visible off the top of the gold ball.
James is often compared to Jordan, and the debate has raged for years about which NBA superstar is better. James has said many times that it's humbling to be in that conversation, and tweeted back in February, "I'm not MJ, I'm LJ."
He watched Game 6 of the 1998 Bulls-Jazz series in his hotel room in San Antonio during this year's finals, up to the moment where Jordan posed after making the shot that sealed Chicago's sixth championship.
James' jumper against the Spurs came with no pose, but it was enormous for the Heat. It gave Miami a 92-88 lead, and the Spurs didn't score again.

James told the magazine that when he woke up the day after Game 7, he began to realize how much of a physical toll the series took on him, and how many injuries he was playing through.
"I felt all these nicks and bruises and little injuries I didn't know I had," James said. "My back, my hamstring, my ankle, both my elbows, they were all aching. I guess I just didn't pay attention to them."

He also discussed the promises that Heat coach Erik Spoelstra had the team make to one another, in the form of contracts that would remind everyone what they were tasked with during the postseason. James took his pact extremely seriously, using his formal signature -- not his scrawled autograph -- to seal his deal.

"I wrote out LeBron James like it was a check," James said.
The story also gives some detail about Miami's 27-game winning streak, which began on Super Bowl Sunday, a day the Heat spent in Toronto for a day game against the Raptors. The plane Miami uses for its charter flights is not equipped with live television, and the original travel plan for that day had the team scheduled to be in the air during the Baltimore-San Francisco game for the NFL title.
James wanted the team to remain in Toronto for a few hours to see the Super Bowl, and the team arranged to make that happen. It turned out to be one of the most important team-bonding moments of the season, Heat forward Shane Battier said.
"We were always close, but that took it to another level," Battier said. "I believe that night was the impetus for the streak."
James also addresses his future in the SI piece. He told reporters Tuesday that he will not start really thinking about the chance to be a free agent in the summer of 2014 until next season ends, and reiterated that stance with the magazine.

"I'm a totally different person on the court, off the court and everywhere in between," James said. "I know it will come up, but it's not going to come up until it's at that point."

Will.i.am Sues Pharrell Over "I Am Other" Brand
Hoping to protect his identity in the entertainment industry, Will.i.am is suing Pharrell over his use of the phrase, "I am."
According to legal documents obtained by Rolling Stones, the Black Eyed Peas member claims that he owns the copyright to the words "i am," and doesn't want them used in a way that could cause mixed signals to fans or anyone else.
The "Fall Down" rapper explains that Pharrell's creative brand logo of "i am Other" is "confusingly similar" to that of his own name and logo, and is afraid that "the registration of the mark... is likely to dilute the I AM mark and the WILL.I.AM mark."

In a statement following news of the lawsuit, Williams explained he was "disappointed that Will, a fellow artist, would file a case against me," adding, "I am someone who likes to talk things out and, in fact, I attempted to do just that on many occasions. I am surprised in how this is being handled and I am confident that Will's trademark claims will ultimately be found to be as meritless and ridiculous as I do."

The Truth About Scaff Beezy & Nicki Minaj Relationship
Nicki Minaj and her side kick, Scaff Beezy, have been together for quite some time. The two were together from before Nicki Minaj became famous...although the two have been on and off again for quite some time now. Nothing is perfect and no relationship is either and that is the case when it comes to Scaff Beezy and Nicki Minaj. But how far would one go to keep the one who knows the most about her close?
They say its the ones closest to you that will hurt you the most and that may very well be the case with Scaff Beezy and Nicki Minaj "allegedly". Did you know that before Nicki Minaj became famous she "allegedly" cheated on Scaff Beezy with a local drug dealer dude who got her pregnant?

So could Scaff Beezy have been holding onto some anger towards Nicki? Some say yes and even accuse Scaff Beezy of being the person responsible for exposing the realness behind Nicki Minaj's true body shape.

2 Chainz Stolen Bank Card and Drivers License Posted On Instagram
So a couple weeks ago 2 Chainz got robbed at gunpoint in the Bay Area and when the story broke, he denied that it ever happened even though a video surfaced…. Well I guess the people who robbed him posted his information on instagram to prove that he indeed get robbed…  Stating in the caption ” That N***A 2 Chainz said he never got robbed in the Bay!”
They posted his whole bank card information, which I am sure he has a new by now, but people are ruthless and they are taunting this guy. He is one old looking 35 year old seriously. To the guy who posted the license… He deserves to be beat for many reasons, but to top it all off… If you were going to post something like this, why wouldn’t you at least block out his address? Disgusting.
2 Chainz is a fool trying to deny this ever happened in the first place. All of his business put on blast by the thieves, not to mention his behind is on video running like he saw the Holy Ghost..

Mary Mary: Erica and Tina Campbell’s Father Dies Of Cancer
Very sad news for Erica Atkins-Campbell and Trecina “Tina” Atkins-Campbell of gospel group, ‘Mary Mary’. Last week, they lost their father, Eddie Atkins Jr., to cancer.

The duo confirmed the news on twitter:
Our Dad was a great man, but he’s with Jesus now he taught us how to pray & trust God. Our hearts are heavy but we can rejoice knowing our father knew we loved him. RIP Elder Eddie A. Atkins Jr. Rest in the arms of Jesus Daddy.

Tina and Erica have expressed heartfelt thanks to fans for reaching out to them with prayers of support.
The Campbell sisters shared in a public message on Sunday:
Erica and Tina Campbell (Mary Mary) would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all who have reached out to them during this difficult time. The ladies have been overwhelmed by the love and support of their peers, colleagues, fans, and friends and want to share the below message with you:
"Our dad was a powerful man. Our family had it's challenges but our love superseded it all. We had the opportunity to profess our love for our father. We were able to tell him how much we loved him, valued him, and how much life had helped us to understand the things that we couldn't for many years. Our dad was a man of immense physical and spiritual strength. He always covered us in prayer. He warned us when hardships were coming, taught us how to pray through, fight on, and overcome life's challenges. What better gift can a man give his family. Our family prayed and thanked God for our dad's life and healing on Monday night and God chose to give him the ultimate healing on Tuesday afternoon, which was a transfer from life on earth to life in Heaven. God sent him out better than we ever could've imagine and for that, we will be forever grateful. We love our daddy dearly, respect him highly, and will remember him always."
- Tina and Erica Campbell.

The award-winning singers publicly acknowledged their father's death last week after it was revealed that Atkins Jr. had died on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, in Los Angeles.
Atkins Jr., who had married and divorced the sisters' mother, Thomasina "Honey" Atkins, three times, had appeared on their reality television show on Wetv. He has been described as "a community leader (and) youth minister" and credited with laying the foundation for Erica and Tina Campbell's "broad reaching musical platform that allows them to deliver their brand of gospel music not just to the church but to the masses regardless of their walk of life (and) spiritual understanding."

The network this week shared a deleted scene from the "Mary Mary" reality show in which the sisters"share a moment of compassion when having a conversation about their father." The clip, titled "Mary Mary: A Father's Love – Deleted Scene," can be viewed below, or at Wetv.
Mary Mary, reportedly named after the Bible's Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Jesus, has won several awards since their 2000 debut album Thankful, and the group won for Best Group and Best Gospel Artist at the 2013 BET Awards, which aired Sunday night on the BET network.

We send our Condolences!

Kanye West Makes Kris Jenner the Butt of His Jokes
Kanye West mocks Kris Jenner in front of a room full of friends and reporters.

We know that Kanye West and his maybe mother in law Kris Jenner have opposite views on raising children but who knew they were feuding?
A recent W Magazine editorial, writer Christopher Bagley reveals that the rift between Kanye and Kris may have stemmed from the song “Awesome” that he wrote about Kim.
He plays her some of his unfinished songs, including “Awesome,” which is clearly about Kim. When she exclaims, “Great job!” West doesn’t find it as flattering as Jenner evidently intended. He raises his eyebrows. “Great job?” he says and sets off on a comic riff that cracks up everyone in the room. Toasting with his champagne glass, he says, “Great job, Baccarat, for making a glass that can hold liquid!” He looks down at his waist. “Great job, belt loops, for keeping my pants up!” Jenner laughs off the mockery but soon is ready to leave. Hugging West goodbye, she tells him, “I love you. You know where to find us, at the George V. Call us tomorrow, if you want.” It seems apparent to everyone, including Jenner, that West will not call.

Amanda Bynes Says Drake Has Downs Syndrome
Amanda Bynes lashes out at her former crush Drake claiming the rapper looks like a person with Downs Syndrome.
Amanda Bynes’ obsession with Drake seems to have taken a dark turn.
The troubled starlet wrote a series of Tweets Tuesday afternoon and quickly deleted them but RadarOnline.com has screen grabs of their offensive message.
“They airbrushed @drake to make his eyes look like he doesn’t have down syndrome!” Amanda initially wrote and then followed up with another Tweet denying that she likes the rapper.
“@drake looks like sh*t both ways! I don’t like him so stop thinking I do!”
Amanda, 27, shocked the online world when she first wrote about Drake, wanting him to murder her “private part” but since then has waffled on her feelings towards him, going from love to hate in 140 characters.
When she previously called him ugly she promptly apologized for the slam, but so far she hasn’t said she was sorry for this round of ugly Tweets.

Matthew Knowles Files Defamation Suit Against Tabloid
Mathew Knowles has filed a lawsuit against British media outlet The Sun to seek unspecified damages for alleged defamation and breach of contract.
Knowles claims that the British tabloid “knowingly and maliciously misrepresented his relationship with his daughter, Beyoncé, and with his granddaughter Blue Ivy in an article from an interview conducted between Knowles and a reporter.”

In a March 24, 2013 article, The Sun stated following the headline, “Former manager talks about family rift for first time,” and added that “Mathew Knowles has reportedly not yet met Blue Ivy.” The story read further, “Although he insists the decision to go their separate ways was mutual, Mathew, 61, is hurt that Beyonce has cut him out of her life.” Mathew, however, objected the assertions.

“My daughters and my family mean the world to me,” Mathew said. “The barrage of repeated falsehoods spawned by the British Sun’s defamatory article has been exhausting and personally damaging to me. No matter how many papers it sells or web hits it generates, The Sun, like any newspaper, needs to maintain a basic level of journalistic integrity.
The Sun crossed the line when it went after my family. The Sun needs to be held responsible for its lies in a court of law. This happens too often to too many people, and it is simply unfair,” he added.
