Is ‘Idol’s’ Curtis Finch Jr. Too ‘Arrogant’ to Win
*“American Idol” has at least two contestants who can really sang – Candice Glover, who belted a Kim Burrell-style version of John Legend’s “Ordinary People” on Tuesday and St. Louis gospel singer Curtis Finch Jr., whose rendition of R. Kelly’s “I Believe I Can Fly” had all four judges on their feet for the second straight week.

Keith Urban said Finch oozes goodness and light. Nicki Minaj got emotional and said she has a calling on him that’s bigger than “American Idol.” Randy Jackson said the night’s competition started with him, and Mariah Carey may have referenced her tension with Minaj by saying Finch’s positive energy was what she needed in her life at that moment.

But America may see things a bit differently.
In a recap of the show, USA Today’s Brian Curtis wrote Finch “may have the best pure voice in the competition, but he comes off as arrogant and effeminate even while he’s saying, ‘Bless you.’”

  1. Personally I think that his voice is bigger then his personality. Sure he is somewhat effeminite, most little Black boys who grow up singing in church are. That being said this is a singing competition and he is very talented by far and the writer of that negative article is doing nothing more then side tracking viewers from the blessing they witness when Curtis Finch Jr. sings.

  2. If you watched the entire season...he is arrogant...remember group week?...he was very cocky...to his other group members...he even sings very cocky.....i need to sense some humility in him before he gets my vote....the effeminate traits do not bother me at all...most church choir boyz are...nothing wrong with that....they are usually the most anointed....just my humble observation!
